Greetings my fellow role-players! Please take a seat, this might turn into a lengthy text and I don't want to exhaust you right at the beginning. Also, take a biscuit. Everything is better with a biscuit.

What do I want, you might ask me. That's a dumb question, I might answer. This is an interest check, plain and simple. You see, I have been here for a couple of days, quietly stalking the threads and looking for that very special individual, who could become my role-playing buddy. You might call me a picky prick, but I don't want to spend hours on making up characters, plot and all that jazz just to find out that my partner's style and ideas aren't exactly compatible with my style and ideas. Some people just haven't been made to role-play together. To prevent these situations, I have decided to make my own IC, that will hopefully help me bait some partners.

So who exactly am I looking for? That's a tough question, buddy. I am looking for someone who can post a pair of meaty paragraphs with enough details and action to make them interesting. I am also looking for someone who is active, and by that I don't mean just someone who can speed-write responses on daily basis. You can take your time with your post. The real life can be a real pain in the ass and I can wait a few days for your response. I just want to feel that you are interested in the RP. When I get the sense that you are bored by it, it will immediately became a less fun for me too. If you start to loose interested, tell me and we will figure something out. Also, I like OOC chatting. A lot. I am quite a talkative person (some might even call me a "babbling idiot") and I enjoy making new friends. Talking OOC also have a very positive effect on the role-play. Trust me!

The last thing my partner should be able to do, is to drive the story forward. I have done enough of RPs where I had to almost literally carry the plot just by myself and my partner was just kinda there, barely reacting to actions of my characters. It's our story, not mine, so feel free to add your own sauce to it (no euphemism intended).

It seems that I am asking for an awfully lot of things, but trust me, I would never ask for it if I couldn't deliver the same.

Now that I talked a little about who am I looking for, its time to say what am I looking for. In terms of role-playing, I have some particular tastes. There is a lot of things I don't like and I just won't role-play. For example a slice of life role-plays. I don't like those a one bit. My life is a strange spiral of weird accidents and that's all the drama I need.
Another thing I am not exactly fond of doing is completely romance-based role-plays. I am not saying that I don't enjoy more romantic relationship between the characters, but it should be just a "side effect" caused by the development of the story and said characters.
And the last thing I don't exactly fancy are fandoms. There is a few universes I like and probably can role-play in (Warhammer, Witcher, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Star Wars), but that's all. I also don't like anime all that much (hail the exceptions) and my knowledge of this genre is lacking at best.

These things said, let's move to things I like. Good old, western fantasy and science fiction. I feel like these genres are only ones that provide enough freedom to make things truly interesting. From there we can go into all possible directions. We could do an adventure RP about heroes on their journey to save the world, or maybe a horror-like story about marines in the deserted space station. Our characters might be witch-hunters stalking heretics and mages, or we could be bounty hunters trying to get a paycheck of their lives. We could be pirates on flying ships, or cyberpunk-ish police hunting criminals in Judge Dredd style (currently craving this one!). Possibilities are endless, and that's how I like them.
Just feel free to send me your ideas and we will make something great out of it!

I hope I didn't exhaust you too much with this text and hope to see some interest. With love, your Jouska.

I'm new to Dragon Age (have been playing Origins the past month though, and have been doing light reading on the lore/other games) but find the story and its characters very compelling. The setting and plot is also beautifully simple that I find it to be icing on the cake. I know you won't deal with canons, which I know some people don't like touching, so I would propose using OCs, granted they don't copy too much of the canon roles. I see little point in steering away from canons people know, only to make carbon copies which may only differ by tiny details. I also don't like cliches very much (ex: macho warrior who is insensitive, downtrodden elf who is moody with trust issues, etc). I enjoyed layered characters and playing as many roles who come and go when it comes to helping stop the Blight.

I consider myself advanced and capable of anywhere from four to ten paragraphs (just take a look at my post history if you want to see my style) and I do enjoy romance, if it happens naturally. I'm not sure why some people turn their nose up at romance when feelings of adoration, longing, and even lust are part of every day life. You seem fine with it though, I just don't want my roles getting involved with yours if you're not totally happy with it. Also another concern is that Dragon Age is also part "slice of life" in my mind, with the travel, setting up camp and such. I like that stuff, I find it builds interactions and allows characters to not just react to another mission or side quest. Personally, I see the pace being slow with room for side quests, not just action and danger around ever turn.

If you're interested in talking more, I'm happy to do so though I am a bit backed up in PMs (I tend to forget I have some to reply to) so here might be a good way to talk before we figure out if an OOC is worth making...but if you need to PM to keep this clutter free, I understand too.
