And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

Just as suddenly as the Orc had actually followed their plan and jumped, they fell due to very unfortunate circumstances. Despite all their rage and shouting, they just couldn't hold against both their own weight settling down and the dragon tugging on the rope to head upwards, it was a miracle that the harpoon withstood said pressure. Well, less of a miracle now since Orchid was not weighing it down any longer.

A guard dove out of the way, not willing to catch the falling man with their head and barely managed to stumble out of the impact zone before the person would crash down if nothing would be done. Catching them by hand would only serve to injure both sides and it didn't seem like the guards had any ideas in the one second Orchid would spend in free fall...

Despite Derrick's best attempts, this lock was not going to budge before his tinkering. The metal effortlessly ground down the piece of wood he was trying to use and continued attempts would be more than likely to simply fill the lock with scrap that would only serve to prevent it from opening later if appropriate tools were found. Despite this was not the approach they were looking for? The smell that emanated from the breaking wood didn't exactly inspire confidence either...

That would be the natural continuation of this, him checking whether he hits the ground (which he will in one turn if he does not hold) or flies off with Lennithon.

So indeed @Lucius Cypher, do your thing!

Landing has no rolls associated. One either takes damage and falls prone, or does not and stays upright. I'll be rolling for the falling damage, but the formula is 1d6 bludgeoning damage for each 10ft fallen which caps at 20d6.

Hello again. I came to the conclusion that leaving a short post is fair, as there is not much to say without moving Derrick around and that would not be something I would like to do. I'm back now though, so we can continue from where we left off.
Having successfully fiddled the lock open, Derrick tried the cell door and found out it was, in fact, opening as expected. This allowed him access to the hallway of the dungeon block. From here... he could not see much further than from his cell. The light at the end of the hallway had not gone anywhere, but the flame in the lantern next to the door was now flickering away. It was as silent as before: Nothing seemed to have particularly noticed the beginning of their daring escape.

Well, Orchid was not exactly in 30 feet range of the dragon, but he would have hit even on a disadvantaged strike so... Yeah. In any case, we are back in business!

Oh, and in case anyone wants to know, if the dragon had recharged it's breath weapon, it would have unleashed it on Parum in full force mocking him. Blue dragons are vain creatures.
Before the dragon got where it desired to move, it received both an arrow from the longbow of one Ashkar Brannor and a harpoon thrown by a raving mad (at least according to most bystanders) Orchid Wildflower, who had spontaneously jumped from the roof to face the dragon. The latter gripped on the rope attached to their harpoon, not for dear life since that was not something that troubled him, but due to the will to kill themselves a Blue Dragon.

One of the dragon's front legs twitched momentarily as Orchid's weight pulled on the harpoon that had already embedded into it's belly. Unfortunately for the berserker, the dragon's wings happened to beat at the very moment the tug happened and his grip was about to give in. His will, resolve and adrenaline strengthened muscles would determine whether he'd continue the fall or keep on hanging. Everyone else was likely hoping for him to fall, not to cause harm for the man but to avoid further harm by the dragon later on. Orchid had his own goal.

The dragon opened it's maw as it continued it's flight toward Parum and for a dreaded second, a few familiar sparks struck between it's teeth. However, they ceased soon and the dragon spoke the following words with a weird mix of hatred and indifference: "Irral wux bevi cuthezth si, Lennithon, ekess vin kiri turalisj lirol vur hak bisekimvi shartleg ekess ritrekilir persvek l'gra? Yor dout goawy, inloil di inik." It then turned towards east, turning it's visage to the skies and beat it's wings faster, gaining height. It then continued "Si tepoha ti halkiv persvek nomeno vargach persvek tikil krel..." and began flying away at a speed the party had not witnessed it use before.

Calculating whether Orchid manages this jump-shoot combo or not is hard work. Nevertheless, I'm all better now and I should get back to being the DM we need, yes?
I'll be posting today or soonish so do you mind telling me what'll happen if Derrick tries to unlock the cell? Just for the sake of expedience, so I don't have to have him do it and then wait for the others to post before I go again.

To be fair, I'm too sick to focus on roleplaying right now. Just some fever and such, but I'd rather avoid writing sub-optimally.
