Long before our ancestors and our ancestors ancestors there was a great war. A war between the gods themselves over the fate of man. As the children fought their mother they created the Bunker, a bastion for humanity. A promised utopia in a shell of iron, only to open once the five deities had reawoken once each deity's promised family has returned. But the fifth never came. It has been centuries since the promised families of Odina, D'galda, Sheus, and Sivina were brought from the sky by their deities. Since then humanity has been clinging to the dunes, fighting for survival against the monstrous creatures that inhabit the land, the desert landscape itself, and each other. Clamoring after the old legends humanity tried for decades to penetrate the Bunker, a fourty story tall, twenty kilometer diameter cylinder of unknown, impregnable metal. Rumors say it contains everything from untold riches to paradise itself, but most sane people have since given up trying to get in. But recently, some traders coming through Hollister claim they saw a star fall in the eastern mountains. The rumor goes that the fifth promised family has finally come; that the Bunker could soon be opened. Not everyone believes these rumors, but there's always a few souls brave, or crazy enough to go after them. Are you one of them?
The Bunker takes place on the desert continent of Taraham in the year 483ST(Stipes Taraham), where the remnants of humanity struggle to cling to life against the raging sands and prowling mutants. Emmanuel Goode, a trader from Odina has sent out word for anyone interested in searching out the family Ra and opening the Bunker to meet him at the Chipshot Inn in Hollister, Odina. This is where the story will start. Ideally I'm looking for a group of 6 or 7 players in the main party of , but am open to other suggestions if someone wishes to play an opposing force, or competing group. For the general technology and monster level of the world, it's along the lines of games like Fallout or Wasteland. There is some near-future tier technology, though it's mostly patched together from what was left from the time before the War of the Five.
In the dawn of time there was not but man and the First Mother. From her infinite womb, she birthed four children to watch over and protect the humans who could not protect themselves from the monsters of the desert. Saira, goddess of travelers and the deserts of the world. Prayed to to ensure safe travels. Ulrich, god of wealth and prosperity. Favoured by merchants and traders to bring good fortune in dealings. Enid, goddess of nature and life. Prayed to by farmers to ensure healthy crops. Sanela, goddess of health and wellbeing. Patron of healers, and prayed to in times of sickness. Though the aide that they lent humanity was more than the First Mother had predicted and humanity was soon to be in a position to challenge her own power. Fearing this she turned against her children. She unleashed warriors of plague, famine, poverty, and death upon humanity. Her four children fought against the First Mother and her armies in the War of the Five. Led by a human hero, they delivered a powerful bomb into the heart of the First Mother. On her last breath, she forced her four children into an endless sleep. Leaving humanity once more to fend for themselves.
Patron Deity: Ulrich Genetic Type: North American Values personal wealth and status. Capitalist. Odina is a capitalist society and is ruled by a president democratically elected by the people, though the businesses really control the vote. There is also a healthy dose of libertarianism. It's hard to get ahead, but once you're ahead it's hard to fall behind.
Parton Deity: Saira Genetic Type: South America Values exploration and invention. Left Leaning. Sheus is a society where advancement is key. They are governed by a council of the heads of several departments. Agriculture, People, Technology, and Peace. Each of those heads are run like large corporations, the head being equivalent to a CEO. Nearly everyone works for them and they run things in a very Orwellian manner.
Patron Deity: Enid Genetic Type: East Asian and Indian Values nature and spiritual balance. Currently in a tentative anarchy, having just overthrown the emperor, Jan Wen. Shivina is the most balanced, being an anarchist state there is no governing body, people take care of themselves and one another so the more skills that someone can add to society the more they will get back from it. The closest thing to a government they have is a military force that is volunteer based and used to protect it's borders from other Houses and the creatures of the Dunes.
Patron Deity: Sanela Genetic Type: Eastern Europe and Russia Values the greater good and the betterment of humanity. Strongly Communist. D’gadla holds very strong communist views, but fall under the same kind of traps Russia fell under. There is a majority working class and then a Czar who appoints his own successor, he alongside a high council hold most of the power and wealth while keeping the working class majority in check by basically rationing them food and claiming it's because of poor harvests or some other reason.
Order of the New Hassassin Originally a Sivina splinter group they adhere to a bastardized Quran and the ideals of old hassassins. Partially nomadic, they have a headquarters in the mountains south of Sivina territory, though the exact location is unknown except to the higher ranking members of the Order. Lower ranking members are made to seek spiritual enlightenment through travel and meditation, often involving large amounts of peyote. They travel the land taking whatever work comes to them, usually that being hired killers and other dirty deeds that others wouldn’t touch.
Grand Trunk Nomads A collection of merchants and engineers that have banded together to restore the old rail systems to working order. They have scattered rail yards throughout the dunes, most of which are heavily fortified. The governments of the four major powers employ them to run large scale trade. They keep themselves unaligned, except for to the almighty dollar. Though they are not the greatest warriors their defensive capabilities are nearly unrivaled and though their trains are often the target for bandit raids they almost never miss a deadline.
Children of the Sky A cult centered around the Bunker that lies in the desert. They believe that in the dying days of the world the fifth great family, Ra. will fall from the sky and allow access to the promised Utopia that lies within the Bunker. They gather around the bunker itself, praying to the sun, who they believe to hold Ra, and performing rituals and sacrifices, sometimes human, to tempt the great Ra from the sky. They believe Ra to be the children of the First Mother.
Loose tribes of bandits are scattered across the dunes anywhere they can. For anyone within the borders of the four major powers they are nothing more than a vaguely lethal nuisance, though they pose a much larger threat to travelers and trade caravans. Their whole culture revolves around attacking caravans, attacking each other, and attacking anything else that crosses their path. Notable tribes: Hayazuka: One of the most well organized tribes, they operate with a butchered sense of honor, fighting stealthily and with dirty tactics. They have a solid control over the coastal area in the east, south of Sivina. Hellraizers: They occupy the areas north of Odina between Old Sludge River and Crater Lake. Anything they can’t eat, fight with or fuck they burn. Barrett’s Privateers: Seafaring raiders that occupy the waters between Centellas Point and Rotherhithe.
-This is a casual RP. I'm not expecting paragraph upon paragraph, but try to get at least a couple of lines in. -Keep your spelling and grammar reasonably up to snuff. -Things might get a bit bloody, but try to keep it moderate with the gore. -Romance is totally cool, but keep anything too raunchy out of it. Either "fade to black" or move it to PM. -Post characters in OOC until I approve them. -I am the GM. Any disputes come up, my word is law. Same goes for Co-GM. -Don't god mode, please. It ruins everyone else's fun. -I'm totally cool with you playing a little kid or an elder, but roleplay that shit. Don't have arthritic old man Jenkins doing backflips or little Suzy doing rocket science. -Any questions, ask. -Have fun and enjoy yourself.
