Ever since the INTO council was forced to sign the Resource Distribution Charter at gunpoint, the human species has spread across the Sol system at a seemingly impossible pace. The Jupiter Excursion made by the Werner von Braun spacecraft in 2075 opened to door to Jupiter's moon system, which was developed fully within ten years. Another expedition was sent to Saturn by the megacorporation Galileo Development, using an antimatter drive developed by the same man who created the Tandem-Mirror engine for the Von Braun: Werner Locksmith. With Jupiter fully developed, this new antimatter drive not only made trips as far as Pluto possible, but allowed much quicker trade between the outer colonies and Earth. With everyone investing in space and signing up for colony projects, cultural and language barriers began to break down. Terrorism became rarer and rarer, with fewer people seeing logic in killing for any reason. Perhaps the greatest milestone was the unification of the European Union (which now included Russia due to a major political revolution) and North American Federation into one nation, known as the Euro-American Federation. South America eventually joined this union, having gotten rid of economic problems due to the Resource Distribution Charter. The nations of Africa joined with little fanfare, simply being accidentally assimilated due to extensive development and aid projects. Finally, the Asian nations gave in to the new worldwide nation, finding very few important cultural differences by then.

Finally, humanity was united under one banner: the Earth Alliance. While one might think that the colonies rebelled, they didn't. The cultural melting pot of space combined with fair treatment made them find no reason to. In 2130, the first starship was launched. It utilized a massive antimatter drive, requiring ten kilometers to house it and the required coolant systems. This starship (dubbed the EIV Armstrong) was sent to the Alpha Centauri system to prove that interstellar travel was possible. As it turned out, it was. Unfortunately, Alpha Centauri held no habitable worlds and the transport of colonial resources would be a waste of money as a result. Instead of giving up, Fergus McClain (the captain of the Armstrong) founded the Nova Terra Society, an organization dedicated to searching for and reaching habitable worlds.

As luck would have it, they found one. A rather unexpected one as well: Gliese 581g. The planet was the first habitable exoplanet that was found, but its existence was refuted by science since then. The NTS detected and confirmed it in late 2142. Using telescopes from all over the Sol system, the NTS managed to get a clear picture of the planet. They saw exactly what they were hoping for, a tiny blue dot, just like Earth. They immediately created a press release, drawing interest from industry titans such as Galileo Development, Technora Corporation, and Red Spot Propulsion. The NTS managed to create a contract binding them all together with the goal of building a starship capable of transporting two thousand colonists to Gliese 581g. An entirely new antimatter engine was designed, utilizing room-temperature superconductors built by rearranging particles themselves. The hull was two feet of solid carbon nanotubes, with a hundred layer projectile shield at the front. Four antimatter drives were mounted on nacelles at the front, with nozzles pointing both ways to enable deceleration. Four colony pods were taken, each carrying five hundred colonists. An additional thousand personnel came onboard the central hull, meant to return to Earth after refueling from the red dwarf star Gliese 581.

You have signed up for this mission. Maybe you want to see things nobody has seen before, maybe you want to settle down somewhere where the land is free and untamed. Perhaps you simply want to get away from the rest of humanity, or perhaps you have a secret motive that only a few people know. Maybe something that would, shall we say, give you an immediate fail of the psychology test? Whatever your motives, you went through the training and passed every course. Thing is, a lot of other people passed two, far more than three thousand. You are now at Tranquilitis Mare Medical Center on the Moon, waiting for the email that will tell you whether you earned yourself a spot on the EIV Starfire. Due to the vast distances involved, everyone who is chosen will be put into stasis for the entire trip, to emerge when the vessel reaches Gliese 581g.

Appearance: Michael the Janitor.
Personality: Michael is a loving guy, he is also very talkative often stopping to talk to everyone, he loves cleaning and keeping things organized, his motto is "Cleaning also rubs away those dirty spots on the soul.", but amongst all of that there is a serious and stern side to him, he absolutely hates anyone who litters or doesn't clean up after themselves.

History:Michael was born on earth to John and Linda Union two great engineers, who wished nothing else than their son to be an engineer too, but as he grew older he sought other pursuits mostly chasing after his on again off again girlfriend Jamie, but the boy was also very bright like his mother and father and his teachers instilled that belief in him that he could do anything, so he joined a Privately owned military company as a "Security Specialist" which he realized was just a fancy word for hired killer he and his team burned a swathe across the colonies, only for Michael to run away and join on with a ship that was heading out to Jupiters moon as a janitor.

On this ship he served as their janitor and he did a damn fine job everything was clean and spotless, but the trip had to come to an end and, Michael was out of the job when it ended, and he didn't want to stay on land for long, less someone find out he fled from his duties. So he worked from ship to ship as a janitor until he ended up on Tranquilitis Mare, there he found out about a ship heading into the far reaches of space, to a new colony. Michael couldn't turn down this once in a lifetime opportunity so he signed up and passed testing, now all he has to do is wait.

Name: Fergus McClain
Appearance:
Personality: Fergus McClain, despite his fame, has continued to be somewhat quiet for his entire life. However, he has also shown himself to be an extremely capable captain, falling into a state of obsession when his crew is in danger. If he's in space and there's a window, you can almost always find him at that window. He refuses to speak of certain, seemingly random, parts of his past.
Role: Fergus McClain is the Captain of the vessel, but always refuses to stay on the ship when his crew is away exploring.
History: Fergus McClain was born on Earth in the late 2090's, and he always seemed too smart for his age. When everyone else was reading picture books, he was reading spaceflight encyclopedias. That was one of the more interesting things about him, he always liked space. He never went through the stereotypical phases of a young boy, he simply kept looking up at the sky and wishing he could leave the Earth. Unfortunately, neither of his parents liked space, nor were they willing to spend the money to send Fergus up.

Realizing the only way he could leave would be getting hired by a space development corporation, he started to work harder and harder. By 7th grade he had constructed a particle accelerator and a nuclear reactor to power it (the latter was harder, for some reason). Not surprisingly, he managed to land a scholarship to the Martian Planetary University (one of the best universities in the Solar system). All travel fees paid for. The ship he was brought in on was a passenger liner, it had all the facilities of home, even a 1g gravity ring instead of the normal .6g ones. Fergus tended to stay in the zero-g section, stargazing from the observation lounge.

He majored in Physics (Quantum and General physics are both included in the course at MPU), showing extreme devotion to it. It is odd that he was so interested in physics, especially since he became a starship commander. Nevertheless, he ended up with a PhD at only 28, and immediately applied for a job as a debris hauler with Technora Corporation. He was turned down, reportedly on a psychological basis. Instead, he ended up working for the Orbital Security Agency as an engineer. He moved up the ranks with surprising speed, and became a captain in no time. That was when he got the call from Galileo Development, inviting him to Captain the Centauri Expedition. Obviously, he jumped at the chance.

Ever since that expedition, he has become completely and absolutely obsessed with interstellar travel. He founded the Nova Terra Society, and funded it out of his own pocket while still working for the OSA. He suggested the Large Scale Targeted Scan (LSTS), a project involving every willing telescope in Sol to focus on one object. He was also the one who made it start with the Gliese 581 system, saying he thought there might be something there. Ever since Gliese 581g was confirmed, he has been far more outgoing, though he still keeps mostly to himself.

Personality: Letixia is a very shy and introverted person, bashful and nervous under the scrutiny of anyone with a hint of authority. She often comes of as socially awkward, but all in all is a kind and caring person. She is not a people person. She is, however, a hard worker, a trait instilled in her by her father. He is a titan in the food production industry on Earth, but when Leti was young, he had but a small farm. He showed her that hard work and dedication to your craft could achieve anything. While she does not seek out danger, she has learned some in the ways of protecting herself and survive. But in light of all of this, he never could make her into a leader. Leti excels in her field, but she cannot manage people, and has therefore never seen a rise in ranks that requires more than skill.

History: Letixia was born in the great plains of what was formerly the United States of America on a small farm. Her mother was a teacher, her father a commercial farmer, and she was the fourth and final child to them. Her, and her three brothers, went through school, while working on the farm. One brother went on to become a doctor, another enlisted in the military, and the other became a teacher. Letixia went to school for botany, and later went on to get her Doctorate in Plant Genetics with a specialty in Sustainable Horticulture and Food Production.

Having graduated she returned home to find the farm was beginning to fail despite her father's best efforts. Larger, commercial grade farms were simply far more efficient. So Leti went to work to find a way to save it. Hundreds of hours research, and she had an idea. Earth's fossil fuels were near depleted, and while society had moved on to more advanced forms, they still had the main purpose of producing plastic from them. Over several years, she developed a crop, a hybrid of corn, castor bean, and soybean, that would become known as the Buster Bean, named after a dog she had at the time. This crop could be grown in nearly any environment that had at least 15% sunlight access and meager amounts of water. Most of its nutrition would be pulled from the sun and the air, and it would not damage the soil. The bean itself could be processed into an oil that was not only clean burning, though still not a replacement for modern power sources, could be made into cheap, biodegradable plastics. It could also be processed into synthetic, highly nutritious foods.

Having secured the patent for the crop strain, her father became the sole producer of the Buster Bean. His little farm found great success, and soon, he had massive swaths of farmland on nearly every continent, and his company would found many of the farms on other moons and planets. But Leti had little interest in the business side of things. She enjoyed maintaining her gardens and greenhouses while doing research on her plants. When the Gliese 581g mission was announced, she signed up at the first chance she got. A planet with water that could support life would surely have its own flora. This was the chance of a lifetime to further her research. She was readily accepted, and with her parents' blessing left home.

Personality:David is a out-going and rowdy individual. He doesn't mind having a laugh and to quite a few can come of as annoying. He enjoys talking at length with others at can be found talking loudly and often says and does completely and utterly random things. He despite this is a good people person, and can often defuse situations between others and can understand one's feelings He however is easily angered, and when in a bad mood it is probably not a good idea to mess with him. Despite this he is quite kind and generous, and frequently shares with others out of the blue.

My school uses flipped learning, I usually get all my homework done in the car, so I can start if everyone here wants me to.
