They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

Dear gods. I think I'm glad that motivation prevented me joining this round because two sentences in I was miserable. I could read it. I could understand it. But it wasn't any fun, and I rp expressly for fun. Replication of errors is one thing, putting them in at every possible opportunity another. So @Terminal, I'm out. I will be ceding my life/lives (depending on how the ownership of the one given me by Aria works) to others, but I'm going to wait to do that for the moment. I'm trying to decide if I should give them to those with only a few, or wait to see who survives the first few rounds.

I'm open to being persuaded. And I would appreciate being pinged when each adventure comes to a close, just so I can check in if I forgot to. I'll be cheering you all on, guys! SMUSH THE TERMITE (not really but hey, it fits).
@Ozerath

most everyone has been on the discord, with the exception of you and @Stern Algorithm. If you need a link, let me know. And I'm making a note that anything announced here should be pinged to those not on the server, as well.
@Mogtaki mhm, she'd ask. ^.^ I just don't think she's seen a winged dimuran up close before, so she's curious.
*throws steel beams at your head*
Is 3am now. I am off to bed, but I'll probably check in again in a few hours or around noon. I'm very glad we've started! G'night~
Whatever weather Cecilly was expecting, none of it involved large objects falling from the sky. And that shout -- that was a person, a young man by the tone. Whatever it was had moved far too swiftly for her to make out any details, but the thud that followed, and the soft groan, that was enough. Had someone fallen off the roof? Jumped, perhaps? She wasn't sure how they'd have gotten up there, with the door being locked for the evening, but perhaps the custodian had forgotten. It had happened before, though not often. It was a concern for later. Though she reached with her senses as far as she could, the ground was only a blurry smudge in her mind, not enough to make out fine details properly. She could tell it was there, and that was it. Anyone lying on it was not where she could discern them easily or well. "Stay put!" she called down over the railing of her balcony, leaning over so her head would be visible to whoever was below for a moment. She was already checking her pocket for her keys and phone. "I'll be right down, but if you're hurt you need to stay still." With that she vanished back into her apartment.

She took the stairs two at a time, cursing at the time it took her phone to turn on. She'd turned it off for the evening when she got home, leaving it in her pocket only because she'd made the habit of keeping it with her keys at all times. She dashed through the back door, slowing just long enough to adjust to the sudden change in environment, then hurrying toward the part of the lot her balcony looked down on. There! The lump on the pavement resolved into a person, a young man as she'd thought. He was lying on his back, but Cecilly could feel breathing as she came closer. She knelt by him, sighing in relief as her phone /finally/ gave the cheerful tune that meant she could actually use it. It was a flip phone, or she wouldn't be able to use it very well, but she paid for the convenience. She'd resisted upgrading to a smartphone for years, and hadn't ever regretted it until that night. Her fingers brushed over the raised keys as she picked out the numbers for 9-1-1. "Hey. Hey, I'm going to get you help, alright? Can you tell me who you are?" Her hazel eyes wandered aimlessly, but she seemed to know where he was, and if perhaps she was a degree or two off in the direction of her face, well, it was forgivable.
@SinfulSkills quick question. Does he have any broken bones?
Actually, I had been trying to get a position with the company -- and I use "company" loosely here, as it's actually a local nonprofit that works with people with disabilities -- for some time, and then it finally panned out. I help out a little with a few of the other things going on, but primarily I handle dj work and facilitation for the clients with shows. I know several people that are clients there, and a good friend of mine is friends with the guy that owns it, and I sorta know him too, though I don't think I can call him a friend yet. So basically things finally fell into place, I guess. ^.^

WHEE POST!
Amuné was weeping silently, tears she wasn't able to keep back. She hurt for Ethan's loss, and she hurt because her Daddy had been hurt, and she hurt because she didn't know where her parents were, or if they were okay, or even if she would see them again. Wyth was a warm pressure at her back. At least she had him, and Ethan. She hugged the Muran tighter, another shudder running through her. This was wrong, wrong!

The sudden slam made her jump, and she whirled around, leaning back against Ethan as she tried to figure out what was going on. Wyth wasn't pleased by the noise either, his ears turning back and his hackles rising. It was the sort of thing that preceded danger to his girl. When none came, however, he relaxed again.

Amuné was too little to fight, and she knew it. She wasn't even old enough to be useful -- she only knew a little about healing, not enough to be truly helpful, and she didn't have the Saints' blessing for it like her mother. That was how it felt, just then. She wasn't able to do anything. She lowered her head. Being scared wasn't wrong, the loud lady had it all wrong. Not everyone was a hero. Even people who wanted to make a difference, they weren't all heroes either. And how did hiding out in a city with other Magi help anyone? Sure, she and the winged Dimuran had come to their rescue, but she'd not seen anything else that said they were doing anything. And the woman's last comment...she wanted more than anything to go back home, to find her mommy and daddy and forget any of the bad things had ever happened. "I can't go back...even when I find them, we can't go back," she said softly as she turned to leave, still looking at her shoes. She'd figured that out, even though she still wanted to. Amuné took Ethan's hand as they stepped into the hall.

Food was far more welcome than she'd thought it would be, and smelling it made her realize that she was indeed hungry, even with how upset and worried she was. She didn't respond to the winged man's comment about the mean lady and the Church. When he made to split away, the girl quickly stepped after him, reaching to pluck at the fabric of his glove, since he didn't really have a sleeve or a shirt hem to tug. "Hey...I don't think I said thank you for rescuing us...so thank you." Now that she had a mostly-calm moment to look at him properly, she had at least a dozen questions for him about his wings, and the blade on his tail -- was that something he'd been born with? But she didn't ask any of them for the moment. Maybe some other time. She wasn't really wanting to have a long discussion. "And thanks for this--" she waved a hand to indicate the building. "Letting us stay here, I mean, and dinner, and...." She ducked her head for a moment, feeling awkward and shy. "Just...thank you." She looked up at him from behind the hair that had fallen in her face, and took a deep breath. She'd been taught manners, hadn't she? "I'm Amuné," she said, brushing the stray locks out of the way again. "I-it's nice to meet you."
I'm a dj for an internet radio station. It's wonderful -- and such an improvement over working fast food, which was my last job. ^.^;;
