I actually got the same vibe. If an older guy who owns a sweet shop insists on everyone calling him Uncle, he'd probably be lynched or something where I'm from. I can see past that though, and he's probably hella hilarious. Gotta love rawdy jokes. XD

Yeah, I can too, it was just an initial reaction!

Hey sorry mate but it doesnt look like i'm gonna get a post up for Nikita - so, just ignore her presence and say Nick just walked off or something idk

@Everyone

So, after sleeping for the entire freaking day and talking it over with the GM team, I'm going to be dropping this. I've been very stressed lately and am taking a break from RP-ing in order to have some time to myself and focus on school. I'll still be lurking around, I just won't be writing, so I'm always up for some talking and stuff. Hopefully, if this RP is still alive and I've managed to get my life back on a manageable level, I'll be able to rejoin again.

Would like to chime in on the Uncle thing:

I think something like this is more common in other countries, whereas it's seen as something 'Pedo-ish' here. Honestly, most words kids know from a different language usually refer to older strangers as 'Aunts' or 'Uncles'! I forgot specifically which language I'm talking about, though, so forgive me for the lack of evidence.

I do know, however, that as a child I'd always call anyone who knew my mom + was also Filipino 'Aunt/Uncle [Name]' (in our language, of course) as a form of respect, regardless of whether or not my mom knew them well or was friends with them.

It's kinda like a Mr. or Mrs./Ms. for kids, I'm guessing and their actual forms of Mr./Mrs/Ms. is more for formality? But, it also depends on where you're from. I'm just talking from experience from taking French and being Filipino, so I'm not actually sure if it's the case for any other country or language. ;o

Yeah all of my mum's good friends were Auntie for me and I had an Uncle Joe who wasn't related to our family but grew up with my dad. So I can second that one.

I was just totally expecting that sentence to just go like, "... and I had an Uncle Joe who wasn't related to our family but went to all of our reunions, anyway. You know, the usual."

Well I mean... He does do that. He's been to every wedding I've been I swear. These include the weddings that are not apart of our family.

Joe's a strange guy.

That's interesting. No doubt, different cultures have different things. That is just definitely NOT a thing where I'm from.

I'm not offended, not at all, sorry if I sounded like I am. If anything, I'm disappointed that my writing missed the mark and made the character cause the wrong impression, or at least not the impression I wanted it to cause. Personally, I still don't quite see him as creepy but then I'm obviously biased. Though I am interested you find a gossipy flirt creepy, that's just not the word that would occur to me when describing one.

If the uncle thing is that odd to most people, I'll consider changing it, it was only something I thought about in those terms right as I got to the end. In Britain and in France, it's not really that weird.

My two cents here, and this is coming from the assumption that a lot of players here are from the U.S., being called an uncle if you are not blood related is pretty uncommon but not unheard of in my experience.

In Canada it's not too strange if you know the person. But it's also god damn Canada.
