A break in The clouds unexpectedly dappled the ground with spots of sunlight that filtered through the trees for the briefest of instances, gleaming on a coat of reddish brown fur as a huge wolf rocketed through the undergrowth, heavy paws thudding rhythmically against the earth. His pointed ears were alert, straining to catch the barest of sounds incongruous with the everyday noises of the forest, nostrils flared as each breaths scents were analyzed. He was probably overdoing it, just a bit, but Jacob found that the more he concentrated on sweeping the territory borders for traces of unwelcome visitors, the less he focused on his anger.

Embry, One of his best friends, probably would have taken that moment to laugh at him, pointing out that anger most definitely wasn't a strong enough word for what Jacob was feeling. But Embry, or any other members of the pack that would have agreed with him, wasn't running wolf at that moment. For as a wolf, no thought or feeling went unshared among mines of the members of the Quileute tribe who had been cursed, or blessed depending on who you asked, to change into monstrous horse sized werewolves.

Huffing with annoyance as his thoughts were once again focused on his irritation, Jacob Black dug his toenails into The ground, skidding into an abrupt stop that sent bits of the undergrowth flying away from him. Muzzle wrinkling with a low growl, the huge russet wolf laid his ears flat against his skull, glaring into the trees. Why, Of all the things his father had told him, did his superstitious fears have to be the absolute truth? Why did the Cullen Family turn out to actually be vampires? Why did his family have to live up to the legends and transform into werewolves? After a long moment in which he snarled at the empty air, Jake up slowly relaxed his muzzle, giving his tail a few twitches before releasing a heavy sigh. He couldn't help what his family was, the heritage that they had been given. He knew that the rightful owners of the blame lay with the blood suckers...

Still feeling irritated, Jacob propelled himself into a run once more, heading in the direction of the border that they shared with the vampires, hoping to discover even a single bloodsucker that was near the line. Maybe he could tempt them into Crossing, give him a vent for his frustration... Digging his nails into the loam, The red brown wolf shot through the trees with purpose, gaining speed the further he went.

"I don't see her future anymore" The pixie-like vampire uttered to herself. Her facial expression suddenly free troubled, confused and anxious. All six pairs of topaz colored eyes, which belonged to each of the Cullens now rested on her. They all mirrored the same confused expression.

"Alice, what's wrong?" Jasper, the honey blonde asked in a comforting tone, almost instantly by her side.

"I don't see her future anymore" Alice repeated, her expression hadn't vanished and she looked even more troubled. "Yasmin's" She added, and all eyes were now focused on the girl who was standing by one of the large, glass windows - completely oblivious to what was going on.

There was silence, a long silence as the rest of the Cullen's tried to come up with some kind of conclusion. Then, the silence was broken by Carlise - the doctor of the family. "Maybe one of the wolves is involved... You know you can't see past them" He pointed in a low tone.

"They're going to find out sooner or later, and their not going to like the fact we're keeping a human here" Edward added.

"Well, it's not their decision" Rosalie snapped. Nothing else was said on the situation, and the silence begun again.

The girl standing by the glass - Yasmin was tracing her finger gently over the cool glass. It was raining - which wasn't ever a surprise in Forks. She actually liked the rain, and was used to it by now. Dark red hair, caressed her gentle looking face. She had big, brown eyes which were darting around curiously. Her nose was decorated with feckles, and she was a small, looking person.

There was something to having four legs that made being a giant dog somewhat more bearable, the amount of speed he could achieve being a large factor. Jacob relished the wind flattening the fur on his face as he ran, momentarily for getting the extent of his irritation for several minutes as he threaded his way through the forest. But The first hint of vampire smell in the air quickly had those feelings returning, his upper lip curling back as the sickly sweet scent made his nose ache. Slowing his progress to a trot as the intensity of the smell signaled his arrival at the border, Jacob's Black brown eyes began flickering around, large head swiveling as he scanned the surrounding forest.

No vampires here... He huffed with annoyance, keeping his distance from the border as he turned his steps to follow along the invisible line.

Hey Jake, what's going on? A new voice spoke into his mind, Embry's thoughts slightly confused at finding Jacob's trail leading away from where he had been patrolling earlier.

So much for having his thoughts to himself...

Nothing. Jacob reassured, unable to hold back a small sigh. Just thought I'd check the border on the Cullen side...

why?... Embry's barrage of questions died away as soon as he tasted the tenor of Jacob's thoughts, without Jacob having to explain anything. Oh... Still pretty bitter about it, huh? Want me to come run the border with you?

A prickle of annoyance sparked his thoughts, but Jacob quickly let it go. Of course he was still bitter. But it wasn't his friend's fault... sure, sure. I'll head up towards the road, you take the path towards the beach. He eventually consented wearily. With a snort, The big russet brown wolf picked up his pace again, not the breakneck gallop he had used to get here, but still a ground eating run that felt good enough. He could feel the excitement coming over from Embry's thoughts and made a concentrated effort to focus more on the positive emotion. It helped, a little.

Don't be such a downer! I bet I can make it to the shore before you get to the highway. Embry goaded cheerfully, automatically lengthening his strides.

That did it. Jacob couldn't help but release his own wolfish version of a laugh, a coughing bark that escaped him in a huff. In your dreams! You're on! And then he really kicked up the speed, flying like a bullet through the trees, Feeling the exact moment when his friend did the same, speeding away in opposite directions of one another, simply enjoying the freedom for a few more minutes.

Yasmin continued to stare out of the glass window, curious of what was out there. She was rarely aloud outside, for her 'safety'. She was especially not allowed past the treaty line, but she couldn't help being curious of what was actually behind that mysterious line.

The Cullen's only told her one thing about the treaty line, that she was not to cross it because they couldn't protect her. She had so many unanswered questions bubbling in her mind since then, but every time they were avoided and left unanswered.

(Sorry for the slightly short post).

(No worries hon!)

Sam joined them somewhere in the middle of the impromptu race, But didn't stop them, though Jacob could practically feel the mental eye rolling as he realized what the pair was up to. He had just come from with Emily, his soulmate, so that made Jacob doubly grateful he had the race to distract him from the Loving Way Sam's thoughts lingered on her face. He didn't particularly want to get caught cringing away from them. Racing along the border line, he concentrated very hard on the feeling of the bunch and pull of his muscles as he ran, the smell of vampire in the air, the heaving of air in and out of his lungs...
Looks like I win this one. Jacob thought somewhat smugly as he caught sight of the road through a break in the trees.

not again! Embry complained, slowing his run somewhat as he broke out onto the edge of a cliff.

Taking in a deep gulp of fresh air, Jacob threw back his head and released a loud long howl of victory, looping around a tree and heading back in the direction of his starting point. Embry heard and grumbled about Jacob having an unfair advantage with his longer legs.

All right, that's enough, both of you. Sam broke in, annoyed by the increasing complaints. either of you care to report on the actual border?

The thrill of winning the race faded away with the question and some of Jacob's sullen mood returned, his howl dying into silence. His pace slowed automatically, head swiveling as he ran his gaze over the trees. There's no trace of blood sucker on the half I checked. He finally said. unfortunately. He tacked on, ignoring the disapproval he could feel coming from Embry.

I didn't notice anything either. The other added after a moment.

Sam sighed, an underlying current of hate for the Cullens coloring his thoughts. Keep your eyes open and your nose alert on your way back, we wouldn't want them slipping through. Meet me to head over to the other side of town to check the borders there.

Jacob sighed himself. It looked like it was going to turn into a very long day...

Yasmin walked away from the window. The rest of the Cullen's were still discussing something in a hushed tone. She didn't question them, and walked straight past them and out the door. She sat down on the porch for a while, looking around at her surroundings. The Cullen's home was without a doubt, breathtaking. It was hidden away in the forest, so she rarely saw anyone passing by, maybe a couple of forest animals here and there.

Suddenly, she heard a howl echoing deep in the forest. She didn't know that there were wolves. At least the Cullen's never told her. She squinted deep into the forest, getting up from the porch immediately. She walked towards the forest but she didn't see anything, but she could hear the sound of paws against the damp ground.

She pondered on whether to go and check to see if there actually were wolves about. After much consideration, she started to walk deeper into the forest. The Cullen's home was get further and further away from her. She stopped by the treaty line, and was pretty sure she saw something run past. Something big... Like a dog? More than one. But they definitely couldn't have been dogs.
