"No. He's fully grown. I've seen kobolds before." Andrew turned to the kobold. "Hello there. I'm not going to hurt you. Unless you plan on hurting me."

The kobold was frightened and shivered, his eyes squeezed shut. Gradually, he turned his little snout in the director of the two mages, and he looked at them.

"O-okay. I meant no harm. My tribe moved into these ruins a few years ago."

Christa carefully moved closer. "Tiny one, are you scared? I will not harm you, so long as you do not harm my friend."

"I-I don't think I could harm him. No. My tribe moved in here a few years ago. After the great city stopped." The kobold explained.

"What do you mean by 'stopped'? It's not how you'd usually describe a city." Andrew replied.

"W-well, for years beyond counting, humans lived here, and one day, they didn't anymore. It just happened. One day the city was full of people, the next, it was in ruins" the kobold added.

"I think she's trying to calm you down" Andrew remarked.

The kobold relaxed a bit and after a moment, Andrew asked another question.

"Wait. You said that this city was here once. You saw the city before it was reduced to ruins?"

"Oh yes. It was very nice."

"But... how old are you?"

"21. That's young for a kobold, but we reach adulthood much sooner than humans."

"So, are you telling me that this city was destroyed just a few years ago?"

"Yes."

"So, how is it that everyone around here refers to these ruins as ancient?"

"They do? I didn't know that. Never talked to the humans around here" the kobold answered.

Saria frowned a bit. "Strange..." she whispered, then looked around. "Little one, will you show us around?" and smiled a friendly smile to him, hopeful he'd help.

"I can show you around the ruins, but not around my tribe's tunnels. Besides, I doubt either of you can fit in them" the kobold said.

She smiled a little and rubbed her cheek on him a moment, then let him go and stood. "Should we, my friend?"
