That's pretty much the case. Last year I started in a completely new school, then halfway through the year I moved across the country to a whole other new school. I'm not really missing anyone.

Pros: Don't have to do anything afterwards.
Cons: Depending on the school, most of your teachers will expect more of you than what you had to do in physical school.
Pros: Work is usually multiple choice.
Cons: Teachers are bad at getting back to you.
Pros: You can go back through everything another time and studying is a little easier.
Cons: Work piles up easily. If you miss even one day you will have work to do for the next several months.
Well aware of the boost in difficulty as well as the higher responsibility expectations. I took a single class online last year and did quite well with that, was much easier than traditional schooling to me. I think I learn better non-traditionally.
