Warhammer 30k: An NRP based on the Horus Heresy

Here's an idea I've been toying with: We'd play during the days of the Great Crusade, with each player playing as a space marine legion of their choice (The pre-existing ones won't exist in this RP), and play out our version of the Heresy. If we get enough people to fill up the legion slots, we can even have players as chaos gods or the Emperor.

Thoughts?

I don't like the idea of mucking with the 40k canon. That way leads to heresy. Heresy leads to the Inquisition.

Sure, you've got my interest.
Got a few questions:
Will we also have primarchs for our legions?
Can we play as a race other than a Space Marine Legion and/or Chaos Legion?
Will we be following the plot of the Great Crusade or another?

Yeah, you would make your own primarch for your legion.
Only if there's enough people playing as legions for it to be balanced.
We'll be at the end of the Great Crusade, mostly fixating on the heresy phase. Civil war and all that.
