Couldn't you have waited to ditch the bow until you get into town and find a new weapon there? That would play out better than ginding a randome perfectly preserved sword in a farm house.

Who doesn't use a sword in a zombie apocalypse? It may not be rusted but it would be pretty banged up and dull, that is, if it was even there. Who leaves a perfectly good sword behind?
