Hi, just wondering if this thing works.

Edited: After I saw the Tallgeese's case, I would change my question into. "How much handicap one have to take in order to start with that thing."

Sorry for the delay folks, I was a little busy last night. I'll be around as long as needed tonight. I've already talked with my Co-GM about all the CSs and questions posted, including the ones PM'd, and between us we're tackling them now.

@Reno: The only thing we'd prefer is if you could elaborate on her appearance a little (usual attire, etc.), and pin down her age, if possible. No real issues, and other than those, that CS is perfectly fine.

@Ruby: This is one we talked about a little; We don't mind if you use a Quebely, but we would prefer it nerfed a little. Our thoughts were mostly along the lines of the funnels, specifically, the number and their use. If you were to cut down on the number of funnels, say to five to ten, that would be a start. We feel that number would still allow for their efficient use, while still not being too powerful. Secondly, it should be noted that funnels were made with Newtypes in mind; your character would be able to use them, but it would be like a second set of controls. Switching from controlling the funnels to controlling the suit would require taking their hands off of the controls for one to use the others.

That said, please feel free to give your thoughts and talk to us about it. We're happy to discuss possibilities.

@Everone: Now, two things to touch upon briefly. Firstly, it occurred to us that we hadn;t explained something; you'll all be starting with these suits, but you will get the chance to upgrade them, and even change suits entirely later on. Secondly, we haven't properly explained how timelines work here; you might note, for example, that we have a GM and a Jegan. Canonically, the Jegan was newer than the GM, and more improved. That's to a degree true here as well; the Jegan is still designed based on the GM, but it isn't massively superior inherently. All newer suits have their strengths, but they're considered to be largely on par with other suits.

The logic being, for example, that a GM is still in service because they're just that capable and hardy. A Jegan is a little higher tech, but it doesn't outclass one in and of itself.

TL;DR, newer does not inherently equal better. All player suits have roughly equivalent 'power', they're just differently specialized. This is mostly to prevent someone who picked a newer suit from curb-stomping everything. =P

Looks good to me. We've also accepted MysT3CH's CS, and I'm in the process of working on my own. I'll likely get the OOC posted once the final details are done, and the majority of those who've expressed interest have completed CSs.

As a side note; Reno, would you mind if I were to use a GM? There are a ton of models, from you had one first, so I'd rather check with you before I contemplate their use. =P

It is not Gundam if there are no GMs. :p Besides, since we are limiting ourselves to (usually) mass-produced MSs, not using GMs would severely limit the choices, so go ahead!
It is always possible to say that GM is so generic and efficient (lots of spared parts, fewer training need to refit units, etc.) that it has become a staple of MS in this universe.

Oh that's how I've treated them, in my head at least. It is no longer relevant, however, as my Co-GM pleaded and pleaded until he finally found a non-UC mobile suit I liked. He was rather distraught at the prospect of being the only non-UC mobile suit. XD

Still haven't entirely decided, though. It's an internal debate that's been raging for days. So many choices.

On one hand, if I choose a UC suit, my Co-GM will glower at me for days. On the other...

GM variants are so greeeeeeeat.

I'm pondering a customized GM Sniper II. Or an Armored GM. Co-GM is pushing for non-UC. In which case Shaldoll Scout or Genoace Fox Custom.

such problems. why must decisions be so hard

Hmm, just saw this thread...

I have a quick query; Would a TMF/A-803 LaGOWE be acceptable? Failing that a TMF/A-802 BuCUE?
I've always had something of a soft spot for the quadruped suits.

@Krayzikk
Since I am quite a fan of swarm weaponry, I would like to see a way to summon all those impressive number of funnels and still not being overpower, is it possible to make it like:
The character only shown a slightest sign of NT ability, his psycho-wave is yet in control, that his attack are far less effective than any developed NTs. The aiming and the coordination will be just bad, making the impressive attack just looks impressive, sometimes it may hit some newbies or unprotected ships... but anyone who knows how to dodges at all will be ashamed if this kind of attack lands.
Only when he reduce the active funnels below ten, and concentrate at aiming (not quite able to control the MS effectively) he can make some more threatening strikes.
Sure he will become more developed as everyone picking up their new upgrades, maybe there are some other ways to drive him over his normal limit, I will just leave it to the plots (GM-side), with or without side effects, though I am always happy to suggesting possibility.

Also, do you accept Otokonoko characters? That meant a feminine boy who dresses and looks like a cute girl in most aspects.

As Krayzikk appears to be sleeping or dead or something, I'll handle the inquiries. Keep in mind that these answers aren't definite and Krayzikk still has the final word.

@Gat I have no real problems with the BuCUE and would in fact love to see you use one. We might have to go over specific power level details, but I don't see any immediate issues with the unit.

@rubymeow
So definite no for now on the New Type powers, Krayzikk and I have yet to work out how New Type-esque powers are going to work in this RPG and they will come later. That said if you want impressive looking attacks that are fairly useless against any pilot that can dodge I do have the following suggestion. Essentially it'll continue off the fact that you'll have to use two separate control schemes. What I'm thinking is it'll be a bit of a dual boot esque system, requiring you to shift the controls from the mech to the funnel, this would obviously have an inherent delay in switching, and would leave you unable to control the mech itself during funnel use. Basically it would leave you wide exposed to any pilot who got past your funnels.

Would such an idea work?

As far as the Otokonoko, I really see no problem with it.

@Onarax
A dual system would works, as either mode of this Quebely still process considerable power, compare with average mass production units.
At the funnel mode, can he still chose between like 10 more effective funnels and 30 funnels which fairly useless again those can dodge?

Great, the Otokonoko actually trying to act like a shadow of his sister after some event, still WIP though.

BTW, are the NTs just yet to available to PCs or is still WIP for the world settings?
Even my character cannot show any NT abilities, my background draft invoke hints that his sister (now appears to be dead or something) is among the gifted.

I wasn't dead, just dead to the world. Hibernation is an important daily part of my existence, Onarax. You know this. =P

I'll leave the funnel queries to Onarax, as he seems to have them well in hand, but I can tackle the Newtype issue; simply put, we haven't worked out what they'll be like here. It's an original setting, and while we're borrowing mobile suits, most other aspects are being created by us. We've discussed Newtypes, and concluded that we will eventually have their equivalent for this universe, but we haven't yet worked out what abilities they will manifest, what they'll be called, and why they'll exist. Obviously there are other aspects we'd need to work out as well, but those are the big ones.

TL;DR They'll exist later, after we've finalized all of their details. =P

@rubymeow

In answer to the funnel queries, which Krayzikk so graciously dumped on me, it'll basically boil down to the following: The reason ten funnels would be more effective than thirty is solely because it's easier for the pilot to focus on merely ten funnels as opposed to thirty funnels. As you lower the number of objects you're the more effective they'll be. I'd imagine the average pilot could easily handle five or so with great efficiency. As technology and piloting skills improve that number will increase as well. Also as far as power levels of the Quebely I do wish to direct you towards Krayzikk's early post about older and newer suits. Your Quebely won't be definitively stronger or weaker than any of the other mass production units used by players(unless said player is using a Desperado or a Ball, in which case you sir are glorious.), rather it will just have certain advantages not possessed by other suits. In this case the funnels.

Power levels in what sense? I'd imagine it would be a little on the lower scale, it is after all a pre-gundam cosmic era suit, even with the flat lining of capabilities (so to speak) most of the other suits asked about so far have been Mass production suits that are either based on a gundam or built after gundams showed up and built on things learned from the gundams. (course the LaGOWE would fit into that second category itself, but I'm talking about the BuCUE here :p)

So yea either way I'll start working on a character after I reread the original post and get a better idea of the custom universe and its factions.

@Gat I suppose I wasn't as clear as I should have been. Essentially I was just mentioning that when we see the profile there might be specific power level inquiries regarding the mech. As I stated I couldn't think of any immediate issues, but just wanted to err on the side of caution.

If that was clear, I suppose another way of phrasing would be: It should be fine, but there's always the chance adjustments might be needed when the CS is up.

Hopefully that answered your question.

Yea that makes sense, its a pretty basic suit though so I cant imagine what if anything would need it, its key advantages is land speed and stability over humanoid suits, but its less versatile since it has no manipulators and can only use weapons integrated into it.

So yea that part of my CS is the easy bit to work out, the opening post mentioned elaborating on the major factions if anyone was interested. I'm interested and asking. :p

Edit:
Mocked up the MS profile since its easy to do while I'm still at work. Yay for quiet Fridays.
