@Attis Just thought I'd finally give you some bands. Since I said I would. :P I have a weak spot for a good vocalists in general. But I throw ya some female vocals with metal bands, see if you enjoy them.
youtube.com/watch?v=VK9qfVQ4Z04 (If you like evanescence, Id be surprised if you haven't heard of this one. But I've been surprised before.)
youtube.com/watch?v=_1lXdLus2WI
youtube.com/watch?v=SxOybZcRXhI (skip to 1:05 for music. :P)
youtube.com/watch?v=UOvZKJlrtk8
youtube.com/watch?v=KUc9tHagrQw
youtube.com/watch?v=R_WuXOP8oDg (since you like oceans of slumber, forgive the potato 240p quality. :P)

Enjoy. xP

youtube.com/watch?v=UrspxLUuZPg <- Oh, and here's a band I'd call hilariously bad, though if you can stomach extreme angst/stupid lyrics. You may even like them unironically. x3 (though if you manage to get though this song, and like it, I can show you the worst they have to offer, I promise you, it's quite bad.) :P

I've actually grown tired of almost everything I listened to since my pre-teens to just a couple of years ago. Papa Roach, Takida, Three Days Grace, Slipknot, Linkin Park, System of a Down and so much more. Just started progressively going through their tracks and realising that I'd been listening to most of them for years and they'd become so bland to me. All except for Stone Sour. Their latest three(?) albums still have some of my favourite songs on them.

That being said, I used to hate any music that had no lyrics. But now I've started to listen to a bunch of music without vocals, such as Dunderpatrullen, Lindsey Stirling and stuff from OCRemix (but that's because OCRemix is full of amazing VG remixes). It's somehow much more soothing.

I also listen to lots of Miracle of Sound because he does fan-made tracks for video games, movies and TV-shows (also some original content, so to speak) - I put so much more weight into those songs because I've consumed the media.

@Crayt Well considering what music most of those bands make NOW. You can tell the difference between radio rock back then vs now for certain. XD

I still sort of have a bias toward preferring lyrics in songs/music, though I have listened to more instrumental tracks than I used to. :P

There are tons of bands I used to like but don't really anymore because of the people I associate with them. The Vaccines, for instance. Their music is still OK, but not earth-shatteringly wonderful as it used to seem. There was this one especially smarmy bastard (whose name I won't mention for obvious reasons) who liked them too, and to escape from that person's taint I stopped liking the Vaccines.

My music tastes in general have shifted. I don't really dismiss genres based on prejudice as much- I like at least *something* from pretty much all genres these days, and am much more selective in what I *do* like.

I like Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Heidevolk, Nightwish, The Agonist, Solar Fields, Metric, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, Dual Core, Menteroja, Mega Drive, Rage Against The Machine, Kraftwerk, and Faun. There are others, but the list would be too long to mention them all.

@SleepingSilence :0 thank you! I really liked ELUVEITIE and Straight Line Stitch. I've been kind of roaming around the metal side of youtube and I've liked some songs by... Crucified Barbara, Arch Enemy, The Pretty Reckless and I'm not sure if they're metal but Halestorm too.

And oh my god??? Have you ever just like, laughed so loudly it almost sounds like a scream because that's what Hollywood Undead is making me do honestly. It's like Johnny 3 Tears came in and did whatever that was and I just fucking lost it. LIKE I can usually get past dark lyrics or like, I don't know appreciate them in a lovingly sarcastic way... but that was just like woah there pal we're talking about the price of sin it's getting real biblical up in here stop the presses

Johnny 3 Tears made me cry real tears so thank you for that experience honestly.
