I was thinking of letting the story happen roughly 50 years after the events of The legend of korra and with a focus on The United Republic/Republic city. I think republic city will prove the best background for a story that revolves around inequality, social unrest and stuff like that due to the fact that it is a young, multicutural nation. It does not have the racial ties and tradition of the 4 nations. Plus the diversity of it's people can be cause tension.

With technological advancements fueling the nations industry an new economic and political elite can rise that enriches themselfs at the expense of the others. As tensions due to economic inequality rises the government heavily regulate bending because it has been used during riots against police officers. Slowly the government has monopolized bending and the training of new benders in order to prevent the people from revolting. Ofcourse in such situation an underground countermovement will be formed and that can be where the players come in :)

I was going to point out when the thread started had been inactive for a week, but I guess you beat me to that point. Anyway, If someone is willing to get a game like this going I'm in, I'm already managing one game and would prefer not to be the head of another.

Well, I am about to launch ichecks for two very ambitious games, but I'd be willing to gm, (preferably with a co-gm) as I doubt this will be a very challenging game to manage.
Should we hammer out a more solid plot or we could just play it by ear see what happens.

Also it seems like we are disregarding the second season of Korra and I am fine with that.

Unless we have a good way of incorperating spirits in the plot we should distegard the second season. I dont think i can gm it on my own in the close future. But we need to flesh out the plot more first :)

200 years after “Legend of Korra”
The amount of benders in the world has decreased rapidly since Korra was pointed out as the avatar. now only a handfull of benders exist in each school. The avatar was concerned, and traveled through time and space to seek out the wisdom of earlier lives. The current avatar, Kyoru of the flame, said this to the world:
“A thousand generations ago, I was a god. There were no other benders alive and my abilities appeared even more supernatural than they do today. I ruled with love, and had many children with many wives. In the Shien empire, situated where the earth kingdom met the fire nation hundreds of years ago, a girl was born and raised to be a high priestess of the sun. she was considered pure and holy, for it was not in her to bend an element. So rare was it for people then, that they saw her as divine.
Benders have come and gone through the ages, sometimes more, sometimes less. If we go back far enough there was even a time when I, the avatar, did not exist. Do not be concerned about this, the benders will return, the cycle is still turning.”

But all was not as well as the avatar tried to make it sound. In the Republic city, the equalists saw their struggle as over, and they had won. Laws were being passed that limited a benders legal use of their ability. Next, they needed a certificate to practice bending in public at all. A database was formed, listing everyone with bending powers. It was not long until bending fell into the great swamp of show business. Art exhibitions and martial art. The old forms once again arose from the ashes of time. Apart from the avatar, benders were no longer considered masters of their trade, but entertainers and artists.
