@GrafRoy Zeppeli So, just one question before I start writing my character's backstory... Is it possible for someone to have a familiar before they enter the academy? I was thinking of having a familiar that had formed contracts with the previous generations of my character's family, and thus having said familiar bound to my character already. Would that be possible or is that crossing over into Mary-Sue territory?

@Jay Kalton It is not crossing over to Mary Sue territory, as long as the familiar isn't extremly powerful as in, they can kill just about anyone if they look over at them or things like that.

Well, post it over and I'll see if there is a need to edit anything.

Oooone last question before I head off for the night.

How many types of spirits would a Pythones mage realistically have control over? I would imagine being able to control one or two types consistently would be most realistic.

Or would they be able to control any spirit, no matter the element/type equally effective? Just something I've been thinking about while I've been finishing this up. Probably just me over thinking things again.

Ah, it really is late. I can't even type straight. Bleeeh.

@Rune_Alchemist Ha, it's good to see you working hard but don't overwork yourself.

If you burn out before the start of the RP you are no good for me ¬¬ joking joking

To answer your question, a Pythones mage would be able to control any spirit at any given time effectively AS LONG as it falls under their jurisdiction.

Example. A Pythones: Water Spirit mage is able to use spirits of water scattered about anywhere, independent of whether they have used them before or not.

HOWEVER, if a Pythones mage is possessed by a powerful spirit, they could summon that spirit to fight AND have another kind of Pythones magic in full effect.

If this does not answer your question, just tell me and I'll go even more into detail with it.

Overwork? Me? Pfft, just give me a some caffeine and I'll be good to go for another five hours~
and probably spend the next day sleeping until one in the afternoon, but shh.

So, anyways - A Pythones mage is only able to control one type of spirit, let's say Fire in this case, and would be able to call upon fire spirits in the area wherever they are only.

They however wouldn't be able to say, be able to use wateror other spirits in the area unless they were possessed by a powerful water/other type of spirit?

Might as well go ahead and ask what exactly possession is. Is it sort of like housing a powerful spirit inside of the mage, and being able to use it at will at any time? Would the spirit have any sort of effect on the mage if so? How would someone go about doing that, anyways?

Sorry for asking all these questions. I just like to be prepared if they ever become relevant~

@Rune_Alchemist It really depends a lot on the mage, actually. An unexperienced mage may actually be possessed possessed by the spirit, and they will experience symptoms of either a complete change of personality if their will is not strong enough, and if they fight it back, then they will experience something akin to what we see in exorcist movies or such. Convulsions, puking, etcetera, etcetera, in a fight for dominance against the spirit.

An experienced mage has the spirit either firmly on a leash or has a contract with them that allows the two of them to live in a same body.

Spirits possessing others usually use a lot of stamina and mana to manifest and use so it is often used as a trump card.

I... Was not expecting so many posts upon my arrival. However, now I have a better understanding of some parts of the magic.

One thing though. In Naturalis, what type of time magic are we talking about.? The reversal of time on single objects of areas, or the complete domination of the flow of time, like freezing, reversing and fast forwarding.

@Vocab You'd have to be an incredibly powerful mage (*cough* Eye Of Baphel *cough*) to be able to do something like controlling the whole flow of time, so you'd just be able to control the time of single objects.

If it's still not clear, well, go ahead and post the CS we can discuss things better after I see what you have in mind

@GrafRoy Zeppeli that's more of less what I thought, minus the whole Eye of Baphel. My idea was the ability to alter the time flow of selected areas, so you could make that area age faster, age slower, revert to a previous state or forward to a future state. You'll see it when I write my cs.

@Jay Kalton Vera is accepted. I dunno if you got your idea for magic from Fairy Tail but it is still failr interesting regardless of that.

Go post her in the Character section.

Oh, and I should go ahead and say this. You guys can have as much characters as you want, as long as you can control all of them. I'll add that to the rules.
