How do we control the bandwagon population?

It is fun when there are just a few, but not when they take the entire page. Help me clear this stupidity to help make room for other stupidity and maybe conversation!

There have been times when bandwagon threads eclipsed the entire front page of Spam, 30+ threads burying everything else through sheer weight of numbers. This current bandwagon isn't all that impressive.

Wasn't there a band wagon at some point that flooded around 3 pages? Or am I thinking about that Spam royal popularity contest thing? I forget which it was but it was huge.

not only that, but they did it during a period that was much more active than spam is now.
