"Oin." Thorin called the dwarf's name, jerking his chin in Serena's direction. Looking somewhat worried, Oin scurried forward to examine Serena's wound.
"Is it re-opened?"
"It's all clear!" Dwalin called from the back of the cave. "Nothing here!"
"Then we rest here for the night, and leave in the morning." Thorin nodded.

Bane walked over as Serena shook her head and lifted her shirt saying "I think it just needs cleaning...a couple of stitches came out...but it isn't all the way open...I can fix it if you wouldn't mind giving me a hand in doing that..." Bane went to Thorin and said "we need to plan our route...well, in sure you have but make sure we aren't heading into anymore things like Giants"

"Unfortunately it is not that easy to predict danger on the road ahead." Thorin smirked as he glanced sideways at the man. "If it was we would have never run into the wargs in the first place. But Balin knows these mountains better than anyone else, he will be able to lead us safely." the dwarf prince promised. "Try not to let it worry you, and get some rest, Bane. Bofur, you can take the first watch." he called across to the other dwarf.

"Whatever you need, lass." Oin nodded. "Just tell me what you need me to do."

Bane sighed and smiled and said "Sorry...your right. I guess its the old Captain of the guard in me that makes me worry. I get edgy when am in groups...makes me extra protective. Please if I am asleep wake m for a set of watch...I want to make sure we pull our weight. Also if you could let me know when Lady Serena's watch is, I'll handle it for her. She needs to rest more then me"

Serena moved the bandages and said "Okay, looks like only two stitches came loose. I just need to tie them back up and put new wrappings on this and we should be alright for a while." She dug in her bag and pulled out thread and needle, holding the bandages and asking the dwarf to hold them and to bring some light over so she could see.

Thorin nodded his head slightly and promised to do as Bane had requested. There wasn't any harm in letting him do some of the work if he offered, and he knew that pushing the mage in her current state would do more harm than good too, and she may still have her uses, even if she had relations with elves.

Oin had Gloin make a light out of some kindling that they burned, and had him bring it over so they could see, with Oin pulling back the bandage. "Are you sure you can manage to stitch it yerself, lass?" he asked in concern. It was a rather awkward angle after all, though he didn't have much experience with stitching himself and he wasn't sure he would manage to do it, he meant well by asking what he did.

Serena smiled and said "Oh don't worry, I am used to this kind of healing. This isn't the first time I've had to stitch myself back together. I just an extra hand to hold things and the light..." She paused when she saw her wound in the light and cursed. "Guess I need to ask another thing of you..." Bilbo moved over and said "Can I help at all?" Serena looked over and said "Ah, master Baggins. Would you mind helping Oin find the sharpest blade in the group? I need to cut the dead skin off the wound and my blade is too long for the job...a small blade would be perfect if anyone has one"

Bane sat by Kili and Fili, rubbing his neck. "Your uncle is a hard one to read...I can't figure out if he was in a bad mood before or if he is starting to like us?"

"What about that little knife of yours?" Gloin suggested, looking across at Bilbo. "That'd be small enough wouldn't it?"

The twins exchanged glances and smirked at Bane.
"Could be that he likes you." Kili started.
"Or he could just be waiting to see if you can be more useful." Fili shrugged. "Sometimes it's even hard for us to tell. He's usually in a pretty bad mood permanently."

Bilbo frowned then pulled the blade out and held it to Serena. "Will this work?" Serena took the blade then paused, looking at it. "Hold on...I know this blade..."

Bane nodded and said "Ah, so his like Serena. Until they warm up to you, hard as a rock...figures" He leaned against the wall and said "Those two are a lot a like...its kinda strange"

Gloin and Oin looked between the blade and Serena in confusion.
"What d'you mean lass?" the grey haired dwarf asked, leaning closer as he adjusted his little horn in his ear, not sure if he had heard her right.

"I guess they are." Kili shrugged as they settled down to sleep for the night. He had noticed Serena seemed rather distant towards many of them.
"But I suppose both of them will soften up eventually." Fili pointed out. "Thorin will trust you eventually, you just have to prove to him that it's worth it in the end, or that he can rely on you."

Serena shook her head and said "its nothing...thank you Bilbo, this will work" She flinched as she started to cut away the dead skin around her wound, knowing it would get worse if she didn't

Bane smirked and said "I did it once...I could do it again...you guys are on a mission of some sorts and its important I'm guessing...I want to help where I can, just like I'm helping Serena" He pulled his shirt off and checked his scar, sighing. "I'll have to bleed it again soon..."

Gloin lifted the make shift torch a little higher so Serena could see better, while Oin just waited patiently until she had finished, holding onto the bandage still.

"Bleed it?" Kili frowned as he turned over to look at the man again in confusion. "That doesn't sound good."

She cursed as she finished, panting now. "There...all done...that really hurt..." She looked at Oin and said "Okay...now we wrap it...and I should be alright now..."

Bane smiled and said "Its just to get the infected blood out of my body. Trying to keep from letting any infected blood from getting into my heart. Its the only thing keeping me from changing into one of those things"

Oin nodded and wrapped it up as tightly as he could with the new bandages, stepping back when he had finished with a satisfied grunt.

The twins both shuddered at the thought.
"Alright, but could you at least do it when we're not looking?" Kili mumbled.

Serena smiled and said "Thank you...that saved a lot of trouble. Darn thing just won't heal right. Its what I get for letting one of those things nearly cut me in half"

Bane laughed and said "Relax you two, I can't do it on my own. Lady Serena helps me with that so none of the blood gets anywhere. We don't know that that blood could do to other people so we rather not risk it"

"My pleasure to be of assistance." Oin insisted politely. Like many of the other dwaarves, he was already rather fond of the newcomers.

"Sounds awfully complicated." the younger of the two twins mumbled, flinching as Thorin's voice snapped impatiently at them to stop talking and go to sleep.

Soon enough most of the others had fallen asleep, leaving Bofur awake on watch near the cave entrance.

Thorin had struggled to drift off as well, and lay with his back to everyone, eyes open as he just lay silently and listened to the other dwarves snoring. He frowned a little as he thought he heard footsteps, and Bofur's voice ask.
"Where do you think you're going?"

"You can't leave!" Bofur protested. "You're part of the company!" even though he didn't know much about fighting, all the dwarves liked the hobbit, some of it was probably to do with his cooking, but they'd also grown fond of how caring he had been towards them and how he tried to help even if he wasn't always completely sure he could.
