This is a YYH RP in which we are redoing the series and recreating some developments while we focus more on the actual detective work Yusuke was meant to do. Romance will be possible if natural. We will be breaking major plots into Sagas the way the series has done. So far we have established a very light order of events:

Case 1 - Occult Stuff
Case 2 - Introduction of Kurama? Maybe Hiei?
Case 3 - Genkai/Rando
Future Cases: The Toguro Brothers, Sakyo, and Shinobu (to be decided later)

And in terms of roles, I have decided which we'll share and which we'll have full control over:

Me - Kurama, Keiko, Kuwabara, Botan, Genkai, Gin, Rinku, Koto.

You - Yusuke, Hiei, Koenma, Shizuru, Yu Kaito, Asato Kido, Pu.

Shared - Both Toguro Brothers, Rando, Bui, Sakyo, Sensui, Yukina, Juri etc.

I think we also talked about maybe aging them up a little so maybe they're about to graduate high school as opposed to about to enter high school. That would put our roles in the 17-18 range as far as Yusuke, Keiko, and Kuwabara go. That means I'd say Kurama would then be in the middle of university or almost done with it, as well as his classmates like Kaito.

We also talked about cult case relating to a group of kids who are into the dark occult and try to summon some demon. The kids or teens keep trying because they don't think it's working when it is. The negative spirit energy ends up messing with the portal and a demon ends up managing to squeeze through and starts trolling Tokyo, people start dying from odd "accidents" and such.

And we also need to figure out if Yusuke tells Kuwabara about what he's up to, or if he happens to find out on his own. I assume Kuwabara will either tail Yusuke to see what he's up to, or Yusuke could be up front about it, doubtful his friend would believe him anyway. I'm asking since I'd need to know if the first case is Yusuke and Botan, or Yusuke and Kuwabara or all three or if Keiko gets involved somehow? What do you think? I also assume we'd want to start after he trial is over and he's alive again, with maybe just a summary of what happened? I'm fine with starting at the very beginning though and skipping as needed.

I'm good with the character split. But I do remember talking about writing Keiko out. Are you still interested in doing so?

I personally think the first case should start off just Yusuke and Botan. As the case progresses I wouldn't mind Kuwabara finding out what's going on, or just even stumbling into it. Which would be interesting if (like the anime) the two really weren't friends, but rivals, and working together they become friends. I don't, at this moment, see Keiko becoming involved if we want to stick with the idea that they've grown apart since middle school.

With the time frame, do we want to do the start of the school year, middle, or getting close to the end? I personally think somewhere in the middle/winter months, would be the best place to start. It gives Yusuke some breaks that he had investigate during, instead of skipping school or just doing it on weekends.

I've thought about it and that I could go either way since I'll be able to develop her better. What do you think?

I'm fine with Yusuke and Botan handling the first case for the most part. And I do consider Kuwabara and Yusuke rivals but I also consider them friends, considering how much Yusuke helped Kuwabara with his test, when he was still dead. They still get to insult each other though I see it more as something between friends, as opposed to real rivals. Hiei and Yusuke, seem more like true rivals, at least power wise. But I'm fine with them starting off with some misunderstood animosity though I'd like to explain it a bit since the context prior to the series, to me felt unclear. I know Yusuke and Kuwabara were bullies of sorts, or thought as such but I never did understand why they were so against one another. Did you know? And I would say it's logical to assume Keiko and Yusuke did grow apart since the high school years would the ones where you branch out, meet new people, discover what you like and what you might want to do after high school.

Middle/winter sounds fine to me. I think most schools are "year round" in Japan so they have a lot of breaks but nothing as extended as America's summer vacation. Though I do think they would have maybe 1-2 weeks off for the new year and other holidays so that would give them some good time to either finish the case or subdue it. We could start with a few days before the break with Botan seeking Yusuke out at school so we're not having a case starting "right" when he's off of school, but leading into it?

I'm fine with leaving Keiko in. I've never had a problem with her. I just remember you mentioning that you didn't want her in. That was all.

I believe Yusuke and Kuwabara were in different "gangs" which made them "not friends". (Plus I don't think Yusuke liked the two guys that Kuwabara hung out with.) I think Yusuke had respect for Kuwabara from watching him fight while dead. He realized this guy was actually a good guy and someone he liked. So when Kuwabara needed help, Yusuke was okay to do it, and he was dead so no one knew it was him. And when he came back, Kuwabara didn't put up with his stonewalling because he knew who had helped him out and felt indebted. Or at least that was my take away.

I'm not familiar with Japanese school schedules. I know China is pretty similar to the US. From what I see of it in Anime, I'd think they'd at least had a sizable break in the summer. It might not be as long, but I do believe it is there. Anyways :) I agree that it should be before the break, so there is some lead in. That does make more sense.

And did we ever talk about how Yusuke came back? Because if Keiko isn't the love interest anymore, that might be an issue. Haha. After all

And I have studied Japanese (took 5 years) though they never touched too much on school systems but you can learn a lot from watching movies or anime, in terms of their classes and workload there. I would say summer may have a longer break but I know it's not nearly like the US in which they get like 2-3 months or something.

In terms of Yusuke coming back, that is the real pickle here. We could have his mother do it, if he's older and helping out more, their relationship can be rocky still, but maybe have more points of stability? We do need to give Yusuke someone on the outside, if it's not Keiko (unless they're reconnecting after years of not being close) then it has to be someone else. I doubt Kuwabara would even give the dream a second thought. We could also give Yusuke another way out...he's given the egg, that will hatch Puu later...ya know we could do a cop out way (since it doesn't really matter how he got back) and assume his badboy nature has resulted in some "fangirls" or someone into the danger (either to piss off her parents or something) and that could be who he uses to kiss him?

Do we just want to keep the status quo at the start of the series and leave it at that? Because I think that would probably be the most believable.

I like the idea of his mother being the one. Because in the show, she almost did it but was too drunk. I think with our scenario of her being more reliable, it would be more practical. He could have it that he tried both Kuwabara and Keiko (or current girlfriend) and they didn't pay any attention to it. That way we don't have to worry about making up another OC who will probably have to stick around and worry about him/her.

I do think the idea of his having a fangirl squad is hilarious. ^^ Even if they don't appear, they totally need to be referenced!

Having his mother do it would hopefully make sense given their ages now. Hopefully she drinks slightly less, since after he did die, she did so considerable remorse and I'd think any parent would try anything to get their kid back. That would work for me. So that leaves us with the starting point that: Kieko wasn't taking care of Yusuke's body and that it was his mother, it was also his mother who kissed him. Yusuke did still help Kuwabara pass some difficult high school exam and he still got the egg.

And I imagined the crazy fangirls akin to those of Yuki's from Fruits Basket, the crazy type who he doesn't notice that much, though his ego would sure love the attention haha!

So we have the death part all wrapped up. And how Yusuke and Kuwabara act together. We also know that Yusuke and Boton are going to try and take care of the first case on their own, though Kuwabara might show up. We have what the case is going to be (the kids summoning a demon, after multiple failed attempts).

Is there anything else we still need before we get this party on the road?

I don't think so~!

Maybe small details, school name, uniforms, maybe the year (I know it took place in the 90s which is fine with me).

Other than that, I can't think of anything which means we're ready to get things started, I assume with Botan showing up in my intro?

Either that or if you want me to start it with Koenma assigning said case?

Also, lets stick with the 90s (because who doesn't love the 90s?), stick with the uniforms from the show, and IDK on the school name. :D

So... *trails in after long absence* I've been working on RL stuff (no details) and I said I would be back this week. But... it's looking like this weekend will be the earliest. I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten and/or fallen off the face of the earth.

I will be away next week as I'm taking a trip over to Ireland with the family so I won't be able to check the Guild until a day or two after I get back so that might give you some more time, if you need it.
