Leon Brandeau

It was as Althea eventually mentioned; Leon had thought she meant they weren't to tell anyone else, not that the information would not be shared with those that had fought for it either. Truth be told, he could see how that was naive of him to believe. It was something his elder brother had criticized in him and the others in his family often, and it was the reason many in the Brandeau family gravitated to low ranking positions rather than high command. Still, he had yet to forswear his idealism, and this situation had hardly changed that. What had changed was his opinion of the captain. His only question was whether her response could have been any more patronizing, condescending and down right rude. To ask if there was something wrong with them merely for asking, as if they were idiots, was the height of insulting. On top of that, she chose to give them some speech about how they should "let the adults take care of things", as though she had assumed they had every intention of running out the door and avenging Wagnil this instant. It was an offense to the dedication Leon had shown so far; what on earth could he be counted on, if not following orders? It was as if the captain had no idea who he was.

Silently enduring her nonsense, when she finally finished Leon told her, "Nothing further, Captain." Then he left. He was going to go do laps of the village or practise with his vessel or something. They had a mission to prepare for, and the mission was important, but the captain was not.
Siran Vahramyan Arshakuni

Their journey finally began in earnest. Albus seemed to take to riding the horse quite easily. Maybe he had a gift, or it could just be sheer dumb luck. Siran just hoped he wasn't about to be tossed off in a few seconds. As they left, it seemed someone else decided they wanted to take their turn giving him riding tips. Siran was just fine leaving it to the good sir knight; he probably knew much more about Estalian horses techniques than Siran did. Otherwise, they were to enjoy a brief jaunt through Greymont before they could get out of the city. Siran had been here a few times since arriving in Estala, though not enough to feel as though the city was familiar to her. The Arshakuni tended to keep to the tiny plot of land they had been granted and only the occasional trip was made to cities to sell their meager creations. She was occasionally brought along when she nagged someone long enough to have them relent and take her discreetly. It had to be done discreetly, as her father always disapproved of her doing much more than sitting around the camp and being a pretty princess. Once again, she was reminded that they were going to be far away from the pretensions of chiefs and elders and perhaps even lords and ladies. It was a journey that was to lead them into combat, and they would surely have little time to strut and preen....minus the girl riding side saddle, perhaps.

As the people gathered to wave farewell to the prince, it reminded her of the times from her youth, back before the Arshakuni became a bunch of refugees pretending to still be relevant. Back then, she could have counted on the various families associated with the Arshakuni clan to fuss about her just like this. There wouldn't have been nearly as many of them, but it certainly would have been more than most of the rest of their party could lay claim to. She didn't really care for it anymore, though; it might have been an enamouring idea for a vain little girl, but having grown up here, she knew there was no meaning in hoping for crowds of adoring peasants to gather for her. They would never come, and she didn't terribly want them to come either. She was far more interested in getting a good look at these islands, pirate infested or not. As they finally left the city, it was time for them to pick up the pace and reach the boats. It was quite possible that none were more eager to do so than Siran.

Danh's assault hadn't produced any real results. That was just about what Danh expected; he had never intended for his attacks to land, only to put pressure on him. What came of it all in the end was that Lorken finally attacked him, drawing knives from back and moving in to slash and stab. If this had been a real fight, this might have been where Danh was done for. Danh had trained a lot in preparation for the entrance exam he never got to attend, but goodness only knew fighting a real villain as a fresh student would have probably gotten him killed. He was mostly sure Lorken didn't want him dead at this point, but him getting serious would be the point where Danh would expect to lose.

Only, he did not expect to lose just yet. This scenario had been what he was waiting for. He let the attack come, only stepping back to avoid actually taking the hit, but as his opponent stepped inwards, his free harpoon shot out, seeking to strike Lorken as his momentum carried him forward. But he was not done yet; as Lorken dealt with his initial strike, Danh flicked his whip back around and aimed to land a blow on his leg. It wasn't a plan that was likely to win the day, given he knew Lorken could take a nasty blow without complaining, but he could at least aim to get a hit in. Defeating the teacher was probably not something he should expect, but he at least hoped he could show that he could damn well fight and definitely deserved to keep going.

Although he hadn't received the answer earlier, it turned out that the captain had indeed known all about the princess, the review, and had brought them all up here in the dark to surprise them. She called it a "reward", but Leon didn't exactly feel rewarded. He supposed he should consider it an honour to be chosen for a mission involving the imperial princess, but he wasn't remotely happy to learn that the captain hadn't been upfront about what they were doing. The others might not have cared, but the Brandeaus valued honesty, and even if nobody was hurt by this, he didn't like it. Now he was going to have to second guess whatever the captain told him; if she was going to keep things like this under her hat, who knew what else she would keep from him?

Putting that aside for now, Leon decided to join Althea in her questioning of the captain. He had nothing to speak up about just yet, but Althea's questions were important ones, and he wanted to hear the answers too. He wasn't interested in bathing or horsing around the village, especially not when they supposedly had an important mission on the horizon. Not to mention Wagnil, their good comrade who Leon personally helped to haul across the fields of the north to safety, had almost died for the information related to these questions, so it wouldn't do to neglect to pay attention to it.

So, who's gonna post next? And, I'm curious, who out of you guys are going to make another character? I mean, other than the ones who said they aren't already.

Im considering making a second character myself, but I was wondering; when and how would any new characters be introduced?
Masako Imagawa

Masako stopped her patrol immediately upon feeling that pulse. The sensation that indicated her towards Yamashita. "Did you feel that too, Lutin?"

"Indeed. It seems we finally have a destination." Lutin was almost excited, though more out of a desire to at least make the day productive. Wasting no time, Masako charged ahead on Chantilly in search of the source of the beacon. Upon arriving on the scene, Masako took in the sight of the hordes of Negari pouring into the street, along with the larger Negari forming in the midst of it all. With so many foul creatures abound, one could say it was like the gates of hell had opened.

"How horrib-"

"C'est magnifique!" Masako cut her fairy off mid sentence in her excitement. "I had been hoping to find something to slay today, and my patience has been rewarded with a veritable medley of Negari. This is going to be absolutely glorious!" With that, she spurred Chantilly right into the midst of the Negari. Lutin could only shake her head in disbelief. Every few moments, she was reminded of how vainglorious her partner was. Getting stuck right in, Masako's spear immediately found a resting place in the head of a dinosaur like Negari. It did not rest their for long, as she easily pulled it free as she continued her charge and swung it with wild abandon at the other Negari in her path. Those that did not meet their end on the tip of her spear were either knocked aside by the force of her advance or trampled under Chantilly's hooves. A spidery Negari attempted to assault Chantilly's legs, only to find itself unable to grip on due to her speed and was flung clear. Masako continued to plow through the crowd until she emerged at a seeming break in the Negari numbers. It seemed she had found herself among other Magical Girls fighting the hordes. However, any initial pleasure at being among friendly company evaporated as she spied one of them acting in an almost menacing way to another.

"Excusez-moi, but what on earth is going on?" She asked the muscular girl that gripped the other by collar. She had not been here to see the cause of this display, and in her ignorance, it almost looked as though she was the reason this other girl seemed to be brought to tears. Masako could only hope there was a good explanation for what she was doing.

Siran Vahramyan Arshakuni

His response was just about exactly as she had expected. It was hard for her to imagine nomads that didn't ride their horses, but the world was a big place, and she had left Ibion when she was small, so it was to be expected she would be ignorant of this. Of more concern was the fact that this man was about to try and ride a horse without even a smidgen of prior instruction. These Estalians really should have considered getting a cart to take some of these people in. With little time left before their departure, Siran decided she was going to have to give him a crash course. "Controlling the horse is, on a basic level, as simple as moving the reins where to want them to go." She began. "In practise, you'll probably find it a little harder than that, but we can't help that now. You can use body language to help the horse know where you want to go; look in the direction you want to turn if you need to do so, and let your hips move with your gaze. You can also use your legs to indicate direction, but since I don't know how these Estalians train their horses, I wouldn't recommend it, as the wrong signals will just confuse the horse. Keep your back straight and keep your shoulders positioned directly over your hips. Don't slouch or lean forward. Whatever happens, try to remain calm, as the horse can sense your anxiety." Those were about all the tips she planned to tell for now. There was more she could say, but they didn't have all the time in the world, and overloading him with information would probably be counterproductive. She would just have to hope he could get into it easily, and really hope the horse wasn't of an ill temperament.

"I'm Siran, by the way. You?" Given he clearly wasn't of any high birth, she felt confident that he didn't need or want to hear her whole formal name.

Siran Vahramyan Arshakuni

"Kept you waiting, huh?" Siran spoke softly to Karabakh as she approached her horse. "Well, we're finally going to do something more than practise. Time to do what you were bred for." As she saddled up, she felt someone else's eyes on her. It was the bard, and it seemed as though he wanted to say something. However, instead of saying his piece, he just smiled and winked at her and awkwardly left. It was somewhat strange to behold. Was he painfully shy, or was it some bizarre attempt at flirting? Either way, Siran was just going to write that encounter off as a brief oddity. Hopefully the bard wouldn't be like that the entire journey.

Moving to join the others, as she heard they would be leaving soon, Siran briefly noted that the girl that seemed to stick to the prince like glue was riding side saddle. Siran had to stifle a giggle; the customs of the nobility were truly absurd. She really hoped the girl wasn't planning to ride into battle like that. Her attention was then caught by the man whom she had pegged as being another nomad earlier; he did not seem all that natural around horses, however. "Did they not use horses in your clan?" She spoke to him, shuffling her horse closer. She could tell he had Ibionese features, and she could guess he belonged to one of the other nomad tribes, but she couldn't say which. Perhaps there were some that didn't rely on horses like the Arshakuni or others like them.

@Lord Orgasmo
So I'm wondering; are we going to be taking our time and interacting, or will we be moving on to the port/boat/what have you soon? Just wondering if I should settle Siran into some conversation or hold out for a time skip.
Masako Imagawa

Masako had hoped that after wrangling out their latest detail that the little girl and her fairy would be willing to give this half-baked interrogation a rest, but they still seemed intent on poking at every detail. "Alright, that's it." Masako spoke up, interrupting the conversation. "I'll have no part of this any longer. Get off my horse." She nudged the little girl off of Chantilly's mane with the blunt end of her spear. At any other time, she probably would not have been so forceful, but she had lost her patience with this situation and wanted to exit quickly.

"Madame Shadowrender, I apologise for this shameful display. I shall leave you to your business. Au revoir." With her final words of farewell, she spurred Chantilly onwards and galloped off and out of the alley. Whatever Shadowrender chose to do now was her business. Once Masako was safely out of earshot, she decided to follow up on things with Lutin.

"Did you have to be so brusque with her just now?" She asked, referring to the moment she had chosen to accuse Mitsuko of hiding something.

"If she had been keeping mention of a powerful Negari under wraps simply because she didn't want her defeat to be known, then yes, it was necessary to try and elicit the truth by any means. I'm still doubtful as to whether she told us the truth." Lutin's lack of care for the girl's feelings was painfully evident. "Of course, I'll admit there was little point in questioning her further, given her stubbornness. We'll just have to hope no dire threats emerge that we could have dealt with sooner if we'd heard about them from a certain someone."

Shaking her head, Masako resolved to simply get on with her patrolling. There had to be something to encounter in this city that would lead to more than an interrogation.
