Oxygen is a chemical element with symbol O and atomic number 8. It is a member of the chalcogen group on the periodic table and is a highly reactive nonmetal and oxidizing agent that readily forms compounds with most elements...such as Carbon and hydrogen

also plants are opposite of people so plants "breathe" in carbon dioxide and "exhale" oxygen

I know that :P but oxygen is just not really right in this situation. then its just really still called CO2 but its difficult to explain it right because English isn't my first language but thx that you know what i mean.

and i have asked my science teacher about it and he explains it that its really CO2 too so yeah i know that oxygen isn't wrong its just in with way you see the question in mind really XD

ah true

However it is still an oxide as in two oxygen molecules. Where the carbon has two double bonded oxygens attached to it and it should make a 'straight' line when the molecules are looked at.

So yes carbon Dioxide is called CO2, but it still contains two atoms of oxygen and one atom of carbon.

my problem is that I've taken a ton of science so i over analyze it a bit >.>

but the plant thing still applies, plants take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air hence why tree and plants are important.

@BlackPanther but did you know that when its getting dark that the plants take oxygen out of the air and release CO2 back in the air.

But still never the less its CO2 on either way. I have looked it up to be sure.
