Standing at 5’2” Elaisse is relatively short. She could certainly be described as pretty, if not necessarily beautiful – but she has a year or two to grow into that. She is slender with slight curves. Nothing particularly special there. Her hair is a dark brown and wavy. It falls to midway down her back where she most often lets it sit loose with only a few sections pulled back. Ela has light blue-grey eyes that complement her dark hair well. She will always be found wearing dresses, mostly in elegant designs suited to her rank. However sometimes she will wear something simpler if an activity requires it.

Elaisse is softly spoken, often more in the background than at the forefront of any conversation. She prefers the company of only a few people and struggles with larger groups – which can be difficult considering her status. Though shy Elaisse is quite friendly and finds it quite easy to get along with people. This is maybe partly down to how easy-going and agreeable she is. Even though she can struggle to talk in certain situations Ela always tries to be polite.

When she is in her element Elaisse will open up a bit. Though mature for her age of fifteen she is bright and cheerful when doing the things she enjoys more. When with family or others she knows well she is quite animate, finding it easier to talk. She is quite emotional and struggles to not let her emotions show even when it would be better to hide them.

As a Princess, Ela doesn’t exactly act spoiled – however she is definitely naïve. She knows very little of the life outside her own. What she does know is from the books she loves to bury herself in. While smart she is also quite innocent which means it is quite easy to take advantage of her. However, she is quick to learn. She is also very far from ambitious. If anything Ela is the opposite; she will follow those that she is loyal to without questioning it. She doesn’t have much will of her own out with of a wish to live a peaceful life. Though she is slowly beginning to grow more confident with the thought of voicing her own opinions as opposed to being entirely passive.

| Background |

The daughter of the current King and Queen of Slibah, Elaisse grew up want for nothing. Her life so far has been an easy one. She spent her time devoutly studying to be a Princess, and future wife of some noble. She picked up most things easily enough, not minding needlework or music. Some others she struggled with, such as dancing. Even as a younger child she enjoyed sketching, using a quill and ink to draw some kind of random design – quite often around letters.

Ela didn’t spend much time with those outside of her family or a few noble ladies closer to her age often. Out with of the required social gatherings she tended to keep more to herself. As a result she managed to avoid most kinds of gossip and scandal. She is unlikely to get involved in anything romantic until marriage, which is something that works perfectly fine for her.

Not much has happened in her fifteen years of life, sheltered as she was from the war and other happenings. It is not something she is particularly looking to change anytime soon.

Luca is a friendly soul, one who enjoys time around other people the most. On the outside he is always bright and energetic, quick to talk and make others feel better where he can. Though kind and caring, not a person who would purposefully hurt another, he can often not properly think through what he says and can inadvertently cause offence. Along with that the way he acts can be very in people's face and overwhelming. Though very person orientated Luca tries not to depend on others, more because he wants to keep up the facade that he is always full of energy and not show how he actually feels. Just looking at him you wouldn't have thought that he was affected at all by not normally developing magic, though of course it was something he struggled with growing up - he just did it alone. Luca is also easily distracted and has a habit of never properly thinking things, meaning that he can do something on an impulse and have it blow up on his face. His quick reactions can help him here but it doesn't change the fact that he rarely goes into something with a plan, even when he should. It's not to say he isn't sensible, just likely to do something on a whim. Even with this if he finds something he really likes Luca will get stuck into it.

~ History ~

Luca was a cheerful child, born to two incredibly intelligent parents (even by current time standards) and with one older brother. He got on well with his family and was especially close to his brother, Sebastian. He was always a little bit odd, his high energy meant he struggled to just sit down and pursue the kinds of sciences a child was expected to have an interest in. Instead he would rather be running about, learning how to cartwheel and climbing whatever he could. His parents put up with it - they assumed that he would grow out of it, and all of his teachers thought it was the oddity of a blossoming genius. Between this and his bright personality he had no lack of friends. And he was smart, he just had no urge to act on it.

Slowly everyone his age began developing powers, and it seemed like everyday someone came in with one. Luca's brother had developed his own earlier than most, and Luca had looked forward to being one of the first in his class. But soon he was only one left without them. He was yet to go through the physical changes of puberty, though, so maybe he was just a slow developer? But the power never came. It came as a shock to all; after all who didn't develop powers? His parents tried everything to find out what was wrong as Luca slowly lost what friends he had, ostracized from most of the society. He bore it with a grin, though, only breaking down when spending time with Sebastian - the one person who stuck with him through it. He had no motivation to be academic before his power didn't develop, and even less after. Refusing to go to college caused a massive argument with his parents but he got his way. After all they had essentially given up hope on him and focused all their ambitions on his brother.

Luca got a simple job, baking, and threw himself into it. He found he enjoyed it if he tried at least and tried not to let the stigma get to him. He channelled his energy into a similar sportiness he'd had as a child - after all what did it matter if he did one more thing that wasn't approved of? It wasn't exactly an amazing life, but it couldve been worse.

Description:
Thanh is a short only just turned 10 year old, like her mother, and slightly round due to being spoiled by her uncle’s cooking. She’s a cute young girl who is the only daughter of Linh Phan, born in a drunken fling with a man than Linh could not name and could barely describe if asked to. Her dark and straight hair is almost identical to her mother’s. Though when she was younger it was kept long it has recently been kept in a cut that means it falls just below her shoulders. It is often tied back into two braids, or pigtails, but Lihn – though at least with it shorter it’s less likely to get messy if not tied back. Her skin is a golden colour, the paleness of it compared to Lihn (and even Kei) quite telling of the fact that her father was Caucasian. Her eyes are green, having lightened somewhat in the past few years, which are large and set in her round face.

Thanh is still cheerful like she was at the age of 6, but has grown considerably more confident and adventurous. She is still quiet around people she doesn’t know, and doesn’t have an easy time making friends with other people. However she loves playing outdoors, often tumbling about the garden causing Lihn all sorts of pain when she comes home with dirty clothes. Not to mention the fact that she drags her mother and Kei around on all sorts of walks, or sometimes just disappears without telling her mother at all. Due to her powers, which have developed, Thanh generally gets along better with animals that she does humans. Because of her tendency to just run off Lihn got Thanh a dog two years ago, a German Shepard named Chi. Thanh loves Chi, and spends most of her time with the dog by her side.

Power:
Animal Telepathy & Scrying

Thanh’s ability is cerebral, just like her mother’s and grandfather’s. In the past three years her mother has helped her gain control of it which means that she can block out the thoughts of animals around her and only listen when she wants to. Thanh’s power has also developed as she has begun to use it more. It comes in two parts;

Telepathy – This is Thanh’s ability to speak with animals (though of course they do not get more intelligent when she does) and to also read their thoughts. It is pretty similar to normal telepathy, except it only works on animals and not humans. While Thanh can now choose when to use it (well, similar to Lihn she blocks out the thoughts) she hasn’t developed it much past talking to various animals – especially her dog. But she is only 10, and will develop it more as she ages.

Scrying – A recently discovered part of her power Thanh can essentially perceive through an animals sense, by sort of going into their mind and experience everything as if she were the animal. This means she senses everything the animal can. She can communicate to the animal she is scrying to a certain extent, but at the moment cannot control the animal but is instead just seeing through it’s eyes. Her own body is helpless while she is doing this. Thanh rarely uses this ability, mostly because her mother thinks it could possibly have dangerous side effects.

Personality: Somewhat gruff in the way he talks, Ted is the kind of person that takes a while to get used to. He isn’t quick to trust and be friendly. Most people don’t get along with him at first unless they are the friendlier souls. Years spent travelling in isolation has created something of an unsocial and quiet man. Though more likely to listen to a conversation that participate in it, Ted is not unkind. While he can be difficult to become friends with he is not obtrusive nor does he pick fights. Calm and practical, he is most likely to be a background figure in any kind of group. However, his skills and knowledge of survival may occasionally bring him to the forefront.

Someone who has a difficulty fully relaxing, when Ted is in company of those he trusts he becomes more jovial. He has many tales to tell for his forty-eight years. He will not be the one making jokes but he is quite happy to laugh along with them. And, just like any hobbit, he enjoys the company of a good drink and some pipe-weed.

Appearance: Ted stands at 3’6”, just in the taller ranges of hobbits (though not by much, and hardly above average by any means). His somewhat round face is more angular than most hobbits with gaunt lines from years living in the outdoors and away from the easy going lifestyle of most Hobbits. Of a sturdy built, Ted has well defined muscles and very few of the soft lines you’d expect. He still has something of a stomach (he does enjoy drinking as much as the next Hobbit) but has the body of one with a clearly active lifestyle. His hair is brown and curly, kept relatively short so it can’t get in the way. He has eyes that are a couple of shades darker than his hair, but still a similar dull brown. His skin is soft and tanned brown, somewhat ruddy, and blemished with the kinds of scars you’d expect of someone who now essentially lives in the wilds.

Backstory: Born in Hobbiton as one of the middle children of nine, Ted’s family were farmers first and foremost. Ted grew up learning the trade of his family but always an adventurous sort, running away to explore and play fighting with sticks against any of his siblings who would allow it. He always wanted more to life than just settling down with a family.

When he was a bit older, but not quite the age of majority, Ted left his family and moved to Bree. Here he found someone who trained him in how to use a sword, and improved his own use of a slingshot. He learned how to survive out in the wilds, cover a trail and follow one. After a few years in Bree Ted, now aged thirty four, set out to explore the world.

He travelled from years, exploring the lands now nearly abandoned by elves and their beautiful cities. He visited a few strongholds of the dwarves, but only remained briefly. He then moved on to the lands of the humans; spending his time in Rohan and going as far as Dale and Esgaroth upon the Lake. He met many people in his time, and travelled with a few between cities, but spend much of his time alone in wilderness away from civilisation.

Some years after he had set out, perhaps six or so, Ted found himself in Minas Tirith. It was in a tavern here that he met Roderic Fairbairn, a nephew of the Warden of Westmarch. As the only hobbits in the area the two started talking and a loose friendship former. This developed as they began to travel together, slowly making their way back to the Shire.

Ted returned to the Shire almost ten years after he had set out from Bree. While he had enjoyed his adventures, he decided to settle down just for a short while, and it was at Roderic’s suggestion that he joined the guards of the borders at Westmarch. With his experience it was easy enough for Ted to become and member, soon become a mentor figure for many within the ranks.

Ted has had this job for five years now, and is beginning to get restless from staying in one place for so long.

Reason for investigating the silent colony?: Roderic, the hobbit that Ted travelled with for a few years and arguably his closest friend, recently travelled to Dôr-min-Taur. Since then there is has been no correspondence from him though the two kept in contact normally. Ted wants to know what has happened to him, as does Cassinia Fairbairn; cousin of Roderic and a member of the guards Ted is friendly with.

Other: Weapon wise Ted carries a shortsword of human make, sized so that a hobbit may wield. Along with this he carries his trusty slingshot, which he is adept with, and a small bow (just in case a slingshot doesn’t do the job). He also has a few hunting knives.

Other equipment Ted has is stuff to start fires, trail mix for when travelling, other survival equipment and a pipe for smoking pipe-weed.

Personality:
Cassinia, or Cassi as she prefers to be called, is cheerful and upbeat, one to grin in most situations. Due to being very friendly she finds it easy to get along with most people and can forge friendships in unlikely circumstances. Her general friendliness is coupled with someone who enjoys joking, playing pranks on others and generally having a laugh. Sometimes this can get to an annoying point, though she tends to stop before she goes too far. Though generally friendly Cassi has a terrible temper, and very little control of it – if she gets angry, she’s angry. It really isn’t difficult to cause this as well. Along with this, though she is one of the hobbits who scout the borders she is naïve and yet to truly experience any kind of combat or hurt.

Appearance:
Cassi stands at 3’5”, with the typical stout and short figure of a hobbit. She has a soft, and round, face with freckles splashed across her cheeks. Her skin is fair, with her hands rough from years of using a bow. She has hair of a reddish-gold colour, somewhere in the realm of auburn. This is of a decent length and messy; while she isn't particularly good at keeping it, she doesn't want to cut it shorter like would probably be sensible. Instead it is often kept tied back or braided so it is off her face and doesn't get in the way. Her eyes are a bright, somewhat unusual green in colour. As Cas normally is working or scouting she can often be found wearing practical clothes in shades of green and brown; somewhat longer tunics and trousers, the kinds of clothes more suited to men. However when she is not working she will wear simple dresses in bright shades of green, yellow and blue. Like all hobbits, she does not wear shoes.

Backstory: Cassi is the fourth child (of five), and second daughter, of the current Warden of Westmarch. She is descended from Samwise Gamgee from his daughter Elanor the Fair, and was born in Undertowers (in Westmarch). She had a relatively normal and safe upbringing, but from a young age disliked being confined and had no interest in anything scholarly. She insisted in getting combat training while growing up, and her wish was granted as her father saw no point in confining his spirited daughter. She spent her time training in Undertowers and travelling to the Shire, often visiting the Took and Brandybuck family (along with the extended line of Gamgee / Gardener) – as the three families had kept close contact. The Fairbairn’s were probably around the least, however, due to their location in Westmarch.

As soon as she was old enough Cassi joined those who guarded the borders of Westmarch, and continued to train while choosing to specialising in scouting. She learned the kind of things she couldn't in Undertowers; survival, tracking and navigation to name a few. She soon gained a reputation for having an incredibly accurate shot, talented for her age and station but not quite to the level of an elven archer. While her fighting is adequate, her archery and slingshot skills make her good at her job guarding the borders.

Reason for investigating the silent colony?: Cassinia’s cousin, Roderic Fairbairn (through her father’s younger brother), was recently travelling around Mirkwood and specifically stopping in Dôr-min-Taur. Roderic was around seven years older than Cassi, and she knew him well enough. Along with this one of her closer friends in the scouts, Theobald, was good friends with Roderic and wishes to know what happened to him. So Cassi is setting off to investigate, both for the chance of adventure and to find out what happened to her cousin.

Other: Cassi is the great-great granddaughter of Samwise Gamgee. Her great-grandmother is Elanor the Fair, and her grandfather Elfstan fairbairn. Her father is his first son, and current warden of Westmarch.

Weapon wise Cassi’s main weapon is her bow, of finely crafted Silvan make. Given the name Egros (though Cas just calls it Thorn) it is a prized possession that she was gifted by Roderic after his travels. Her arrows are also finely made. Along with this she has a hobbit made slingshot and a basic sword, and a couple of knives.

Though the daughter of a Warden Cassi is a member of the scouts who patrol the borders. Though her fighting is adequate her skill lies with her ability to use a bow. An incredibly accurate shot, she is talented for her age and station (though nothing near an Elven archer). This is due to the training she asked for, and received, while growing up in the Undertowers – an otherwise safe and boring upbringing. She is also quite good with a slingshot. It is her skill as an archer and scout, along with her status as the daugher of the Warden of Westmarch, which is why she is attending the council meeting as a guard of the emissary.

Personality: As many elves do Lhindél sees himself as somewhat superior to the other free people. However he is not specifically racist, nor does he believe that he is above working with them. He is quite willing to try and judge individuals for who they are rather than for the fact they will live a shorter life than him. Lhindél is intelligent (though not as much as many other elves) and reserved, sometimes seen as quite uptight. He has a strong sense of loyalty and will dedicate himself to whatever work he is doing, or any person he wishes to be loyal to. His young age, for an elf, means that he is viewed as inexperienced by those older than him. While Lhindél has not seen or participated in any great wars he has a great deal of knowledge about these kinds of things and is far from naïve.

Appearance: Lhindél stands at 6'5", his height and slender build showing him to be Elven nobility. The natural litheness of his race is coupled with his fitness, giving him well defined muscles from years of honing his skill as a swordsman. His arms are certainly strong. His dark hair, left long and well kept, is from the Sindarin line of his family. It often will be found with simple braids running through it and is rarely tied out of the way. His skin is fair going on pale, with roughness in areas such as his hands – as you would expect of a warrior. His arms have light scars from training when younger but there is nothing noticeable. He hasn’t fought in any kinds of wars. His eyes are cold and steel grey, as colourless as his other features.

Backstory: Born in Eryn Lasgalen, Lhindél comes from a line of well-known sword wielders who are part of the Elven nobility. He is of part Sindarin descent through his father, whose skills with a blade are near unrivalled, but purely Silvan through his mother. Only aged eleven when the ring was destroyed he has grown up in a mostly peaceful land.

Lhindél’s early life consisted of training in the forest with his father and thirty year older brother, Ruiel. He completely neglected use of a bow to learn the art of sword fighting, resulting him being incredibly light footed and skilled with this. While he easily surpassed his brother, who gave attention to more than just use of the sword, he didn’t reach near the level of his father until he was over a hundred. Even then he still never beaten him.

Aged just over a hundred, and with Ruiel one hundred and thirty, the two decided it was finally time to leave Eryn Lasgalen and travel for a bit. So the two journeyed together; from Minas Tirith all the way to the borders of the Shire. Lhindél enjoyed these years travelling with his brother. After years of travelling the two returned to Mirkwood, returning through the South. The stop they made in Dôr-min-Taur was longer than both anticipated. It was here that Ruiel met and fell for a Silvan lady, and the two brothers parted ways. Lhindél left his brother in Dôr-min-Taur, forging a new life, to travel back to his home in Eryn Lasgalen.

Since travelling the world Lhindél has remained in Eryn Lasgalen, honing his skills further and participating in what he can as a member of nobility. He still keeps in contact with his brother, and visited regularly.

Reason for investigating the silent colony?: Lhindél is investigating as he wishes to know what happened to his brother, along with his brother’s wife and young daughter. He has travelled there before and thinks he is competent enough to deal with whatever may be there.

Other: His name translates to Son of Trewlang, Slender Star, Sword Song (Trewion Lhindél Magoler). This is in the order of father name / chosen name / title.

Lhindél wields a finely made Elven Saber named Hathelas, that has been passed down his family. It was only recently passed to him. Along with this he has the weapon Laegrist, a wood-elven saber that he used until passed along Hathelas. He still carries it as he is adept in wielding twin blades (though normally only uses one). Along with this he has a bow of normal elven make, along with a knife.

Middle Earth: The Fifth Age

Lhindél

Lhindél is an elf of Eryn Lasgalen (once known as Mirkwood), of a noble and well known line of sword wielders – meaning he is among nobility. He is of mixed Silvan and Sindar descent, though more predominantly Silvan due to his mother being pure Silvan elf. At the age of 200 Lhindél is a young elf, often viewed as inexperienced, though old compared to many other races. This (leading to the belief he is more likely to empathise with the shorter lived races), along with his nobility and skills, is why he was chosen to be emissary. Lhindél is light footed and incredibly skilled with a sword, something passed down through his father’s side of the family – and something he has practiced for years, and earning him the third name Magoler (Sword Song). Where his skill with the sword is quite something his ability with the bow, a commonly used weapon by Silvan elves, is well below average.

Description

Ash's outward personality is difficult to pin down, an every changing thing that switches with the face and name that they hold. Currently Ash seems to be more a good person, somewhat innocent and naive and kind nature. They care for mortals, it seems, and wishes to protect them. They act childish but surprisingly diplomatic for the age that they appear to be. They are not looking for confrontation with any of the other children.

Ash's actual personality is an enigma even to themselves. They are incredibly changeable, with a mood that moves between good and bad at any moment. They are, overall, out for themselves. How inclined towards good and evil they are often depends upon the face they are wearing - as a person they are in more of a moral grey area. Ash has no qualms about committing bad deeds however does not go out of their way to do it. They do try to preserve themselves and do try to be diplomatic. However they're ultimate goal is true freedom which they achieve through becoming so many people. They want to experience everything to the fullest, to have every opinion they possibly can. They are willing to change with the times and as a result unlikely to hold onto old tribes or times. This means that they can be fickle, however, and may change their opinion of someone at any given moment.

Ash's appearance does, of course, change. As a shapeshifter they can take whatever form they desire. They do have a natural form, however, one which they have not been in a very long time. This is of an average male mortal. There is nothing spectacular about that form. It is plain, ordinary looking. However Ash prefers to not stay in this form. His hair is dirty blond, curly, his skin fair and his eyes a light blue.

The current form that Ash is most often in is that of a young girl, going by the name Aislin. They are short with slightly olive coloured skin. They're have shortly cut, dark brown hair and eyes that are almost black. The clothing they wear is often colourful and practical. They are almost always smiling, a cheerful and childish smile. However it is obvious they are older than they look.

Powers

Ash's main power is of shapeshifting. They can change their body to any humanoid shape they wish - and are not restricted to a specific gender. This includes mythical humanoid creatures, such as elves. These humanoid shapes could be slightly different from the normal - for example a humanoid with wings, like an angel. They can also take on forms that are not humanoid, such as animals and other mythical creatures. However they can only take on these forms for a restricted period of time - that amount of time changing with how powerful they are. They can change form as much as they want, however - and often will. Changing takes time dependant on how much is being changed.

With shapeshifting comes an uncanny ability to blend in and change. Ash can easily pretend to be others or adopt new personas. With this comes a more magical ability of copying - they can, to a small degree, copy others through watching.

Along with this Ash's changing nature also helps create change in others and that around them. They can, through contact and magically, cause a change in mortals. This is often a small thing - for example they could cause someone to get smarter, learn how to do something or become stronger.

Original Tribe

Ash's original tribe, the Shari, were a small group of people who revered them above all and believed in the every changing nature of the world and people. They were mostly nomadic, moving around with circumstances. If the fields where they lived grew infertile they would up and move. This was similar for any kinds of disasters that occurred. Individuals often broke off and joined other nations - often adopting the culture there though retaining their belief in their god. They also changed as their god did. After Ash was imprisoned they peacefully joined the republic; essentially blending in with the nations that were already part of it.

Faction

Both, but mostly demons. As a shapeshifter Ash used different forms for both sides but in the end stuck with just the demons and got imprisoned as one.

Anecdotes

Ash's role in the war at the Dawn was an interesting one. Their ability to take different forms meant they could participate on both sides. Ash, overall, agreed with the Demons; after all it would cause change and that was the one thing they always wanted. They're main alliance was to Demons and they acted as a infiltrator at points but also on the battlefield.

On the side of the angels, as Alister, Ash was more combat oriented. They didn't make a particularly great contribution though. It was eventually found out exactly who they were and as a result in the end they were imprisoned along with all of the demons.

There are many legends about Ash, however very few are about them as Ash the Changing. Legends on them are difficult to track down as they can be about any of the names and forms he has taken over his time during the dawn. None are particularly outstanding.

Opinions

Eyra the Seer
Ash dislikes Eyra. For them the ability to change and watch change, and to be free to do whatever and be whoever they wished, was crucial. Eyra was the one that locked them away and Ash will see that they pay for it one day.

Kinion the Fool
Ash finds Kinion interesting. Though he acts the fool Ash knows there is more to him than that. He often causes change... And Ash has respect for that.

Wu Dan
Ash fears Wu Dan and the power he holds. He would rather not get on the wrong side of this immortal as he knows it would only end badly for Ash. They try to avoid Wu Dan were possible.
