I would like to do a roleplay inspired by two very different but very good Bloc Party songs: "Signs" & "Hunting for Witches." I am seeking someone who can listen to the songs and look up the lyrics (on their own) and get inspiration from them. One song is a lot more mellow and bittersweet while the other is a bit gritty and brings images of gears and a fast paced life. Whoever agrees to do this with me must be capable of posting at least four paragraphs. I'm generally going to post more than four but that's a minimum post I'd be good with getting for a response. Below are some ideas as to how to tie the songs together:
I'm proposing this take place in London/somewhere in England, which I've become fascinated by. I'm not from there though. Any knowledge is due to the net and various shows I've seen. Lastly, I require you be able to bring ideas to the table. Being able to talk about things and ideas is very important. We need to be happy and having fun of course. These ideas are by no means set in stone and I encourage other ideas or tweaks. I can play male or female, I would prefer female and to keep this a MxF relationship but if you have an idea for something else, it doesn't hurt to try running it past me and see if I like it.
Idea 1 - Generally this will involve light politics, light fantasy and light romance.
They were best friends for so long until she got sick and couldn't hold on any longer. Years have passed and he's moved on. As the future becomes more bleak with the economy taking a dive and the people becoming restless, the man leaves his job in the stiff world of politics to do something he's always been passionate about. One night a strange light is seen over London and soon reports are heard. Some people are saying aliens while others believe it's a prank of some sort. For the next year, reports come in about beings other powers, powers that fictional witches could possess. As the public becomes even further divided over what to do, the man decides to see a witch for himself. When he first comes into contact with one, he can't help but freeze. Those eyes were the eyes on the one he lost. As two friends are reunited, he begins to believe that all the attacks are misguided as his lost love explains that she is a witch now and is trying to help humanity.
Idea 2 - Slight twist on time travel and could be somewhat geared for slice of life.
They grew up in a town by the sea, in Eastbourne, just south of London. They played in the sea and explored the caves under the cliffs. They dreamed of what the future would hold for them and it wasn't long before they dreamed of a sleek future with flying cars and everything fantastic, at their fingertips. The girl, after finishing high school moves to another city and they struggle to keep in contact. After university, one of them cracks the code, they've invented time travel. The thing is, it needs to be tested before they can make a spectacle of it. So the two friends reunite thanks to the promise from their childhood and rather than go into the past, they go into the future and find it's a lot more dirty and dangerous than they thought. There is corruption and terrorism everywhere and before they can go back, they are hunted down by their future selves. Can they go back to the past or are they needed in the future? What's attacking people in the future can't go to the past, that's a given though.
Idea 3 - Fantasy sort of Supernatural and romance.
They were people with wonderful gifts. They weren't special though, everyone in London was used to the mingling of magic and non-magic users for decades. She had the gift of telepathy, metamorphosis and telekinesis. He had the gift of (two things+metamorphosis). They would turn into ravens or fish or whatever and enjoy time to themselves. They were going to university and mucking about as young adults their ages usually did. She could enter his dreams at night if they ever felt lonely. As their school came to an end, there were more revolts and riots. It seemed the peace between magic and non-magic users was collapsing. There were people misusing their skills and it was starting to take a toll on those who felt like they deserved powers but didn't have any. This began to chip away at the two who both had different visions of the future. One wanted to rely on their skills to solve problems while the other thoughts they didn't need powers. With an uprising on the horizon, it's uncertain what kind of war will break out and who will come out of it in tact.
