Type Of RP: An action-adventure RP centered around Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., taking place in the same universe as X-Men: Darkness Rising. Players will roleplay as agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., attempting to protect the world from threats that can defy understanding. Plots are at least partially character driven and will hit on several major storylines from the comics/TV program.
Goal of the Current Arc: Prevent Ultron from destroying the world as we know it and save our friends stranded in the Quantum Realm.

In an unpredictable and chaotic world, we seek to control that which we do not understand; to grant ourselves immortality through preserving the past; to find ourselves. These individuals have chosen to be humanity's first line of defense against whoever may wish to do us harm, sacrificing their lives so that way we can live to see another sunrise.

They have chosen to be a shield.

It has been two months since the team, under the leadership of Clint Barton and Tinley Abercrombie, took down the HYDRA held bank, Creed Financial. The loss of that capital has crippled HYDRA, forcing the fascist organization to seek out new allies. Latest intelligence indicates that HYDRA leadership has relocated to Germany and are planning an imminent strike against S.H.I.E.L.D. with a yet to be revealed new ally.

However, HYDRA is the least of the team's problems now. Two of their own, Agents Theresa Sparks and Raynor Blake, have been trapped in the Quantum Realm all of this time. There has been no sign of them still being alive, but Sci-Tech graduate Agent Dominika Novikova still holds out hope that they can be rescued. Inspired by a vision she had seen during the fight against Luminous at Creed Financial, she has been visiting renowned scientist Dr. Hank Pym, hoping that the long neglected Ultron project may be the key to bringing Sparky and Raynor home.

If only she knew the price...

The Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division was founded in January of 1949 by Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and Chester Philips. It absorbed the Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) - the Allies' deep science agency that was responsible for the creation of the serum that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America. Following the conclusion of the war and the defeat of HYDRA, S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to monitor the world for catastrophic threats, as individuals with abilities and superior technology became more and more commonplace. The age of heroes had just begun - but so came the rise of villains.

In short, S.H.I.E.L.D. often deals with alien technology, superpowered individuals, and events that boggle the senses. Despite the agency's success in protecting the world since its founding, its failure to prevent the alien invasion of New York in 2012 and then the Altsoba Massacre (see the RP Abandoned Hope) prompted a defunding of the agency. Its budget was limited significantly and then given to O.M.E.N., a rival US intelligence and military agency. Fortunately, after O.M.E.N. attempted to kill the X-Men while the Mutant Registration Act was being debated in Congress, the rival organization was shut down and S.H.I.E.L.D. saw its funding restored.

Recruitment for S.H.I.E.L.D. can be fierce. Recruits usually have a college degree, but it is not required with the exception of Science and Technology, where candidates need at least one PhD to enter the building. Very few agents are trained 'on the job' but there are some scenarios in which this is the case. Additionally, individuals can be recruited for various initiatives without progressing through the academy, such as the Avengers Initiative. Its current director is Nick Fury and its primary headquarters, the Triskelion, is located in Washington D.C.

For this roleplay, all agents will have gone through one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s three academies. Each academy specializes in training recruits to become a certain type of agent. They all also have different entrance requirements. Students are not allowed to transfer between academies and retain their "placement" in graduation order - (i.e. if a second year at Communications transfers to Operations, they start over as a first year). It takes four years to graduate.

All cadets, regardless of their program, are required to take History of S.H.I.E.L.D. during their first year.

  • Things like jobs and skills must fit with characters back story
  • Don't go overboard - seriously, enjoy not knowing things and learning as you go.
• Language - no use of the n word or other racial slurs. Otherwise, no filters.
• Gore - No Filters - This might get gross
• No nudity - if a situation with this comes up, it has to be faded to black and be run by the GM first for approval.
• Taboo subjects will be crossed but will be maintained to fade to black if needed
• Romance is allowed but this is NOT a Romance RP - Pg-13, then fade to black

• Communication is Key
• The world is controlled by the GM - All NPC's, weather, what you see, what you find, what happens, everything. So if it isn't in my post, it didn't happens
• If you wish your character to have "connections" please run it by the GM first to ensure it is acceptable and isn't already being done by another.
• Randomization and LLA are used in this RP - Please refer to Lady Amalthea's tutorial for a description if you are new to this concept
• Posting Habits
  
  
  • Each post must be backed up to the back up forum or your counter will still be runner. GM will provide link to the back up forum.
  • Minimal of 2 well developed paragraphs per post
  • Must IC post once every 7 days (It is your job to keep up with when you need to post. Your last post hits Day 8 and I remove you from the RP.)
  • I do not accept no inspiration as a reason not to post
  • You may NOT copy and paste something from someone else's post and add it to your own. This includes dialogue.
  • You may NOT edit a post without getting permission from the GM.
  • If you are in a case and you take more than 24 hours to respond without notice three times, you will be removed from the RP.
  • Keep up with all IC and OOC posts
  • No word in IC or OOC after 7 days is grounds for removal from the RP.
  • If you need additional time to post you must notify the Gm by day 6 of your counter. Extensions will not be granted after that.
  • No spamming OOC
  • Under Extras in the CS mention your favorite Marvel storyline so I know you at least skimmed this...
  • Minimal 2 posts between your last
  • The GM reserves the right to make decisions as to how much additional time, if any, will be granted to post if the forum is glitching. A week to post is plenty of time even if the forum glitches a day or two. But usually, I do tend to be pretty generous about it...
  • Collabs may not be started after your day 5 counter
  • If you are collabing and your partner vanishes or does not reply, you must finish the collab and post it before the timer runs out
  • If your collab partner vanishes you are granted temporary minimal bunnying privileges to complete the collab
  • If your collab partner vanishes, you need to make the Gm aware so it does not count against you
  • Know your personal posting limitations before applying to join
  • If you cannot post, you must contact the GM and make me aware, you will be granted extra time to post (do not take advantage of this) - I realize real life comes first but you know your schedule better than anyone, if you join it is your responsibility to keep up and not hold up the rest of the Rpers. I will work with you, just let me know what's going on
• Spots are not first come first serve
  • Gm will review completed CS first
  • Gm will review previous Rp's and posting habits
  • Gm will then notify you if you are approved
  • Character deaths will happen, no one is safe - it will be randomized and you will be notified when your death approaches. (This does not mean you are out of the RP, it will mean however you need to make a new character should you wish to continue - I recommend having Back Up Characters Ready)
