It's just a euphemistic way of saying "there is nothing remarkable about you", which isn't rude insofar as it's just honest.

You're acting like honesty is exempt from being rude. Potentially rude honesty is only not so when the person asks for it.

No, and it can be. However, that's not how I mean it. I only blend people together when I don't interact with them much, or haven't yet. Did it with kb and tp, kuro and kaga, serp and sera a little, etc.For me it's not really a "you're unremarkable" thing because I don't see people that way. It's more about being aware of people I know very little about.
