Rubick struggled against Honeybottoms' gravity magic, wanting a piece of it for himself. Unfortunately, he could not move a finger due to the effects of said magic crushing him onto Sectonia's crystal. It was just too powerful. Fortunately, Barnabas came in for the rescue, expending his life to save everyone else's. Rubick was entranced by the display of power; it went beyond any form of magic he knew, in his own world or any others had dabbled in. The way Barnabas shined, the way he completely overwhelmed Honeybottoms with his swarm of bees and his blinding speed... it was magnificent.

Sadly, it did not last. After Honeybottoms was defeated, Sir Barnabas too dissolved into nothing, not even leaving a Spirit behind. It seemed such power had a price to pay. Overwhelming power often did. Still, Rubick was glad. Not just because he survived his latest battle, but that he also discovered a new form of power. One that he hoped to replicate without needing to pay his own life for. If he could do that, perhaps he could truly reach the peak of magical ability.

It would have to be a thought for another time, though. Right now, there were spoils of war to collect. Littered everywhere were the Spirits of the insects everyone had slain. Rubick took the time to collect them up; money was money, after all, and every little bit helped. There were also Spirits of particular note, such as the earth and air mage wasps, which Rubick happily collected. Once he had collected all the Spirits he could find, he was about to begin crushing the Spirits when he heard Sectonia speak about her magical smelter. Raising an eyebrow, Rubick came to inquire, "What's this about your smelter?" Rubick asked.

After a brief conversation, Rubick found no use for it, but he did borrow Sectonia's Symbol of Avarice to increase his chance for better loot. It stung, but his Tranquil Boots offset the damage. Now for his spoils of war...

Rubick also eyed the pair of rings that the Koopa Troop managed to create from their spoils, and they were kind enough to relinquish them to Rubick. "Ohhh... marvelous..." Rubick mused to himself, turning his hand around as he examined the newly-equipped rings, his mind racinig with the possibilities of their potential. Thrusting his hand forward, Rubick conjured up a coffin on the ground. Opening it up, hecould see that it was indeed empty. It really did have a plethora of uses.

"Yes, what is our next destination?" Rubick asked. "I hope to learn just as much on our next adventure as I did here."

Rubick casted his spells everywhere, more so than he had ever done in the past. A Fade Bolt weakened a swarm of the wasps attacking the others, and some copied Fira spells from Kamek wiped out a few others. Eventually, though, the giant mecha wasp was taken out, and out emerged a... bee? The sight of it perplexed Rubick; weren't the wasps supposed to be bullying the bees? Why was there a bee inside a wasp mech? In his confusion, he stopped casting spells for a moment, which was enough of an opening for him to be directly struck by incoming fire. In response, Rubick held up his Loch Shield in one hand and used Sectonia's Chaos Heart defense ability, warding off the majority of attacks.

Meanwhile, the bee had transformed into a plane and rained down bombs onto everyone. This was becoming a little too hectic of a area for him, and Rubick knew he needed to relocate. Using his Weaver's Warp, he teleported into the air, then used his Telekinesis ability to launch himself further upward. Finally, Rubick summoned a mount using Ganondorf's Phantom Steed ability to provide him a lift. He neared the aerial battle between the two bees, Sectonia and Honeybottoms, and decided to intrude. Launching himself with Telekinesis once more, Rubick laughed in delight as he Weaver's Warped onto Honeybottoms. "Greetings, friends!" Rubick greeted them. "Have a gift from a Grand Magus such as myself!" He then used his Wep Wrap ability on Honeybottoms, hoping the 20% accuracy wouldn't let him down. He knew he only had one shot, so the moment he fired it, he immediately jumped off in an attempt to avoid retaliation. He hoped someone would catch him, but if not, he always had his own abilities.

Rubick never thought he'd see a day where he'd be fighting magic wasps, yet here he was, sowing chaos among them. Pointed bolts of energy and sticky blobs of honey and silk flew through the air, among other projectiles and waves of status effects, but Rubick continued to fling their own spells back at them and subtly convince the wasps to attack each other. At one point, he even glued two wasps together and rode on their bodies through the air as they struggled, then leaped off to zap a few other nearby wasps before Weaver's Warping back to solid ground. He was enjoying the wasp-themed magicks, but it wasn't too long before the wasps were defeated. Rubick only regretted that the fun ended so soon. He still had some ideas he wanted to try on them.

Look around at the others, he could see that Sectonia and the Koopa Troops finished dealing with their own enemies. "Nothing like a bit of carnage to test one's mettle!" Rubick exclaimed in glee. Following the rest of the Seekers further in, they soon came face-to-face to a giant mecha wasp, which was presumably the queen. Rubick relegated himself to helping deal with the swarms of wasps, letting the heavy hitters of the Seekers deal with the mecha queen. He even crushed the rock he had in his inventory, granting him an additional 25% mana regen rate. He would go all out now, stealing spells from every source he could and slinging them. Sectonia had a plethora to take from, but Kamek and Ganondorf had their own spells worth stealing as well. Summoned minions littered the area, fiery and dark projectiles filled the air, but Rubick just continued firing. He even fired some at the mecha queen when an attack was about to strike one of the Seekers, deflecting the blow and sending it flying elsewhere.

It seemed everyone was in agreement about the stealth tactic, and decided to go with creating a bit of chaos instead. Rubick chuckled in delight; that was his specialty. Rubick twirled his staff before pointing it at one of the wasps, firing a green bolt of energy. Soon the battle commenced, and Rubick began to aid Sectonia with the Bee Drone. He fired off a quick blast of his Fade Bolt, which also bounced off nearby wasp enemies and temporarily weakened their attacks. Rubick then moved on to other nearby drones, Power Stealing various abilities to take down the nearby mobs. A fireball here, a few summoned minions there. With a bit of teleportation and stolen wasp ability shenanigans, he even got some of the wasps to start fighting each other. Rubick just laughed as he continued his assault. There really was nothing like a chaotic battle to entertain him.

After hunting down the last of the Poes, Rubick and Sectonia received their rewards. Rubick laid claim to the sticker, noticing its interesting abilities, and allowed Sectonia to claim the others. Immediately placing the sticker onto the inside of his robe, he then examined the new ability granted to him. Web Wrap... The "Tape Jam" status effect... Rubick found it to be somewhat of a situational ability, and the accuracy rate was abysmal, but any additional tool on his proverbial belt wouldn't hurt. After all, it would be pathetic for him to be called the Grand Magus if he couldn't find a use for any ability he could find.

Making his way back to the Seekers, Rubick cheerfully entered the Hive, already used to the experience of entering dangerous area after dangerous area. Walking into what looked to be a giant beehive wasn't anything special at this point. If anything, it gave him an idea of what to expect. He could even see some of the creatures now. It looked like some of the larger bugs had superiority over the smaller ones, and even used some robotic bugs to enforce their rule. Apparently the way things were done never changed across societies.

At the mention of the word "stealth", Rubick couldn't help but let out a hearty chuckle. "Stealth? Since when did a group like ours ever employ such a tactic? Lady Sectonia is right, our current roster isn't fit for that," Rubick agreed. Twirling his staff, Rubick added, "Just say the word, and we can start the diversion."

I don't watch Critical Role or anything, but I'm fairly experienced in the ways of DnD. I'd love to see what this is all about.

Rubick followed Sectonia down into the ruins, curious to explore this new location they found themselves in. "Hmm... it is quite curious," Rubick responded to Sectonia's musings. "Still, if they're anything like the beasts I fought before, they are most likely only decorative." He would've liked to take one of their Spirits, but considering the sheer number of these creatures before them, Rubick decided not to antagonize them. Fortunately, the Ferriclaws and Auriclaws seemed to be intimidated by Sectonia, which allowed her and Rubick to pass with ease. As he entered the webbed area, he felt strangely at ease, as if he were at home. Perhaps it was Silitha inside him making him feel that way. Sectonia also took care of any mobs that dared to attack, and Rubick happily Power Stole a copy of the Rings of Light for his own use. Together with Sectonia, they eliminated the Poes as they tried to approach.

They eventually came across a certain character and Rubick was about to blast away, but he noticed Sectonia's hesitation to do so. Curious, he held back just this once, and Sectonia revealed that she in fact knew this "Taranza," though it seemed he did not know her. "Curious..." Rubick said out loud, looking back and forth between them. The scraping of a spear on the ground brought his attention back to his surroundings, and he turned to see more Poe approaching. "Well, whatever you do, let us proceed so we no longer have to deal with these numerous fellows," Rubick said to Sectonia.

After ending his fight with the Eyebrute, Rubick looked around to see if anyone needed help. However, he realized that everyone else had already finished their fights or was on the verge of doing so. Even Pizza Head had been bombarded with enough attacks to go down. "What is this!?" Rubick cried out indignantly. "How are they all defeated already? I came here to be tested!" He harrumphed, frustrated to be done so quickly, but there was nothing to do now. He eventually sighed and turned to look at his spoils of war: the Spirit of the Eyebrute. He gingerly lifted it up with his palm, wondering what he should do with it. Fusion was out of the question; he had no desire to launch his own eyeballs as projectiles, after all. A Striker might be interesting, but it'd be little more than a meatshield, and while it would be nice, he wanted more out of a Striker than that. That left only one option. Rubick squeezed his hand into a fist, compressing the Eyebrute's Spirit into an item.

He turned the item around in his hand, curious about the item. It was a shame it was a consumable item, as he would've preferred something more permanent. Still, it had a decent effect, so he would save it for an emergency. Storing it away in his robes, he would move on to rejoin the Seekers, next to Jesse. Everyone was currently busy looking for a way down into the mist-filled ruins. "I wonder what secrets they hold..." Rubick wondered out loud to the Seekers nearby. He hoped it would be something magical in nature. Meanwhile, the Koopa Troops were having fun trying out various gadgets. Rubick watched them for a time, also wondering alongside Jesse if any of them work. "Hmm, it seems some of them may have potential- oh. Except for that one."

The fighting eventually died down as everyone brought down enemy after enemy. Even Pizza Face was taken down thanks to everyone's efforts. However, it seemed that it was merely Phase 1 of the battle, as Pizza Face's... face opened up to reveal a pizza man inside. Rubick barely had time to be surprised before everything around them changed, and Pizza Head pulled out new enemies from the ground. Everyone took up battle positions once again, with Rubick taking on the Eyebrute.

It wasn't Rubick's first time taking on a monstrosity of a creature, but he could never get over his repulsion for them. Still, at least it made the feeling of blasting away at them with his spells all the better. Speaking of which, Rubick began by blasting the Eyebrute with his Fade Bolt, causing the creature to stare at him with a malicious glare. It then launched its eyes at Rubick, one after the other. Rubick merely dodged one of its eyes and caught the other with his Telekinesis, then launched it back at the Eyebrute, knocking it back. It then got enraged and charged at Rubick on all fours. Rubick used his Blink Dagger to teleport behind the Eyebrute, who proceeded to continue charging for a few more seconds before stopping as if it were confused it had not crashed into Rubick yet. It then retched up a new pair of eyes and turned around to spot Rubick once again, and it fired its second pair of eyes at Rubick. Rubick performed the same motions as last time, launching an eye back at Eyebrute, and dodging out of the way of the Eyebrute's charge with his Weaver's Warp.

At first, Rubick found it mildly entertaining, pretending like he was matadoring a bull. By the fourth repetition, however, he found it to be tedious. The Eyebrute wasn't much more than a mindless brute with a very simple attack pattern. He fired off a few other spells and abilities, but if the Eyebrute felt any of them, it didn't show any reactions Rubick could discern. Eventually, Rubick decided he had enough. When the Eyebrute ceased its charge, Rubick Blinked on top of the Eyebrute and proceeded to swing his staff into its lower jaw, unleashing Ganondorf's Dark Explosion and sending the monster toppling to the ground. Rubick sighed, feeling remarkably unsatisfied. Even the two brothers back at the arena were more challenging than this.

Rubick listened to everyone's stories about how they came to be in this world, and their time spent within it. Rubick could not help but marvel at how Galeem had taken over so many different worlds and merged them into this amalgamation. While this was happening, Rubick took the time to enjoy a slice of pizza; he had never had any before. It was delightfully cheesy, with a hint of spice and the tangy taste of the tomato sauce. In short, it was delicious. After finishing the piece in his hand, Rubick helped himself to a second slice. He just couldn't resist, it was just that good. Perhaps this Pizza Tower wasn't so bad if it meant he could enjoy such a wonderful meal.

Sectonia's antillions came over to Rubick in their attempts to make him "beautiful", but Rubick only allowed them to clean off his robes. Other than the dirt they had accumulated, Rubick was already satisfied with his appearance. The antillions did their job, then scurried off.

After they entered the door marked "Staff only", they came face-to-face... with Pizza Face. It also summoned a whole bunch of goons, forcing everyone to combat them and Pizza Face at the same time. He got to work doing what he did best; creating chaos. He jumped from place to place using his Blink Dagger and his Weaver's Warp, helping out where he could. Rubick used Telekinesis to stun groups of random mobs and Fade Bolting others. He also made use of his teammates' abilities, like summoning his own versions of minions using Kamek's spells, using Bowser's Fireball Master to blast some denser groups of enemies, and taking Ganondorf's Swords of Darkness to power up his own basic attacks. He then took Primrose's ability for Dark Magic to continue the assault, blasting Pizza Face with his own version of her Moonlight Waltz.

This was Rubick's element; being in a chaotic battlefield and slinging spells. And he was loving it.
