The purpose of "Add your own" is to prevent that from being an issue. Male and female are easy defaults because under non-genetically mutated situations, there are only two possible chromosome configurations, XX and XY, one thing that cannot change as culture changes. This allows users to add anything they want in the self-defined option or to use the biological defaults, preventing arguments or complaints about a particular group not being represented.

I don't agree with the whole blocking or hiding people option, nor hide all statuses that was mentioned earlier as you are essentially cutting content and censoring yourself from things that shouldn't really matter. I can't agree with this. User customization is incredibly important and people shouldn't be subject to things they don't want to see if there is a way to get rid of it. It's one thing to never make the feature, but actively assuring that it is never created is against the goal of customization and user preference. Some people just don't like statuses, and that's fine.

TL;DR It's fine to not have it but blocking it for the sake of "Get over it" isn't necessary.

I'm getting multiple "A error has occurred, so the webpage was reloaded." Messages, followed by an automatic refresh on the page. Is this something other people are getting?

Just curious if it could be a thing... but could Thread creators have the option (eventually) to delete their own threads? :3

It was discussed and decided against for the same reason GMs cannot delete posts. The power may be easily abused, and moderators are utilized instead to hide threads.

Mahz mentioned previously that he is would not discourage it because nothing would truly stop people from making sock puppets. They're also useful; nobody in my group would be on the Guild if that were a rule.

Moderating can be solved by utilizing IP-scale punishments. And if a system is included to link account, then it will be much easier to moderate, as any penalties can be inflicted on all all accounts. Connecting them can only make moderation easier.


These kinds of reasons are why I don't believe any blanket statement can be made for roleplays. They're stories, and the authors decide how they want their story to be written. If they want a different ghostwriter for every character for no other reason than to add realism that a new person is behind every personality that they want to represent. It's part of what makes the Guild so appealing; it's built for the player, not the reputation of the Guildmaster. ^_^
