Disappointment & Tears

Name: Renzo Yokoyama
Appearance: A bit taller than average at 5’11.
Age: 22
Major: Architecture, Co-op Program

Part Time Job: Doesn’t work during the school year.
Money: Keeps around $40 on hand and $30 in bus pass. Nothing outstanding on his credit. His savings total to around $3430.

Residence: Lives at home in Blossom Heights with his mother.

Family: His mother, Ayori (49), still works as a bank teller at Piggleston in Uptown Springdale, while his father, Ryosuke (47), still serves in the Navy as a pilot and is away from home on contract.

Hobbies
It’s not a hobby, but Renzo loves to sleep and won’t turn down the opportunity to nap if presented. When left alone at his placements he would generally be found napping during breaks, and it’s not unusual to see him fast asleep in between classes.

Archery. While Springdale doesn’t sport a dojo that he can practice at, Renzo did pick up the hobby during one of his co-op placements. He recently purchased his own equipment, but is now trying to find some way of practicing. Ideally the police will let him set something up on the mountain, but it’s a work in practice.

Drinking, though it’s more of just a habit he can’t shake now. No it’s not alcoholism, shut up~ As the new “kid” who was only around for a few months, he got taken out for drinks. A lot.

Biking. Oh look, something he didn’t pick up after he started university! It’s beats travel by foot, and he’s got one of those compact fold-up bicycles that he brings with him wherever possible.

Renzo also does love his photos, even if he doesn’t own a professional camera. He just wants to capture memories not every single little detail, and he’s practically attached to his phone anyways.

Aspirations: A steady and comfortable lifestyle. It’d be nice to make have his name attached to a landmark building or the sort, but it’s not a goal he actively chases.

Fears: Deep waters primarily because he’s unable to swim. Also unnerved by complete silence, which actually will keep Renzo awake at night if there’s nothing but the sound of his heartbeat and breathing.

4 Positive Trails and 1 Negative Trait
+ Independent: Renzo doesn’t mind being away from home and friends, and takes care of himself with little trouble. He doesn’t often feel the need to confide in others and problems aren’t bottled up, but actually sorted through and taken care of.
+ Confident: Even in the face of harsh odds or a looming deadline Renzo isn’t one to show weakness. As a firm believer in the phrase, “Fake it till you make it,” a touch of confidence and self-assurance rarely makes a situation worse. Also gives him a damn good poker face.
+ Proactive: Sitting around doing nothing isn’t exactly Renzo’s schtick, and if he thinks there’s something to be done? Well he won’t wait around or ask someone else to do it if he’s capable.
+ Patient: On that note, Renzo is fine with sitting around doing nothing though. If there’s truly nothing that he can do, and his only thing is to sit around then he’ll do just that. Preferably, he would be able to use the time for a nap though.

- Snarky: Hardly the most polite person around, Renzo more often than not remarks and comments when unneeded. It’s not his intention to beat people down for their flaws or mistakes, but he’s hardly above pointing them out.

@Darcs I would really just prefer her to be 22 so everyone's on the same page.

@Zombehs I don't mind him not having a job since I know people are like that (like me lol) but you should still list what his summer job will be because summer is coming up.

Though I have a question about him being proactive and confident and how it sort of conflicts with him having little aspirations/desires. If his father is in the Navy and his mother is still working, wouldn't they be pushing him to be more ambitious or have some expectations to steer him? I was going to bring up the napping (as long as he's not snoozing in the group randomly) but napping doesn't automatically mean a sedentary tendency,

Just some thoughts I have since I wanna be sure we don't have someone who's outright aloof.

I was under the impression that for most characters this was their last semester in school and by the summer they would be searching for full-time jobs in their fields? Even if that isn't the case, with the whole Youkai Watch business, Renzo would probably forgo a summer job in favor of taking requests or just trying to discover more.

As for the little aspirations, Renzo doesn't have any particularly grand dreams. His parents don't really push him because he isn't squandering his potential. There isn't anything wrong with just being an architect.

And yeah, he's not going to be randomly falling asleep out of the blue.

I did want to just make sure, but is the setting Japan, US, or not particularly important?

@Zombehs It's an implied Japan setting but the setting itself isn't really on a particular map or location.

Forging a summer job will be risky since there won't always be monetary rewards for requests and with it being summer there many be even less requests to take since more kids will be able to pick them up since school is out. Just making sure you're aware that not having regular income won't be easy and going out and spending cash on food and supplies is gonna factor in as we progress.

At any rate...I suppose after talking you're free to post in the CS tab though I still need to see if Darcs changed their age and we can get going.

I finally have only 16 more units until I graduate. I'm so freaking stoked. In the fall/winter I'll be doing my last one or two semesters and I'll be free to either go get a job or keep trucking to get a teaching credential or a Masters. Woo!

EDIT - Looks like they did so I'll get the intro up within the next few hours, I have the next few weeks off until my spring semester starts back up so I'll have loads more time to come on here before things pick back up again. I will be away most of tomorrow since I'm heading into the city with my friend for our usual antics around town. I still have an environmental health final to take this or next week, not sure when. I also have to finish my infographic for my asian studies course but my shakespeare film class is all done so that's a relief.

Hopefully we get some posts over the next day or two. I have a final next Tue. I'm working on an extra credit essay today. Tomorrow I'm getting some fillings replaced before my insurance poofs into thin air. I should be pretty available during this week/weekend though since I only have a few things still hanging in the air. Hopefully everyone's week is going well. I found out my bff is moving out of state this summer so I could definitely use a distraction.
