"Who knows," Luke mumbled, lowering his head, "She never really explained it. Never explained anything to me. I think it had to do with all the death and suffering down here. We fight as an invisible force of right, but we've killed, and been killed. I've lost so many men and women, killed so many people myself, it's... I guess it's not suited for a lady of her standard, or whatever. Maybe that's why she left me, after seeing all the blood on my hands... Ha... Ahh..." Luke stopped talking for a second, choking back tears with a loud inhaling gesture. "But it's fine. I'm not sure where she's at now, but she's definitely not in Orobo anymore. Haven't seen her in ages, not since that old ass hole stole her away from me," Luke barked. "Stupid fucking... Him and him dumb ass bird.. If he didn't come along with his cocky attitude- Bah! He didn't even stick around! Fucking disappeared! Some bullshit about being linked with his people or SOME SHIT!" Luke stood up and turned around, smashing the picnic table with his right arm. "Damn it.."

Jenso stood up as well as Luke smashed the table and his eyes widened. "You...you're not talking about Lark, are you?" Jenso muttered. He was trying to remain calm but he felt rage burn within him. He clenched his fists and grit his teeth.

"Lark?" Luke muttered, "Lark.. That's it, that was the bastard's name.. Son of a gun, but he didn't even know about you either. Feh, Elise was always like that, keeping secrets and expectin' everyone to spill the beans. Fuck."

Jenso glared at Luke. He was quite shocked about the fact that Lark was apparently hanging out with his mother in the past, but he was more mad at Luke right now. "Lark and his, apparently, DUMB ASS bird, saved my LIFE!" Jenso shouted at Luke angrily, smashing the table before him into pieces with his fist. "Take back what you said about him! Right NOW!" He barked.

Luke turned to Jenso in shock, but didn't say a word. He looked at his men and women, who backed away from the encounter and looked up them, horrified. He turned to Jenso and creased his brow. "I'm not takin' back anythin," Luke growled, turning away from Jenso and stomping towards the eye of paradise.

Jenso walked over to the bar, and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a small bag and poured several gold coins onto the bar. "I'm sorry for the mess. This is for the repairs and the beers." Jenso stated in the most calm way that he could right now, and walked away. He passed by Bruce as he did. "We're leaving. Please show me the location of the next amulet, I don't want to waste any more time." Jenso said to his friend. He was still very angry, but he tried to remain calm and not let any of it out on Bruce. He did nothing wrong, after all.

Bruce watched the once jovial banter devolve into a fierce argument, internally torn about whether or not to step in. Ultimately he elected not to, though he was also among a very select few who didn't shrink away from the pair when things got heated and Luke attacked the table. Both he and Jenso had clearly set one another off, and both were too furious in the moment to consider the extent of feelings present in the other. Bruce didn't speak and kept himself from staring, instead trying to savor his drink. He glanced to the side when Jenso let his coins scatter across the bar counter top.
"We're leaving."
Bruce didn't answer right away. Instead he kept sipping on his drink. He didn't much feel like rushing through what remained.
"I'll show you the way in a moment," he said, keeping his voice even. "Nothing good comes of forcing things for the sake of impatience."

Jenso turned to Bruce and glared at him. His glare quickly vanished however, and he looked at the ground. "You're...you're right. But I don't want anything to do with Luke anymore. Coming here was a mistake." Jenso stated to Bruce. He needed either Bruce or Luke's help to find the other amulets, and neither would be willing to tell him where they were for now. On top of that, he didn't even know how to leave Diver's Paradise on his own. He sighed deeply. "I don't know what to do, Bruce..."

Bruce took another swig of his drink.
"If you don't know what to do," he said, still not making eye contact. "Then spend some time not knowing."
Bruce decided to finish off his drink and then rose to his feet.
"I spent several months of not knowing." he said. "Being uncertain for a while will push you to make a definite decision when the time comes."
Bruce picked up his sheath and strapped it to his waist. He turned to walk out of the paradise to the tunnel leading to the next temple, pausing only to glance over his shoulder.
"All I'll say is that you have to consider the other person's perspective if you want to know anything worthwhile."
With that, he walked out of the dining area toward the path for the next temple.

"I see..." Jenso simply responded, and followed after Bruce towards the next temple. He and Luke both needed to calm down if they wanted to reason with eachother, so he decided to wait before confronting Luke for now.

~ Chapter 93 ~

Entity..?

Bruce and Jenso foudn themselves outside, in the middle of a rocky area, but there was no temple in sight. Instead, there was a large plain area, surrounded by steep walls, with what looked like ruins at the center of the small clearing.

Jenso headed towards the ruins, walking beside Bruce. He hadn't said anything to Bruce at all as they moved. "I was never mad at you, just at Luke. I hope you'll still consider joining Jeff's guild...it'd be an honour to have you." Jenso suddenly stated. It seemed that he had sobered up by now, which was certainly nessecary now in order to remain focused. "He insulted one of my best friends, who gave his life in order to save mine...and he also helped me at the beginning of my journey." He explained to Bruce.

Bruce listened while they walked, narrowing his eyes at the ruins. Despite his attention being split, he was genuinely interested in Jenso's history.
"I never had any misconception about your anger," he said. "I'm still considering the guild. But I assure you, my decision will be entirely separate from any outburst you may have."
He paused at the explanation Jenso gave for his furious exchange with Luke from earlier. He understood better now why things had devolved the way they did. Still, they needn't have. Bruce feigned a cough to hide a quick smirk at the thought that both father and son were incredibly stubborn.
"I can see why you couldn't tolerate having your friend insulted," he said. "But for whatever mistakes Luke may have made, he clearly loved your mother. I doubt his words against your friend originated from anything more than simple jealousy."

A figure became clearer among the rubble as Bruce and Jenso neared. It was human-like, clear like glass, with several orange cores scattered throughout its body. At its feet, there were the ashen remains of a construct, and the figure seemed to be prying something out of its side with its bare hands.

Jenso listened to Bruce's words. "I don't know...I don't want to be in a fight with Luke, but to resolve this I need to know if it's just about jealousy or if there was more to it." Jenso responded. As they reached the ruins, he noticed the human-like figure. 'Gol-Ira?!...No, this one is different..' Jenso thought, realising that the humanoid golem's cores were glowing orange rather than blue, and looked different. He noticed the ashen remains of the construct as well. Was that...the golem that protected the amulet from this area? And were these ruins in fact once a temple? 'Does that mean that it's searching for the amulet?' He thought. "Hey Bruce...should we try talking to that golem? Or try to surprise attack it?" he asked while whispering.

Bruce considered the situation. Prior experience told him that this creature, whatever it was, would attack them. On the other hand, it hadn't made any aggressive movements toward either of them yet.
"Before we decide on either of those," he said, stepping in front of Jenso, holding up a hand to signal that he should wait back a moment. "Let's investigate something."
Bruce eased in closer to the creature, though not stepping over the threshold that would alert it to his physical presence. The previous beasts in the other temples had only attacked after Jenso grabbed the amulets. They had clearly been around before then, but for one reason or another, ignored their presence. Curious, he released a fraction of his ki to see if this creature reacted in any way. If it attacked, he could still respond. Otherwise, they'd have to make a decision on what to do.

The creature's head twisted up quickly, and it stood upright, putting the core it had plucked into its body. From the looks of it, this golem had at least 20 orange cores, and 4 purple cores positioned in its legs, chest, and head. It slowly began to walk towards Bruce, cautiously.

"You reek of golem kind," It said, in a voice nearly identical to Gol-Ira's, semi robotic, but brimming with life. "You reek of death."

Bruce hid his surprise behind an impassive expression, waving his hand at his side to signal to Jenso that, so far, there was no cause for alarm. He weighed his choice of words carefully, and maintained his ki output at a very mild level to avoid provoking any violent reaction from the creature.
"I do know of the golems," he said, speaking evenly. "And I have been witness to many deaths. Perhaps more than is my due."

"Golems are v-v-vile," The strange golem sputtered, "Collect... Souls.."
