Hey @BBeast, semi-joking question. Would ophanim exert noticeable gravity?

between about 1 x 10^23 kg and 3 x 10^23 kg (between 0.02 and 0.05 Earths)

or 70 million Deimos

@Muttonhawk In the simplest possible terms... no. While it's true that the object woth the greater mass has greater gravitational pull, such a pull would be insignificant to Galbar's. Or Logos's. So while yes, it would, it wouldn't be one anyone would notice or see. It might in the dead of space, but with it being that light of a mass, it would probably be more of a slow drift than "kaboom".

Logos is Kaboom. Logos is "Oi, I just jellies yer spine mate" Logos is "Cheers, I just turned all the air into lead."

Let's see...
Radius over 7 meters, so volume of about 1500 cubic meters. That means density of about 7000 kg/m3. This is comparable to that of iron. So no. The ophanim are not especially massive. They have a typical mass for a 7-meter-radius lump of near-solid metal, which is nowhere near big enough to exert noticeable gravity in all but the most contrived circumstances.

Fair enough. I think fathoming ten thousand utes crushed into a seven metre sphere and wondering how heavy it is was beginning to break my brain. I never really learned the gravity maths.

Was it intentional that they're about as dense as iron, @Antarctic Termite? That's actually kinda neat.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Exactly that! I googled the radius of a sphere and the density of iron, then rounded down a thousand tonnes.

It is similar to how I got the mass of an Ur'Telem to be around 10 tonnes. Two meters tall, approximately spherical, and with the density of stone.

P.S. the gravitational pull at the surface of an ophan is about 10-5 m/s2.

@Antarctic Termite

A few pages ago you made mention of a volcano in the Ironhearts. Does that happen to be anywhere near Xerxes?

Not really, but the whole mountain range is a volcanically active region, so there'll be smaller volcanoes within reach.

Should have posted a lot more this week, but there is university life plus Civilization 6 and Stellaris stuff.

Also, my favorite animu is having an event right now which is its only chance of having a S2, now or never. Once that is done I should be back to typical posting rhythm (as a very happy or very sad capybara ;-;)

Edit:
Oh damn.

I'm a happy capybara right now.

Hell, I'm ecstatic right now. It didn't get only a S2, it got a S2 and a prequel.

Having recently slogged through Heaven's Feel against my better standards and judgement, this is fine.

Tell us, suspiciously regarded stranger, what would you like to play as if the GMs are merciful enough to let you in?

Some advice: You may not want to read through the entire IC, but the character tab is incredibly rich with information.
