The trick had worked perfectly, the trolls were so busy bickering with Bilbo that they didn't notice the sun rising until it was too late. Screaming loudly and cowering with their arms over their heads, the three trolls turned quickly to stone.

Relieved that they were no longer a dinner menu item, the dwarves all began to cheer loudly in unison.

Bilbo sighed with relief as Gandalf jumped from the rock and smiled. "Well, it seems our Master Baggins is more then meets the eyes..." Bilbo smiled then said "Um...would all mind helping me get down? I seem to be stuck in this trolls froze hand..." Gandalf laughed as he tied Thorin and a few of the others enough so they could get free.

Kili and Fili, who were by now back on their feet as they had been one of the first of the group to be freed, quickly climbed up and helped Bilbo down from where he was stuck while Gandalf and Thorin freed the other dwarves.

Bilbo sighed as his feet touched the ground and said "let's never do that again...is everyone alright?" Gandalf nodded and said "I believe so, Mr. Baggins. I suggest we see where this trolls were living...there maybe something useful there"

Nodding, Thorin began to look around the area with the other dwarves.
"Over here!" he heard Dwalin call the group over, and went to join the burly dwarf where he peered into a rather putrid looking hole, which had flies buzzing about in the entrance. That had to be the troll's horde.

Bilbo ran over with Gandalf behind him, looking inside. Bilbo looked around and started to look at things. "I fear those trolls may have eaten a lot of travelers. Look at all of this"

"No doubt they did, laddie." Balin confirmed as the dwarves began to rifle through the baskets and chests the trolls had collected.

Spotting what appeared to be two very fine blades sticking out of one of the barrels, Thorin went over and picked them up. "These swords were not made by any troll." the dwarf prince murmured as he passed the thinner blade to Gandalf and looked the other one over himself.

Gandalf nodded and said "These are Elfish made...I have seen the work before...but not these blades. They are find weapons indeed. You can't find or make them like this this days..." Bilbo was looking at some old books he had found, listening partly to Gandalf

At hearing that they were Elvish make, the dwarf prince made a move as if to return the blade to where he had found it. He had no wish to carry something which had been crafted by his enemies. But when Gandalf said that there was no finer blades to be found in Middle-earth, the dwarf had second thoughts and pulled the blade from its scabbard, swishing it through the air as he tested its feel in his hands. It was lighter than any of the dwarven blades he had ever used before, but it felt comfortable and balanced in his hand.

Bilbo walked over, stacking the books he found and said "What do we do with all of this? We can't bring it with us can we? A lot of these things belong to warriors who must have had families or something..." Gandalf was looking at the other blade, smiling to himself as he thought about Elves

"Well, they're not here to take it for themselves are they?" Gloin pointed out to the hobbit.
"Seems a shame just to leave it lying all around." Bofur murmured as he nudged a pile of coins with the toe of his boot. "Anyone good take it."
"Agreed," Gloin turned to the other dwarf and called out to Nori. "Nori, get a shovel."
The two dwarves both got shovels and began to dig a hole while Bofur found a chest and began piling coins into it, so that they could bury the chest to come back for it later.

"Let's get out of this place." Thorin scoffed, heading towards the entrance. "The air in here is stifling. Bofur, Gloin, Nori!" he called to the three dwarves who were delaying as they buried the chest.

Gandalf walked over to Bilbo, holding a shorter sword in his hand. "This is a perfect size for you, Bilbo..." He held it out to him and Bilbo said "I don't want to fight...I'm no warrior" Gandalf put it into his hands and said "you may not want to fight...but fighting may come to you. And it would be foolish not to be able to defend yourself" Bilbo looked at the blade then nodded, tying it to his waist

The group of dwarves paused as there was a sound of something approaching them through the undergrowth, though it was a strange sound....like a mixture of animal's pawsteps and something being dragged along through the bushes.

It was then that Radagast burst through and skidded to a stop in the middle of the Company on his rabbit slay, shouting out loud. "Thieves, fire, murder!!"

Gandalf walked over and grabbed the brown wizard, shaking his head. "My old friend, calm yourself. What is this about?" Bilbo walked over to the bothers, his head tilted. "Another wizard?"

"Guess so." Kili nodded his head as the twins watched the two wizards talk.

"I came to find you, Gandalf!" Radagast spoke frantically as he looked at the Grey wizard. "The Greenwood is sick! Nothing grows there anymore, at least nothing good! But if that was not the worst, it's the webs too! Spiders have infested the wood, Gandalf, Giant ones! Spawn of Ungoliant, or I'm not a wizard! I followed their trail, they came from Dol Guldur!"

Gandalf frowned and said "that can't be possible...unless..." He turned Thorin and said "that path is one we must take later on...we will need to move carefully. Thorin, do you still hold the key?" He wanted to make sure it had not been lost in the fight.

Thorin nodded and held up the key which he wore on a cord around his neck, to show Gandalf that it was indeed still in his possession. "Yes, it is here."

"But it is, Gandalf!" insisted Radagast. "And it is not abandoned any longer either! I saw him, Gandalf, coming out of the darkness. A Necromancer...a sorcerer who can summon the Dead." the Brown wizard shuddered as he recounted his tale of the encounter with the wraith, who he had barely defended himself against, and the bats that had quickly followed it and chased him and his rabbits from the ancient ruins that had once belonged to the Elves of Thranduil's realm.

Gandalf frowned, listening to the tale. He sighed and asked "What would you have me do...my old friend..." Then he looked at Thorin and asked "Can you go ahead without me ahead? I must go and see to this...story and see it for myself" Bilbo looked at Gandalf, then back at Thorin. "Where are we heading next anyway?"

"Onwards, towards Erebor-" Thorin began but was cut off as an eerie howl echoed in the distance.
