As he did, thoughts of their escape tomorrow crossed his mind. He tried to dismiss them, but he couldn't - they just imbued him with hope that was addictive.

Valerian would return having completed his supposed matters. He'd interrupt Aya and Eleanor's conversation with a simple, "Yo."
Of course, he knew about Aya's situation with Ferid apparently more than Ellie did, and he surmised it would be better to keep it that way.

"Did you guys here about the vampire that was murdered? Rumours say it was mutiny."

Valerian would subsequently return and notice the orange. "Good thinking, Ellie. Now, idiot Aya, take the orange off, wash the finger and put this plaster over it. Make sure you do it securely or else the vampires will go after you." He handed her a plaster.

Aya went red and she took the orange off, then washed the cut thoroughly, mumbling to herself. She was a little bit of a ditz and had a short attention span. Because of this she was prone to getting hurt. But she meant well. She put the plaster on and she muttered, "Idiot Aya? More like idiot Valerian, going into nature when you know full well there could be vampires out there..."

Aya called for the other orphans to come get their treats. The kids seemed excited about this. They ate their watermelons happily. Aya smiled at Valerian. "There's plenty if you get hungry."
