Nation CS

Formal Name: The Kingdom of Weldenvarden

Casual Name: Weldenvarden

Government: Monarchy. Unlike current monarchies Weldenvarden's Monarch has actual power. This is due to the fact that the kings and queens of Weldenvarden believe that they serve their people. This gives the people of Weldenvarden unwavering loyalty to their Kings and Queens.

Constitution: no

Population: 23,877 (roughly)

Currency: Bartemaus (barts), small gold coins the size of quarters.

Geographic Location: A large island of massive trees about 2 miles from the coast of [name]. From the view of an airship it could be said to look like a jagged moon with a small bite out of it. The "bite" is the Gulf of Tartarus, named so by the sizable city on its inner coast. There is a rise to the land, making the center of the island the highest point, and the location of Du Grata.

Capitol: Du Grata, located at the center of the island.

Language: English, as they are descended from an English colony centuries ago.

Major Religion: There is no one religion that can claim dominance in Welduvarden. Churches and shrines to a variety of God's and goddesses dot the varies cities. This can sometimes cause minor fights and arguments between towns and cities and people, but never enough to cause a fight to break out. It is the Monarchs wishes that all religions be practiced freely.

Culture: although English in decent, they contain almost no cultural ideals from them beside the monarchy. Everyone has a certain job similar to a caste system, but they are not bound to their job. If they wish to try a new profession it is actually encouraged, but they will always be able to get a job that matches what is thought best for them by their Monarch. The people of Weldenvarden are very hard working, determined, and stubborn. Its said you'd have an easier time moving a mountain then haggle with a Weldenvarden merchant. They are full of music and celebrations. There is practically a different festival in a different city very month. Their cooking takes on an interesting mix of German and tai influences, and is considered by some to be some of the best cuisine you can find. There is a militia in each town that meets annually at Tartarus for mixed training for a month. Its part of the festival of towns, where each city gets together and shares its newest ideas, finds, arts, inventions, anything that hasn't already been shared. It lasts a month and is the site of some of the most amazing things you can find.

History: Weldenvarden was founded by a group of colonists fleeing from a nation similar to England to escape a tyrant known as Belial the Feared. He was a man who had taken a diplomatic society and taken over with a dictatorship, killing those who opposed him. When the group landed upon the island of massive trees they named it Weldenvarden, as an elderly man had said it was an old word for great forest. As people took off to different parts of the island to settle, more immigrants fleeing from Belial began to come to the island. Soon there were three major towns. Tartarus, a town of fishermen on a gulf; Caldun, a small village of hunters and trappers; and South Dawn, a rather large town of craftsmen. It wasn't long until Belial's eyes were on Weldenvarden. He sent out his army and had begun to take over what he thought was rightfully his. Weldenvarden was fighting a loosing war. A man and his wife, Brandon and Lena Goolsby, lived at the center of the island in a small cabin. Seeing what was happening to their newfound peace they rallied together the three towns and coordinated them into a formidable force that pushed out Belial. It wasn't long until the people under Belial rebelled and broke free, leaving for other places to call home. Some came to Weldenvarden. Because of what the Goolsbys had done, they were praised by the people. They responded with "it was just our duty to help the people of our land. Any of you would have done the same." It was that comment that started of the union of the three towns under the Goolsvy family. Although a monarchy, both the people and the monarchs never see it as such.

~timeskip~

Over the years Weldenvarden kept mainly to itself other then trade and peace treaties. Whenever wars broke out Weldenvarden simply kept out if it. But now a convening of powers has been called, and a messenger had arrived asking for the current kings presence.

Strengths: Being an island, its rather tricky to invade. There are only a few air landing areas because of the massive trees, so air invasions would be almost impossible. Invasion by sea tbc

Weaknesses:

Formal Name: The Aeolian Aerosocracy

Casual Name: Aeolians

Government: Clan-based Meritocracy (There are over a dozen individual clans, each with a Chief/Captain whom is elected for life by the rest of the clan. They also have a King/Queen, but they are elected more as representatives of the Aeolian people to the Foreign nations, or for leaders of all the clans in times of crisis.

Constitution: Yes, though not specifically a written one. The Aeolian Constitution is merely a set of traditional laws, or social contract passed down by elders to children. It pertains to their meritocratic traditions of electing leaders, and allows them to remove or replace leaders if they prove to be inferior in terms of leading than others.

Population: 170,000 (Though only around 25,000-30,000 live around their actual capitol at any one time unless called. Which means the rest are dispersed throughout the world.)

Currency: Various. Due to their nomadic nature, the Aeolians do not have a specific currency of their own, they often carry many different types of currencies and use weights and measures to ensure that they can make decent trades. This practice often infuriates outsiders since the practice is prone to Aeolians cheating them out of money.

Geographic Location: The Aeolians can be found all over the world, as their fleets of airships travel around in circuits of annual "pilgrimages" which are made up anew each year by the captains of each clan with the help of the elders. These routes can change based on many factors, coal and helium prices, relations between the Aeolians and the national governments, weather patterns, and any number of other problems.

Capitol: Svalbard, which thanks to the increase in temperature globally has become inhabitable by larger groups of humans. The Aeolians chose it because of its remote location, far from established lands, where they could assemble in private if necessary.

Language: Various dialects of Norwegian, Swedish, Finish are the common languages. Samoyed and Icelandic are the minor ones as they come from those backgrounds, through some of the clans are fluent in the languages of the lands they travel.

Major Religion: Neo-Norse Pagan. The Aeolians took the mythology of Norse Gods and Goddesses of their ancient ancestors and have re-invisioned them for their modern times. The focus is on the skies, with Gods and spirits of the air, clouds, and winds reigning supreme, and their sky ships, the longboats of the new age. By flying as close to the realm of their Gods as they can mortally reach, they believe that they can live more enlightened lives, with some who have historically gone to extreme heights and come down with revelations from Odin, Thor, Freya, or any of the other Gods(though whether some of these "enlightened" are just suffering from oxygen deprivation or altitude sickness to cause these hallucinogenic lapses is debated). Whether Radical or conventional, the Aeolians live their religion every time they take to the skies.

Culture: The Aeolian culture derives from its Scandinavian backgrounds, but it has given them a unique twist to compliment their love of the open skies and nomadic nature. Each airship is essentially its own microcosm of the Aeolian culture, carrying with them mementos and stories of all the places they have seen and peoples they have met, which serve to showcase their relations with those cultures. A Aeolian clan without an airship is one of very low standing in the nation, as they are seen to be inexperienced with the realities of the world, static, and anchored to the ground they were born on, as far away from the Sky Gods as they can get without dying or working underground.

History: The Aeolian Aerosocracy's founding date essentially coincides at the same time which the first airship were built in Scandinavia, as it was at this time when some of the first pilots of these craft thought it would be a liberating idea to be able to fly anywhere in the world they wished without being tied to a military organization or a government which were the two main groups which owned the first airships. Many got nostalgic about the idea, constructing some of them as similar to the viking longships their early ancestors used to sail the seas. Thus, either through theft, purchase, or having been released from service, these airship captains along with their crews and their families broke off from their respective original owners and started flying around independently.

This was not an organized uprising or act of any sort though. It wasn't until these people realized that there were other ships and crews doing the same thing did they decide that it would be to their benefit to organize themselves as an actual group entity rather than individual ships. Thus the first fleets were formed, with the claiming of Svalbard and the official declaration to the world as Aeolians being the final step in becoming a "nation". Now though, the Aeolians mostly build their own ships rather than take someone else's, thereby attracting new flier families and expanding old ones, and although their government and flying patterns are much more organized than before, the Aeolians still roam the skies in search of new places to visit or to revisit old ones in their endless pilgrimages. Even though their arrivals in foreign lands may not be appreciated by the locals...

Strengths: They have some of the most experienced aeronauts in the world, and have debatably the largest airship fleet in the world if they are ever all assembled in one place. They also work very well as consultants on various cultures around the world, for as a people they have visited nearly all of them. Many of them also are sharp traders and money-lenders due to their necessity to working with hundreds, if not thousands of different currencies.

Weaknesses: Airships are extremely varied in design and quality (as both are reflected by the wealth and access to resources a clan has). There is also not much uniformity among the Aeolian people aside from their love of the skies and the dues they pay to any leaders they have, but even then there is often rivalries and conflicts between the clans that complicate any organized events between multiple clans (for this reason, musterings of the fleets are called as few times as necessary). Due to their varied natures, external cultures more often than not will view Aeolians as interlopers, if not downright flying squatters for their proclivities to causing trouble the longer they stay in a particular place.

Yeah, though they separated off from the mainland countries a while ago and don't exactly look like your average Scandinavians due to their travelling lifestyles, but yes.

Nation CS

Formal Name: The Procellian Empire/ The Empire of Procellia

Casual Name: Procellia

Government: Constitutional Monarchy with a single house parliament. There is also an elected court (The Court of His Majesty) that interprets the constitution. Currently most of the power resides with the monarchy, due to political corruption in the Parliament.

Constitution: Yes. Rights include freedom of speech, scientific endeavor, education, press, weapons ownership, fresh water, food, trial in court, to be free from abuse, to have children, to vote, to protest, to assemble in peace, to petition, to speak with the nobility, to speak with representatives, to security in your property. It is notable that the right to freedom of religion is excluded from the constitution.

Population: 1.4 Billion

Currency: The Ake (named for the King who unified the empire in the first theocratic war). It is a piece of silver that is roughly 1 and a half troy ounces in weight, also called a "Procellian ounce"

Geographic Location: Antarctica

Capitol: Reca (Cern is the religious capitol)

Language: Procellian

Major Religion: The vast majority of the population on the mainland is Atheist however the Fofesh Islands (with 1/3 of the population) follow the native religion of Haula.

Haula is trademarked by demon worship. They have a large pantheon of demon gods worshiped by various groups; however all recognize the royal family as literal demon rulers on earth, chosen to guide the nation.

Culture: Procellia is notable for a near religious obsession with science and technology, due to the large Atheist population and free public education. The population is very soft-spoken, and patience and calm are the central tenants of their temperament. It is often noted how obsessively polite and respectful the people are, in addition to the whole nation taking life casually (except for the Fofesh islands where the old caste system is still on the books). The combination of their laid back temperament, slow pace of life, and focus obsessive politeness makes it so politics is a dreadfully long process. They are also very environmentally conscious, a leftover from when the entire nation followed Haula.

History: There is no solid founding date however the first historical evidence of civilization on the continent dates back to ten thousand years ago. The first theocratic war united the country under a single ruler in 1600 BCE.
In the third theocratic war the Atheists rose up against the long standing theocracy and after a one hundred year war Atheism became the predominant force on the mainland, and democracy was established with the founding of The People’s Parliament. However, the monarchy was left in existence to appease the religiously devout Fofesh islanders. The war officially ended with the signing of the new constitution in 0 BCE.
For the past two millennia the center of power has shifted back and forth between the parliament and the monarchy as one or the other became corrupt. There have also been several minor civil spats, which were actually wide spread political disobedience and had no bloodshed, between the mainland and Fofesh over the legitimacy of the elected officials in Reca.

Strengths: Procellia has some of the largest mineral deposits in the world including coal. They also have a well educated population and strong work ethic. In addition to a homeland that is difficult to invade due to punishing winters and a rocky geography.

Weaknesses: Political processes stretch out for great lengths, and the nation still feels a subtle divide between the mainland and FoFesh (like in the US north vs south). Due to their isolation they also do not have a well-developed economy, and businesses are not used to competition. They also have a very small military due to fear of war and distrust of military in general, a carryover from the third theocratic war. They are also geographically isolated from the rest of the world due to their long harsh winters and political leadership’s policies.

Ect: The Procellians are albino, and are notable for their strong Asian features such as slanted eyes and soft features. The royal family is easily distinguished by their purple eyes and curly hair.

They also have adopted nuclear power widely due to their environmental concerns.

They are so isolated that nobody has been in Procellia since the third theocratic war. To most of the world the nation is a mysterious land, and very little is know about it other than what can be seen from space and rumors.

Formal Name: The Independent Society for the New World Order

Casual Name: New Beginning

Government: Technocratic Democracy. There are 3 levels of Government, from lowest to highest they are the Representatives, the Council, and the President. The Representatives are in charge of each individual specialization. The Council are in charge of the different sections of the city. The President has ultimate say over administrative actions, and approves or vetoes those decisions sent to him by the Council. Each position of Government is elected.

Constitution: Each person that chooses to live on New Beginning must: Swear off all ties of their past, change their name, affirm that they will uphold the Fundamentals, create a positive change on the world, help their fellow citizen and do more than what is simply required. Should anyone fail to uphold these promises they may go before a jury of their peers, or they may leave.

Population: 50,000 on New Beginning, another 100,000 on the various nearby islands.

Currency: The in-nation currency is based around resources, different jobs citizens have offer different levels of resource access. This can convert into the currencies of different nations for trading purposes.

Geographic Location: Around Samoa and Australia.

Capitol: New Beginning

Language: English

Major Religion: There is no religion. Damion believes that religion can only delay his vision. As part of throwing off any ties to their past, everyone coming to New Beginning must give up their former religion.

Culture: Each citizen is motivated by Damion's’ Fundamentals, upon which the city is based. They are eccentric in thought, highly intellectual, and hard working. They strive to be athletic scholars. Tropical style food is prevalent.

History: A young man had a vision of a new world and sought to bring it into being, to do so he traveled the world and befriended those he thought were extremely gifted, those that would have a lasting mark on the future world. To these people he shared his dream. Not all of them agreed with his vision of the world, some felt extremely threatened, but as this man grew more powerful, more and more of those he visited believed him and wanted to help him. It took 50 years to gain the funds and resources to begin his project, 50 years for those people he befriended to gain enough of their own power to help him reach his goal. Thus was Damion Mantrez able to fulfill his dream of creating the new nation that would change the world. Since then another 50 years have passed, the city is growing and Damion’s son, Alexander, is currently President.

Strengths: Can only be attacked by air and sea. Each citizen trained to defend the island. Highly innovative and intellectual people. Working on new technologies.

Weaknesses: People perceived as arrogant. Low populations. Lack of resources available to continental nations. Dependent on the sea, trading, and farms for food, can easily be starved out. Hurricanes and earthquakes are common.

ECT: The city is in the shape of a circle and is divided into 4 areas: the Hub (the central area where the governmental offices are located. Includes places to relax and socialize), the Past (focuses on areas on the past that must be remembered for the future. Such specializations include history and culture), the Current (focuses on improving what is currently in place, to prepare for the future. Such specializations include infrastructure and social services), and the Future (focuses on creating the future. Such specializations include science and technology). Each section is focused on fundamentals for society. The different specializations of each section pick a leader who than reports to the Council.

Every man woman and child coming to New Beginning has a job to do, they must work hard for the resource access that they are given. As each job is intellectual, Damion wished to keep each citizen humble, and personally involved in the upkeep (construction, cleaning, aka anything that might be considered menial) of the island, this is done in rotations. Each citizen is trained in self-defense, and must be ready to defend the island if so required.

Nation CS

Formal Name: Tama Financial Group

Casual Name: Saba

Government: Corporate Structure / Aristocracy. Saba is a privately owned territory administrated exclusively by the Tama family.

Constitution: No.

Population: ~20,000 Citizens + ~30,000 registered migrant workers

Currency: Standard 1 Troy ounce gold and silver coins. The value of gold to silver is 2:1 in Saba. All coins minted in Saba display the crest of the ruling family.

Geographic Location: Saba lies on the coast to its West, with mountains framing its borders on all other sides.

Capitol: Saba (nation is essentially a city-state)

Language: Sabaean, English

Major Religion: Saba does not designate an official religion for the state. Rather, it is both accepting and critical of all beliefs that pass through its borders. The Tama family themselves are non-religious and non-spiritual. However, the Sabaean people are primarily water-worshipers. Everybody is allowed to worship their respective beliefs, so long as it does not interfere with work for Tama Financial.

Culture: The Tamas are large proponents of the "Saba First" mindset, where Sabaean welfare takes precedent over all else in their realm. However, they've also begun a trend of accepting all cultures. Their galleries and libraries are filled with works from foreign lands, on display for most anyone to view. Their governance is substantially socialist, where a cut of profits go towards providing for Sabaean welfare, ensuring no Sabaean sinks to some lowly socioeconomic status. They embrace the values of pride, honor, and duty, but also have a willingness to progress forward.

Philosophy is one of the largest studies in Saba, with hundreds of schools of thought being promoted and critiqued in such a small, dense area. Education has become a staple, as well as proprietorship and public service. Military training is a cornerstone in academia, but service is left up to the individual. Universities in themselves teach a spectrum of fields, with foreign professors available to provide a wide array of input. Religious centers are also embraced, being thought of as merely applied philosophy.

In accordance to marriage, Sabaeans are encouraged to race-mix, as they believe in with strengthen the Sabaean race as a whole. The Tamas themselves make an effort to keep their bloodlines Sabaean, but they do accept their children taking on spouses of wealthy, prominent families. Incest is somewhat accepted, although looked down upon as it is seen as closed-mindedness.

Aesthetics plays a major role in maintaining Saba's pride. There are no slums in Saba, and the Tamas have ensured that Sabaeans retain their dignity, even in public housing. All construction projects are overseen by Tama Financial, and standards are put in place to ensure no inch of Saba is disgraced by poor architecture or planning.

History: Several decades ago, Sabaeans were a nomadic people in desert regions further South and East. They were a scattered people, and few actually lived in cities, albeit those cities were set up by other nations. After a time, the Sabaean family of Tama began the process of purchasing sections of land by the coast, hoping to set up a sort of tourist destination. The Tamas used to exclusively employ Sabaeans, and allowed them to settle in their territory. As years passed, the region flourished as a melting pot for world arts. The collections of Saba generated a lot of interest, and spectacular libraries and galleries were constructed to feed this growing interest.

With the world situated on their culture, the Tamas began organizing their financial system, with their central bank and its openness to international money. With its new found wealth, the Tamas took on more land in the region and consolidated their land into a single deed, and documented all Sabaeans as official residences, whether or not it was actually the case. They set up their own trained military, which also became available for private contracts on the transnational level. They began to set up public education for Sabaeans, and they sent their children to Universities in foreign lands, as well as accepting high-profile students to their own renowned Universities.

The Tamas became one of the largest private landowners in the region, and their corporate state found great success for the Sabaean people. Outsiders began flooding in for work, and Saba took only those most qualified to cater to it. Both immigration and tourism became incredibly strict, and corporate money was being primarily allocated towards the Sabaean public, effectively ending poverty among its people.

Strengths:

  • Financial stability / trading power: Saba's increasing wealth, and the Tama's profound business tradition, has facilitated Saba's prosperity.

  • Highly trained military: Saba's military tradition, and small population, allow for more focused and specialized training.

  • Cosmopolitan education: Because Saba embraces all cultures and beliefs, it allows for better exploration into all schools of thought. Diversified mindsets have proven effective in Sabaean education, with many Sabaeans finding employment in fields of transnational affairs or transnational studies.

Weaknesses:

  • Fairly small population: There are only ~20,000 ethnic Sabaeans, and Saba does not allow non-Sabaeans to have anything higher than a permanent resident's license. This is seen as the most effective way in managing the population.

  • Professional obligations: Many of Saba's services, including financial and military, are often contracted and implemented by foreign entities. Although Sabaeans are taught to retain loyalty to Saba, their professional obligation to their work in Saba conflicts when they are hired to serve these foreign entities.

ECT: Sabaean skin ranged from deep tan to a darker hue. Average height is around 6'2, although race-mixing has slightly affected this. They embrace healthy lifestyles, and many actually make careers in achieving physical perfection.
