LIEN
[Female | 25 | Foggy Swamp]

Never Used...

Lien is a spiritual and determined woman from the Foggy Swamp. While having lived a sheltered life in the mostly peaceful Swamp has given her a very relaxed and low maintenance personality where many aspects of life are concerned, when it's time to be serious, she can get down to business. However, if she can help it, she'll avoid physically fighting people, preferring instead to foster peace through civil discourse, but she is aware that words aren't always well received, and that action is often necessary. With that in mind, she does feel that all life is sacred due to the connections every living thing has to every other being. When it's necessary to kill - such as for food - she always speaks a prayer to help guide the being to the Spirit World.

At times, Lien can be rather naive about the world outside the Swamp though she's eager to learn in her own way and in her own time. Unlike many others in her Tribe, she often craves the adventure of leaving her homeland so she can experience new terrains and meet new people. She's very social, after all, and she isn't as fearful of the unfamiliar experiences as she probably should be. Even so, she understands that those who try to hurt others aren't as inherently good as those who attempt to aid people, and she knows to be wary. However, her good intentions and general naivety about the world around her could leave her easily susceptible to manipulation schemes.

Traits
Despite the rarity of the occurrence in the Foggy Swamp Tribe, Lien was born without the ability to bend water to her will. Instead of making her feel like an outsider, the Tribespeople taught her other ways to become a productive member. The first thing she learned was how to heal with herbs and plants. Lien took to it right away, thoroughly enjoying the tasks of helping those who became sick or wounded. It felt far more productive to her than learning how to fight in a Tribe as peaceful as hers. However, it was important that each member understand the necessity of protecting oneself and each other. The Tribe itself may have been peaceful, but there were predators and other dangers in the Swamp. She was taught how to utilize blow darts and knots and traps to avoid confrontation. For the same purpose, she was taught to move quietly but efficiently, to sneak away from danger. If it could not be avoided, she was taught to wield a bone knife. Because she could not propel their swamp skiffs conveniently herself, she taught herself to move through the trees atop branches. It didn't always end well when she first began to learn, but over the course of many years of practice, she's become quite adept at climbing and moving from place to place in unexpected ways.

Additionally, with the help of Huu, she became spiritually enlightened. He taught her how to use her natural ability to feel the life energy - or chi - in all living things to better understand just what each aspect meant. In this way, she felt like she could communicate with plants in a way that needed no tongue. From one simple organism like a plant, she learned to communicate with all others that stretched far and wide. As such, she could gather a vague understanding of almost anything occurring in areas of the Swamp, even in places where she wasn't currently standing. In this way, Huu trained her to become a better ally in defense of the Swamp though her lack of true fighting skills prevented her from becoming a true defender. Unfortunately, due to their greater complexity, living bodies have always been challenging to understand, and she's still learning to diagnose health problems using her understanding of life energy.

Relations
Huu | Male | 56 | Foggy Swamp Tribe | Living | Spiritual Mentor & Potentially Biological Father (though there's no way to verify)
Binh | 55 | Female | Foggy Swamp Tribe | Living | Healing Master
Phuoc | Male | 41 | Foggy Swamp Tribe | Living | Stealth and Traps Master
Suong | Female | 47 | Foggy Swamp Tribe | Living | Mother & Fighting Styles Master
Foggy Swamp Tribespeople (as a whole) | All Ages | Foggy Swamp Tribe | Some Deceased, Some Living | Taught her all aspects of life, spirituality, and her culture

History
Lien was not born to two parents as most children of the Swamp seemed to be. Instead, Suong's unexpected and unplanned pregnancy eliminated any marriage prospects she could have had. Lien was brought into the Tribe as a bastard, and though she was still treated as warmly as any kin, her lack of two, wed parents prevented her from the benefits of living with various families as she grew into a woman. Despite this, she was still permitted to learn various skills, but the lessons were rarely one-on-one or lengthy unlike the lessons legitimate children received. Even so, her Masters acknowledge her skills and sought to help her master them.

Within the Swamp, everyone had an equal opportunity to become something regardless of gender or bending ability. For Lien, though her mother had been hopeful that the child of her body would become a warrior, she made the decision for herself to take a very different path.

The path she eventually chose had less to do with parental influence and more to do with her natural abilities. From the time she could remember, she'd felt the energy of others almost as if it was calling to her. Her then-childlike mind had dubbed the chi within everyone "lifesongs" though it was't the kind of music she could hear with her ears so much as feel with her very being. She couldn't understand the complexities of the things this energy tried to convey, but there were some very basic, very vague notions she was able to eventually gather. Because of this, she always shied away from hunting, for the song always, inevitably, became more like a scream. Lien did not, at the time, have the strength to bear the change in the lifesongs of animals and plants that were maimed or harmed, and decided to try to focus her abilities elsewhere such as healing.

She was taught plant-based healing, and though she didn't like the confusing way energies felt when they came to be healed, the way they changed after a healing session or two always lifted her spirits. Under Master Binh's steady tutelage, Lien was able to learn a great deal about plant properties and mending the sick and injured.

It wasn't until she was on the cusp of entering her preteen years that she realized that others were unable to sense lifesongs the way she could, and she decided to try explaining it to someone in the hopes that she wasn't alone. This prompted Huu, one of four Council Members and the Tribe's spiritual advisor, to take notice of her. He took her to the Banyan-Grove Tree at the center of the Swamp, and after over a decade of training with Huu's steady guidance, she was finally able to understand the songs she felt in each living thing. More than that, she was able to connect them to each other and project herself through them to get a sense of other places and events as they occurred within other areas of the Swamp. While she still continued her studies in healing and non-confrontational weapons-use, her heart truly lay with Huu's spiritual teachings, and she worked hard to hone them.

Perhaps because of her strengthened spiritual abilities, a part of her became incredibly curious about the outside world. Her early attempts at projecting herself outside of the Swamp through the plants offered little success. After all, everything living in the Swamp was directly connected via the banyan-grove tree, but in the outside world, the connections were flimsier and would require a greater understanding if she was going to do it correctly. As a result, she often traveled closer and closer to the edge of the Swamp in order to attempt to extend her reach farther.

Unfortunately, the outside world wasn't quite what she'd hoped. On the edges of her home, she found humans who worked to cut back the Swamp foliage, to conquer it instead of working with it. Though Huu had tried very hard to spread fear to these outsiders, to make them believe there was a giant, monstrous Spirit protecting that land, he was simply one man who could not face those numbers alone.

When the Swamp's deforestation began to increase as more of these outsiders realized the angry Spirit hadn't killed anyone in their ranks, warriors from the Tribe banded together to help fight the outsider. Unfortunately, their unsophisticated weapons and bending were no match for the technological advances of people who wielded fire. They'd never seen weapons made of such hard, sharp stone, and they'd never seen fire emerge from a living being. Their ranks were decimated, and the Swampers were forced to retreat. Fortunately, the firebenders could not follow them into the Swamp lest they become lost in the maze and die.

The survivors of the onslaught brought the injured and dead back home. Even while they grieved for those they'd lost and sang them pathways into the Spirit World, they tried to come up with plans to prevent what was happening. A part of Lien knew that her healing abilities and spiritual guidance would be needed, but another part of her realized that the only way to defeat an outsider would be to find an outside sympathizer to help her. Thankfully, because of her travels to the Swamp's edges, she'd been privy to several meetings that were held at the northwestern borders of the Foggy Swamp, and she thought she knew how she could help her people best.

NIKITA DEVAR
[Female | Age Unknown | Ancient Lycan]

"Hunted: The Fall of Lycans" | OoC | Interest Check

Personality
Nikkita is a fair leader, always willing to listen to her followers and to implement their ideas if they could better the pack as a whole. She is also not the sort to shy away from getting toiling with the pack rather than sitting back and commanding them. Her dedication to the pack earns her great loyalty from her packmates.

In the centuries she's led, she's always felt that being the head of a pack was a very heavy burden, but she has been in a variety of packs where the Alpha had no idea how to properly lead her or his subjects. She would rather take the weight onto herself than to see her people fall onto the wrong path. She's never wanted the control, only to see her people prosper.

Despite only taking the position to be of service to her people, she will not tolerate disrespect from anyone. She feels she's earned the right to be respected, and she's lived too long to allow insubordination among a group that frequently votes and is allowed to provide input which is rather strange for lycan packs. Small slights are unimportant to her when done casually, but if the frequency increases or if they're larger than a simple complaint int he heat of the moment, she knows she needs to do something about it. Generally, she'll discuss it with the person in question because it really could be something she's doing wrong, but if there is no solution to be had, sometimes the only real path is to remove that person from the pack.

Opinions about her vary: some believe she is too soft with her pack while others think she is too strict, but she works very hard to provide a balance that will help the pack not only survive but also to live. Nikita knows all too well that survival and living are two very different things, and there's little point to the former without the latter.

Despite how inclusive she is to the members of her pack, she is somewhat distant personally. Her role is to lead not to befriend. Most of her packmates know very little about her life before they met her, and even when asked, she won't discuss past events or even her feelings with them. She isn't unemotional by any means, but to those who haven't been around her long, she comes across as rather icy. Her lack of a mate has been a small part of making her seem cold.

Appearance
Human Form:
5'3"
107 lbs.
Long, dark brown hair
Dark brown eyes
Light brown skin
Scars from other wolves and from hunters' weapons adorn her legs, abdomen, and back (generally concealed with clothing)

Wolf Form:
7'1"
375 lbs. of pure muscle
Dark brown fur
Glowing golden eyes
Long, deadly claws
Mouthful of sharp teeth
Humanoid body type with wolf's head and tail

Abilities & Skills
Can Change into Wolf-Form at Will
Greatly Increased Strength
Fantastic Sense of Hearing and Smell
Enhanced Eyesight
Immortality (immune to disease/illness and aging)
Great Tracking Skills
Stealthy
Can Wield a Cutlass and Daggers (though she prefers to use her claws if she can)

Relationships
Benedict Olivier | Male | 123 | Adult | Living | Pack Beta
Devar Pack | All Genders | Variety of Ages | Adolescent to Adult | Most Living, Some Deceased | Followers of Nikita Devar

History
Much of Nikita's history has been lost to the sands of time including her original name, but she does still retain some memory of her origins. She can recall the way she was given as a sacrifice by her parents to protect their small village. She recalls that she'd been born for that purpose. She can vaguely remember giant monsters with the faces of predators and bodies furred like an animal. Then there was a group that took her in so long as she remained obedient and useful. Unfortunately, the leader to whom she'd been sacrificed by the humans treated his pack poorly. She did not obey him, and she ended up a lone wolf.

This time of loneliness, for her, was as vast and as empty as an ocean. This is the time she cannot recall beyond living wild, hunting for food, and living in caves or anywhere else she could find. Her life revolved around survival and nothing more until the time came when she was taken in by another pack and taught better ways. These memories exist, but they are fuzzy, and her recollections aren't necessarily sound.

Her earliest true memories begin after she'd been with this new group for what they told her were decades. She'd apparently been in a catatonic state mentally, simply going through motions without any thought. They taught her control. They taught her to use her mind, to think, to feel, to enjoy life. No longer was she a feral animal, only intent on survival. She'd learned she could truly live.

In the sixteenth century. Nikita became an Alpha of her own pack and was greatly respected among lycans. They did not discriminate against her sex the way human societies did. However, there were some humans who were also loyal to her, who trusted her and who could be trusted in return. She was old, very old, and while leadership was a heavy burden, it was hers to bear. She was a good teacher, a good leader. She simply didn't know what was to come in the centuries after she became Alpha.

Hunters began a war she could not win though her people fought hard. She was forced into hiding with the rest, forced to lead in shadows as humans destroyed her people. She learned a great deal, but she couldn't save everyone. Many of her loyal pack members were taken from the world to be replaced by new pack members. It wasn't until last decade that the turnover rate for her pack slowed to a crawl as they became smarter, gained better control of their land and abilities, and they acquired better weapons. They learned to blend in with humans which helped keep the heat of hunters' gazes from their backs.

At the present, Nikita takes in pack members rather frequently, and she helps them train to not only master themselves but also to become productive members of her pack. Everyone does her or his part. Everyone is given a chance. Laziness isn't tolerated, but she is a fair leader. Unless they are dead, dismissed from the pack, or renounce their ties, no one in the Devar Pack is left behind.

Though Nikita is the leader of her pack, because she is a woman of colour in Europe, she chose a Caucasian male, her beta, to represent the group whenever humans are present. Benedict Olivier presents the face of a wealthy landowner and businessman. To humans, she and any other non-white or uneducated members of the pack are little more than a servants to a wealthy heir. This works rather splendidly because the social elite among humans tend to wag their tongues more freely around lowly servants who may not be able to even understand English than they would around their "equals."

Devar Pack Laws
01. Do not turn a human into a werewolf without the consent of both the pack and the human.
02. Purposeful killing of humans is expressly forbidden unless it is in self-defense.
03. Every member must have a role within the pack.
04. Every member must have a role in human society that benefits the pack as a whole.
05. No member, unless confirmed dead, will be left behind unless they explicitly renounce their ties to the pack.
06. Renounced ties must be heard by three or more pack members.
07. No one may enter the pack without majority approval and at least Nikita's and/or her Beta's approval on top of that.
08. Every voice will be heard, but once a decision is made, Nikita's word is law.
09. Pack members, for their safety, will always travel in pairs or groups, never alone.
10. The loser of a challenge for pack leadership, if not killed in the fight, will be expunged from the pack.

Joseph Allard
[Male | 22 | Hunter of SOHNS]

"Hunted: The Fall of Lycans" | OoC | Interest Check

Personality
Joseph is a very opinionated individual. He also exudes confidence. Though he may not be the most handsome Englishman in the country, he prides himself in his abilities as a Hunter and as a man who can make ladies swoon. While his confidence may be justified in the former respect, he's rather big headed where the latter subject is concerned. He doesn't seem to understand that many of the women with whom he flirts actually mock him behind his back, thus his confidence remains unwavering.

While the Hunter does believe that all women should learn self-defense against Lycans or evil humans, he believes that they should only be allowed to learn in order to protect their children and themselves at their homes. He firmly believes that all fieldwork should be left to the men, and therefore does not approve of any woman becoming a member of SOHNS.

He does believe that SOHNS should allow more men of colour to join their cause though he doesn't necessarily think they're in the same social league as well-to-do white men. He simply understands that Hunters need good numbers, and he'd heard that most Lycans weren't exactly discriminatory, so Joseph figures that more men of colour in SOHNS means fewer being taken into the fold of monsters.

When around people he deems his social equals (generally wealthy, white men), he likes to make jokes and have fun. He's a bit of a party boy though he does know to get down to business when it's time to be serious about his work with SOHNS. Above all else, being a Hunter is his passion, and as far as he's concerned, it's the only thing he's ever been good at. He feels that Lycans make for more exciting game than deer or boars ever could have. For Joseph, the danger is intoxicating but not nearly as much as the pride of the kill itself.

Appearance
5'11"
145 lbs.
Short, dark red hair
Grey-blue eyes
Pale skin
Covered, from head to toes, in freckles

Skills
Hunting Lycans
Wielding a musket
Wielding a crossbow
Wielding a smallsword with a silver coated blade

Relationships
Hiram Allard | Male | 51 | Status | Living | Father
Nora Allard | Female | Deceased | Mother
Members of SOHNS | Mostly Male | Various Ages | Some Living, Some Dead | Hunters

History
Joseph Allard's birth was planned and welcomed by both of his parents. Unfortunately, his mother didn't survive it. Instead, he grew up in a too-large manor with nannies and a somewhat distant father. While he initially loved his nannies, as he aged and learned more about high society, he began to do everything in his power to rid himself of them. The turnover rate was incredibly high as he terrorized them relentlessly. His father did little to nothing about his son's behavior, simply hiring a new caretaker each time Joseph managed to frustrate one enough for her to leave.

His relationship with his tutors wasn't much better. Generally, he had a difficult time focusing on school work, and the material rarely sunk into his head. He would have much rather gone on game hunts with his father or with anyone else as long as it could take his mind off of jumbled, confusing numbers and the mind numbingly boring literature he was forced to study daily.

Finally, when he was of age, his father bribed Joseph's way into an elite university. The only thing it did was to give the young Allard boy more excuses to lose himself in a life of partying rather than his studies. It was during one such night of inappropriate behavior that his life changed forever.

Joseph had been drinking heavily when he stumbled into the alley behind his favorite pub. He was about to relieve himself on the wall when he saw a massive creature with wolf-like features though its body was almost human despite the raw muscles and misshapen limbs. Without a second thought, the drunkard drew his gun and shot, managing to land a very good shot despite his double-vision. Unfortunately, the creature hardly even hesitated, growling in anger at the man. He quickly reloaded and shot once more before the beast rushed him. Just as its giant maw opened before his face, it's teeth dripping with saliva, a blade appeared from its chest right where the heart would lie. Blood soaked into Joseph's clothing as the beast fell atop him, breathing its last.

He quickly came to know that the blade had been wielded by a hunter who had felt remarkably impressed with Joseph's aim, especially in light of the boy's intoxication. Had his bullets been coated or tipped in silver, the beast may have been weakened by the shots. His savior sobered up the Allard boy and brought him to SOHNS. After dropping out of university to fully commit to the Hunters' cause, he spent the better part of three and a half years learning even more and helping them as a Hunter. Up to this point, he has had nine successful kills and at least twice as many assisted kills (those credited to others after wounds he inflicted weakened the beasts).

WINNIFRED "WINNIE" FELTON
[Female | 17 | Chapple Sanctuary Tailor]

"Hunted: The Fall of Lycans" | OoC | Interest Check

Personality
First and foremost, Winnie is naive and trusting. She truly believes that her family is helping the Lycans they house in the compound. She has a deep love for the Lycans but because of the way she grew up around them, she subconsciously feels like they're less like people and more like pets or dolls though she would never realize it consciously. Though she's curious what lies beyond Chapple Sanctuary - for she's never been off the compound - she doesn't have a deep need to leave. She feels safe and purposeful on the property. The only thing she really feels she lacks are opportunities to meet boys her age so she can find a husband. She does maintain strong friendships with her siblings and cousins, so she doesn't feel like she's lacking there.

On top of everything else, Winnie loves God. She prays every day, and she believes in His messages of love. As such, she firmly believes that all they do for the Lycans is rooted in her family's love for them. While she doesn't like when her family has to sometimes hurt or lock the Lycans away, she understands that it's for their own good and that without the Chapple guidance, every one of these Lycans would be dead. She is steadfast in this belief.

Appearance
5'1"
105 lbs.
Hip-length, curly blonde hair
Grey-blue eyes that look too big for her face
Pale, pink-toned skin

Skills
Adept at Sewing
Some cooking skills
Some cleaning skills
Good with a crossbow
Decent with a musket

Relationships
Byron Chapple | Male | 61 | Compound Leader | Living | Grandfather
Edna Chapple | Female | Deceased | Grandmother
Abraham Chapple | Male | 40 | Weapons | Living | Uncle
Vivian Felton | Female | 38 | Head Cook | Living | Mother
Calvin Chapple | Male | 30 | Living | Uncle
Louise Chapple | Female | 35 | Living | Step-Aunt
Silas Felton | Male | 43 | Merchant | Living | Father
Ezra Chapple | Male | 20 | Living | Cousin
Gideon Chapple | Male | 18 | Living | Cousin
Margaret Felton | Female | 23 | Religious Advisor | Living | Older Sister
James Felton | Male | 17 | Living | Twin Brother
Judith Felton | Female | 15 | Living | Younger Sister

History
Winnie Felton was born on the Chapple Sanctuary (though it's really more of a compound) five years after it was built. One hour later, her twin brother, James came into the world. The two essentially grew up with Lycans around them though they were always segregated from the main family. Like the other four women of the household, Winnie was taught to adhere to feminine standards of cleaning, cooking, and sewing while the men tended to more masculine things like fixing things that broke, woodwork, and gardening.

She was also taught from a young age to love God. Though they were not the kind of family who feared God's wrath as much as they accepted God's love, they still did their best to adhere to all of His teachings and to pray several times a day at meals and before bed. Winnie herself has a very strong connection with the idea that God loves all creatures of the Earth, humans and Lycans alike, for he would not have put them here otherwise. As such, she, too, genuinely loves the Lycans in the Chapple Sanctuary's care.

Because of her love of them, she takes it upon herself to make sure that each one has clothing that will feel comfortable but attractive on them. She'll often even ask them their preferences in colours and fabrics and cuts though some of her charges refuse to speak to her, leaving it up to her to guess what would be best. Despite her mere seventeen years, she's found that she's very handy with a needle and thread.

Her uncle also taught her to use a crossbow and a musket to help protect against Hunters should they try to harm the Lycans though she's sure it's also meant to be used to protect her should the Lycans try to harm her. Truthfully, she doesn't believe the latter will ever happen because of the safety precautions in place at the Sanctuary.

Though she loves her family and is especially close with her brother and younger sister, Winnie longs to marry some day. Her parents have given their assurance that they're searching for the right husband who would become a member of the Chapple Sanctuary. Because Margaret has shown interest in taking her vows as a nun, they can focus helping Winnifred first.

Backstory
Byron and Edna Chapple had been born into wealthy families who were loyal to the Lycans in height of their strength. Unfortunately, the Hunters began to decimate the ranks of their betters. In an attempt to offer refuge, the Chapples converted their estate into a sanctuary where Lycans could hide from Hunters and learn to blend in with human society. Many took the offer, but all who decided to leave were killed.

This led the Chapples to realize that the only way to keep their charges truly safe was to make sure they stayed on the estate. They spent much of their wealth building silver laced fences and walls. Unfortunately, the five Lycans who remained were not pleased with this turn of events. They staged an escape attempt which resulted in Edna's and three Lycans' deaths. Only one escaped, leaving behind the last Lycan who had been wounded so terribly with silver that her leg never properly healed. She now walks with a limp and no longer puts up any kind of resistance.

While Byron was hurt by the loss of his wife, he comforted himself that she was with God and that their children would bring more life into the world to continue the work they'd begun. The initial escape fiasco simply resulted in tighter security and punishments for any who broke the rules. However, the Chapples felt they weren't unkind to their guests. They were not prisoners, and if they treated the family with respect, then they would be given more leniency and better treatment in return.

Another kindness they offer is a medicinal tea that enables them to keep their wits during the Full Moon. The low doses of wolfsbane in the beverage often prevent the change from coming at all, and another side effect is that the drinker may feel ill for a while but that's only for those who are extra sensitive to its negative effects. While the Chapples truly believe that in Adult and Ancient level Lycans, the ability to change into a wolf is a beautiful gift, they understand that in Adolescents and Youths it can be catastrophic and devastating. For safety and mental health reasons, they don't feel guilt about offering the tea. Because they allow each individual the choice of partaking or not, they feel God has blessed their decision.

As the family grows, the number of Lycans they house in the Chapple Sanctuary is allowed to grow. They understand that they cannot take in every stray Lycan, but they do their best to protect the ones they have taken under their wing.

Biography:
- Fourteen days into a particularly chilly January, a baby was born in Alaska. This wouldn't have been a very remarkable event had the child not been completely still and silent, as if asleep. The healers could not discover the source of the infant's unconsciousness, but because they could not get her to awaken, they informed the parents that the child would die.

Her parents were not ones to give up so easily. After all, this child was the first of theirs who had made it to term, and they simply could not accept that she, too, would meet an untimely fate. Tadlo and Emiri Nieves worked together to mix experimental potions to revive her. One night, they administered one of their concoctions, praying to their parents deities that their child would live. After a very tense moment, the baby opened her eyes and began to cry. In that moment, the parents knew their daughter would live. The child was named Estela.

Magic was not uncommon for the Nieves family for one was a witch and the other was a wizard, and it wasn't long before Stella began showing signs of having inherited their gifts. As an infant, she would sometimes summon things that were too far out of reach. More subtly, she was able to avoid simple accidents by stopping in just the right spot or by quickly moving away from a location where an accident would occur. This was more surprising than the other types of magic she showed, for it spoke of her having inherited more than simple wizardry, for Stella was the great-great-great granddaughter of a seer on her mother's side. The gift was quite rare, but it seemed to have been passed down four generations later.

At the age of six, Estela Nieves made her first prophecy, foretelling of her mother's demise. Both parents heard their daughter speak of Emiri's death though neither had any indication of how or when the event would come to pass. In an effort to thwart this dark fate, they moved to the country where Emiri had been raised: England.

When Stella was eleven years old, she recieved an acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her family was very excited, especially Emiri who had received her education there. They bought her school supplies including a beautiful wand, and a family friend allowed them to adopt gorgeous kneazle-cat mix which Stella named Oberon.

After much deliberation between House Hufflepuff and House Ravenclaw, the Sorting Hat placed the pre-teen into Hufflepuff. Though her mother had been a Ravenclaw, both parents were very proud of their gentle, loving daughter. She quickly became liked by many of her peers both in her own house and outside it. With her Ravenclaw-worthy intellect combined with her Hufflepuff kindness, she frequently helped bring many points to her house which helped with house morale.

Perhaps it was because of the prophecy, or perhaps it would have occured no matter where they lived, but Emiri Nieves perished while working at the Ministry of Magic in the Experimental Charms department one evening. Stella walked into the room to see her mother just as several objects in the room exploded, killing Emiri and injuring a few of the woman's co-workers and Stella herself. While the thirteen-ear-old was not harmed physically beyond a few scrapes and bruises, she was emotionally scarred by bearing witness to her mother's demise.

Tadlo, her father, had been working in the Department of International Magic Cooperation on a different floor at the time, and while he didn't blame his daughter, Stella could never forgive herself. She saw her prophecy as the cause of her mother's death. Had she not spoken of it, they would never have moved, and Emiri might still be alive.

Instead of trying dissolve her abilities as a seer by pretending they didn't exist, she sought to better understand them. Even though she'd only spoken one prophecy, she had other talents regarding her nature. She threw herself into divination studies, even when outside of school though she could do nothing wand-related during holiday breaks. She was determined to make sure she could have a proper control over and understanding of her inherited abilities.

Because of her drive to master her abilities, it's strange to think that Stella's first real friendship was with a girl who hardly even believed in the Hufflepuff's genetic inheritance. The third-year was completing a homework assignment when she felt a familiar pull. She simply knew she needed to go to the courtyard right at that moment. She left her things in the Hufflepuff common room and headed to her destination. The thirteen-year-old arrived just in time to witness the end of a verbal altercation between a Gryffindor girl and a Slytherin boy. When her female peer turned her back, their male peer aggressively drew his wand. Without a second thought, Stella drew hers and yelled, "Expelliarmus!" His wand was ejected from his hand before he could finish uttering his hex, and the Hufflepuff created her first true friendship at Hogwarts with the Gryffindor, Adelie.

Through Adelie, Stella was also able to make two other friendship during her third year: one with a Gryffindor girl name Rin and the other with a Ravenclaw boy named Calvin. Stella met Rin originally through their shared Divination class. She agreed to help the Gryffindor because it was clear to everyone else in the class that the Hufflepuff showed great potential with the work. In return, Rin agreed to help Stella with her Defense Against the Dark Arts Studies. Becoming friends with Adelie really helped promote friendship between the other two girls.

Stella met Calvin a little later than she'd met Rin when the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were paired to work on a Care of Magical Creatures project together. They'd already developed respect for one another through that when Adelie's influence simply pushed them the extra step into real friendship.

This wasn't the last time her connection with Adelie introduced Stella to a new friendship. During their fifth year, after the Slytherin, Zef, stood up for Adelie against a bully in his own house, the friendship he formed with the Gryffindor made it's way to the rest of the group. Though they're very different, Stella and Zef were able to find common ground in their personal ideals about honesty and integrity, and they've been friends ever since.

Personal Information:

Personality:
- Stella is a very open and friendly person. She adores social interaction, and seeks to understand people on a deeper level than they might initially present to the world. While she does understand that not everyone is going to like everyone else, it does hurt her when she learns that people have been saying bad things about her. She wants respect and, as such, she makes sure to work hard to earn good grades, and she also does her best to be friendly.

Unfortunately, there are situations that result in her having to become quite cross. She can't abide the way bullies hurt others, so she will stand up for those who may not be able to stand up for themselves. Sometimes, it's brought that bullying onto her own head, but she doesn't mind because the positive feeling of having helped someone always outweighs the negative feelings of being the butt of another's jokes. One thing her father taught her was that, sometimes, getting the last word really made the person who got it the loser of the fight. They might think they won, but if Stella could be confident that the negativity wasn't drawn out longer than necessary by keeping her silence, then she was the true victor. While she's very vocal about standing up for others, she's quick to walk away from a fight when it's directed at her. As such, some people think she's weak when, to her, it takes strength to walk away.

Stella's worst fear is that she'll predict more deaths of those she loves and fall into a despair so dark she can't find her way out. She isn't certain she would be able to handle losing another loved one, especially because there are so few left in her life since her mother's demise. She still blames herself for the woman's death even if she merely foretold it, but she works hard to pretend it doesn't bother her so that she doesn't falter.

While the catalyst for her greatest fear may be her natural insights, Stella isn't afraid of people knowing about her abilities though she never tells them the details about the one she spoke, and she never discusses her mother's death with anyone who doesn't already know. Some people believe that she's a hack in much the same way they feel Professor Trelawney is. They don't believe in the pull she has to be in specific places or away from them. They think she's lying to get attention. It hurts her when people say those things, but because she doesn't have any definitive proof, the only thing she can do is pretend it doesn't bother her.

Natural Ability:
- As a seer who has not mastered her gift - or curse depending on one's perspective - Stella doesn't always understand the feelings she gets. She only knows that she'll occasionally have the urge to be in a certain place at certain times. She doesn't know why until she happens upon that place and events unfold. A few times, she's gone to places where nothing happened at all, and she never really did learn why she felt the need to be there. She's also felt similar urges to leave specific places with comparable results to the ones that bring her to new areas. It feels a bit like a tugging sensation in her mind, the way one might imagine a recovering addict would feel when the opportunity to partake arises unexpectedly. She hopes to one day understand these urges before she happens upon places, but so far, she hasn't figured out how to master it.

Background
- When Jacinta Lawrence received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts, she wasn't exactly thrilled. Even though she was only eleven years old, she'd planned out an entire future based around science. Instead, it felt like she'd had her dreams torn away from her by magic. She almost didn't go, but the Headmaster himself came to her and showed her that science and magic weren't mutually exclusive and that while magic seemed to be set by different universal rules, there were still rules just the same.

She was accepted into House Gryffindor, and her favorite subject became Potions.

After she graduated from Hogwarts, she went to work for the Ministry of Magic where she met her future wife, Dido, who was married to a man at the time. Nearly fifteen years later, they got their chance at true love, and they dated for a short while before moving into the same house and getting married. JAcinta loves her step-children as if they were her own flesh and blood, and they love her, too.

When a teaching position opened up a decade ago for a Potions instructor, she jumped at the chance. She'd always wanted to pass along her knowledge to young minds, and this was her chance. She applied and got the position. She's never been happier.

Personal Information
Personality
- Professor Lawrence adores teaching, and most of all, she adores Potions. She's very passionate about her subject, but she's also very fun-loving and understanding. Instead of admonishing students for not getting the complicated subject right on the first try, she helps them improve with gentle encouragement and a series of tips and tricks she picked up over the years. As a result, she has the highest rate of students passing potions of any other Hogwarts professor in the last fifty years, but she doesn't boast about it. She simply believes that it's more important to help students than to diminish ones who aren't trying hard enough or to put those who are advanced on too high a pedestal. She believes that every student should be given equal opportunity to succeed, and she does her best by them.

One thing she absolutely will not tolerate is bullying in or outside of her classroom, and she's quick to remove house points from those she sees hurting others physically or emotionally. On the other hand, she's also quick to deliver house points to those who offer help and encouragement, especially when there's inter-house cooperation.

Clothing Style
- Professor Lawrence prefers comfort over fashion. She loves her robes to be long and flowing though the sleeves will be pushed up and away from her hands when working with potions, and she adores earth-tones. She always wears her large, round, thick-rimmed glasses from which hangs a gold chain in the event she needs to remove them to read something. She tends to only wear jewelry on special occasions, in which instance it isn't uncommon to see her sport gold bangle bracelets and beaded necklaces. If she wears make-up at all, it's very minimalist and natural looking.

Personality
Nieri Mahtar was once gentle and nurturing while simultaneously being a prankster who loved a good romp. Life was once extremely beautiful to her, and while it still holds a great deal of meaning, it has become infinitely darker. Her pranking days are over. She struggles with an obsession to find more Uialien survivors in the hopes that half of her culture can be restored. She also struggles with the intense desire to seek revenge on the Fatanen, especially the High Royals of Eriston. She is logically satisfied that the man who ordered the genocide of her people died in the process, but she also wishes he had lived so she could kill him herself. After the Nogyth were driven from the mountain ranges of Stegros, she decided the entire family was the disease that should be eliminated.

She has been counseled that the path of revenge leads to a darkness that will taint her very soul, and while she doesn't necessarily fear that darkness, she does fear never being able to find the light again. Instead, she does her best to aid the Edhil Resistance and help those who have been harmed by Fatanen rule. This helps to at least focus her mind away from desires for revenge while she's doing good work. In this way, she has become an excellent leader who would die for her followers as they would die for her. She does her best to make sure that whatever groups she leads are inclusive and fosters close knit relationships.

Even so, she has lost so much that it has been difficult for her to form close relationships in the last forty-eight years. Even those trusted few who advise her are kept at a moderate distance.

History
It could be said that the first couple of thousand years of Nieri's life were peaceful and flew by quicker than anyone would have liked. Even though she was of two different people and often felt a bit like an outsider, she made friends with relative ease, and her family was always accepting of her dual-lineage despite her somewhat strange appearance. It was also true that she'd received her father's Uialie libido, for she took many lovers over the years even if she none of them were the ones with whom she wanted to spend her life.

Nieri split her time between Aliudea and Inen, never spending more than a century in any one place. She often liked to travel to Eriston and Vonga and was occasionally permitted within the mines of the Stegros mountain ranges. While in Vonga, she met a wealthy Fatanen woman named Hui Ahn and the woman's greatest love, Vantze Syrus, a Calva man. The pair may have been different races, but they were in love. Having been the product of a mixed union, Nieri believed in their love and helped them join together as one.

It was when she had situated herself in Aliudea for a time that she encountered her first true tragedy. Unexpectedly and without provocation, Eriston sent an army to intimidate the Uialien. Neither Nieri nor her parents were members of the inner Court circles, so they didn't truly understand what the Fatanen wanted. Instead, they found it strange and simply dismissed it. The Uialien were an old and powerful race, and facing the Fatanen felt much like playing a children's game.

Underestimating the Fatanen was the Uialien downfall. When the war began, Nieri donned her armor and raised her bow to fight for her people. At first, it seemed they would win. Even with their superior numbers, they couldn't handle the magics the Uialien possessed until the High King stepped forward. She never saw him from her position, but there were whispers. Nieri's mother, Aeweth, and her father, Einrial, came for her. She tried to protest that she would fight, but they used force and magic to make her comply. They used a powerful spell to seal her within a Uialie-made cave. All Nieri recalls from that time is a chorus of agony accompanied by a blinding flash of light that knocked her unconscious. When she awoke, the cave's magic had been broken, and she was sore and sick feeling, but none remained in Aliudea but the corpses of Fatanen and Uialien alike.

Nieri traveled to Inen where she told the Council of Elders what she knew about what had occurred. Once she had healed physically, she went with a group of Edhil to collect artifacts left behind by the Uialien. It appeared a small area had been looted, but there were old magics in place to deter non-Uialien from entering their homesteads without permission. She understood those magics, and she was able to help collect a large number of things, including heirlooms passed through her family. Many things were left where they were. It would have been dire to the health of the forests within Aliudea to move them. Instead, she and her group simply strengthened the existing magics that were in place. While they were there, they found no signs of Uialien survivors, so they believed Nieri was all that was left of that race.

Twenty-nine years later, Nogyth came to Inen seeking shelter from Fatanen attacks. They had been driven from their mountains, and all of Stegros had been claimed by Eriston. It was then that the Edhil learned just what the Fatanen wanted - the Bracelet of Lim - and how they'd succeeded so successfully in the Uialien genocide - they already possessed the Bracelet of Duath. They put their best scholars to work searching for a way to stop the Fatanen from gaining the second bracelet, meanwhile continuing to take in refugees from Stegros and Vonga. Nieri joined groups intended to free many people from the rule of the Fatanen in Eriston, and it was in this way that they discovered more Uialien who had not been destroyed but enslaved.

In her attempt to save as many captives as possible, Nieri herself was captured. She spent ten months being tortured by Fatanen soldiers, and while she wished for death, she did not break. They received no information from her, and at the beginning of what would have been the eleventh month, the Resistance came for her. The motley group of Calva, Edhil, Nogyth, and one Fatanen saved her from the darkness and brought her back into the light. A few lost their lives in the effort, but they also managed to free more than just the Edhel-Uialie in the process. It took time, but as soon as she was healed and ready, she continued her efforts in helping free captives. As terrifying as it was, she felt it was important to help as many as possible and to find as many living Uialien as she could. Though they were too few to ever be their own race again, they could at least pass their genes and knowledge through the mixing of other races so as not to die out completely.

Personality:
(What kind of person is your character? What quirks do they have? What are their emotional strengths and weaknesses?)

History:
Zora Gavro was born from a long line of Nestad people. Her father focused primary on medical care while her mother focused on imbuement. Both taught her their secrets. Unfortunately, her mother's side of the family disowned her when she married a mixed-race man, so Zora never got the chance to meet them. Fortunately, her father's side embraced them with great love and joy. Her home life in the small Eriston village of Ostlyn at the southern Vonga border.

There was a fable Zora was told as she grew about two gods, Duath and Lim, who battled over the world to bring it into chaos or into order. It was a popular myth in Eriston, but her Edhel great-grandfather told her a different version of events, one in which Lim took the bracelet of Duath to a group of varying races that she had gathered together. They were dubbed the Varnegwaith, a society of people who were given two important tasks. The first was to take Lim's Bracelet to a strange race of beings where it would be separate from Duath's Bracelet but also protected. The second was to keep the Bracelet of Duath a secret at all costs, to keep it from the hands of those who had any notion of using its power.

The Varnegwaith protected their secret through generations and select indoctrinations. They maintained their cover through archiving the knowledge of the world to share with others. Because they were so forthcoming with all other knowledge, none suspected they kept a meaningful secret. Unfortunately, as time passed, the necessity for secrecy seemed less important to some. A few of the Varnegwaith gathered together to sell the information about the Bracelet of Duath to the highest bidder. Instead, a powerful, militant leader betrayed them and burned their library to the ground in search for the artifact. They found nothing, and those who were not killed in the struggle were scattered.

Zora loved the fable dearly, but it came as a shock when, at the age of thirteen, directly after the Nogyth massacre, her great-grandfather told her that she was descended from the Varnegwaith. Great-Grandfather Urion was descended from two Varnegwaith who made sure their story was whispered through the generations. It became even more pertinent, to Urion at least, once word of the Bracelet's recovery had been found. He urgently taught his great-granddaughter all he knew, hoping that she would use the knowledge to reclaim the Bracelet. After all, as a man of obvious Edhel heritage, he would never be able to get close to the High Royals to stop them, but as a young woman who could visually pass for Fatan without anyone second-guessing her lineage, she could get close to him.

Zora trained to become the Varnegwaith her great-grandfather believed she could be and then some, but the urgency of it never really hit home for her until her family received word that Fatanen soldiers were coming for them. They were abominations, mixing racial bloodlines, and they were to be dealt with immediately.
