Young high school junior, Sparkle, is an aspiring songwriter, dreaming of fitting into the new school year as an accomplished singer. But the problem is, she has no inspiration for her new next song. After a humiliating encounter, Sparkle befriends bad-girl senior Raiza, who introduces her to the school's failing "Vocal Circuit" choir; home to a group of students thriving on their songs and good looks, they are also a group of misfits trying to deal with social issues, regarding their sexuality, relationships, and disabilities. Determined to help them, Sparkle will have to take on an inspiring journey, in order to help the group find their new look and sound, as well as her own.
