Character sheet wise... Its pretty open world as long you dont make something too op. i mean we got some tough canaries who are on the line or crossing it. But their not overly powered to the point the rp is unplayable. As for the story...a lich has been nullified and a greater evil has risen.

I tend to never power play main characters, especially outside my own creations. I'm thinking about importing a character from my running RP for the sake of how well he would fit in.
