A quick few questions about Alchimia.

Is it normal for people to specify into specific materials that they can change other things into and mold into other shapes?
And while I hate to draw the comparison, can Alchimia magic be better suited for Full Metal Alchemist's more combat centered alchemy or would it be more beakers and test-tubes?
And, is there a limit of sorts as to what can be changed into what? Like, are gold and other precious metals off limits for creation? And could I get potentially more abstract about materials for rearranging?

@Cinderella Man

To answer in order:

Yes, Alchimia users usually specify what kind of materials they can transform, but their range is much bigger than most other mages. E.G. A Metal Alchimia mage can change any kind of metal.

Yes, you can use Alchimia as a method of fighting like in FMA. It would depend a lot of what you can transform, though. What I have thought of while making these is a metal alchimist able to transform metal they carry with them into weapons, or someone with magic related to earth, making structures out of even sand to attack, this last one imitating a more a la Avatar vibe.

Nothing is off limits when changing. If you can create gold, then you can do it without restriction. However, it is not permitted to make gold out of nothing.

Okay, this is more of chemistry and I'm not really that good at chemistry, so bear with me. To rearrenge elements or objects into other things, a mage has to go into molecule territory, separating or adding things to a formula to create new things, or simply add one thing to another and shorten the process of making some other material. As before, it would only be effective with the branch they have chosen. E.G. If you are going for metal, if you have iron and add some coal with your magic, you get steel without having to molt it, etc, etc. and so on.

I hope that answers your question, if not feel free to ask me more.

Hey, @GrafRoy Zeppeli, would I be able to make a half elf? I wanted my character to be an elf, but I wasn't sure if I wanted him to be either a human of an elf, so I thought I'd ask if I can be both ^_^

Sure, I don't see why not.

You won't be as good as an elf in magic but you should still have some of the natural talent of elves. Well, I'll let you figure out the rest of the details by yourself.

I just read the first NPC in the character section. That man dying made me sad, that man not being dead confused the living hell out of me and my overthinking brain. Curse that beautiful opium smuggler. Prick.

Anyways, I'll be writing up my own character in a moment. Just need to gather a few more details...

@GrafRoy Zeppeli Can I have a pet? ex:

Just something that is like a real life pet but it's almost a helper. Carrying small things, talking to you, flying around. A friend.

Sure, I mean, some keep grim reapers with them on the dorms. A cute thing like that is more than all right, so don't worry about it.

@GrafRoy Zeppeli Is a shadow demon a thing... I've heard it somewhere.

[Edit] Actually, it might end up as something more like a loyal servant/ friend... sooo whole new CS for him ^^
Or a familiar...

@sakurasan All right. Just a thing. It wouldn't be as much of a demon as it would be a spirit here.

As said before, demons aren't precisely bad here and what most people coneive as demons in other religions are actually just spirits.

@GrafRoy Zeppeli
You say that Mages must make vows to familiars. A familiar making a vow to the mage is easy enough to understand, but what exactly kind of Vow would a mage make to a familiar? Would they be similar vows? Like a mage saying they'd protect the familiar or something?

A mage saying they'll protect their familiar is quite enough. If they are lovers, then maybe something like they will love the other forwever. Vows that will bound the two together are enough, so anything that comes to your mind is okay.

I've only just realised how long it's gonna take to do this cs...

In other news, I think I've decided that my character will be a half elf whom is the ninth heir to a family of time manipulators, the family of 'Quantus'.

Does a Master have special powers over their familiars?... I mean if a Human/Elf or whatever had made a Dwarf or something their familiar, could they perse Boss them around in away that the Familiar would be somewhat forced to obey?...

Does anyone want to be Shikio's master? =)
