Connor threw the thick tomb onto the back seat, where it gave a heavy thunk, as he got in the car. The car started easily, and Connor began to navigate to Marl's, taking ways which migrht seem confusing but were really more about avpoiding traffic, making te journey shorter.

Finding a park was the hardest part, and Connor found tnat it was nard to get out tne car again, afraid of what Marl might say.

Elizabeth looked at him, sensing his fear and nervousness. "Come on." she said quietly, getting out and closing the door. "We wont get anywhere good if we don't try."

She was nervous a bit as well, but also kind of excited for him to see her as a human. Though there surely would be a greater meaning in her also being cured from vampirism. Then there was also the fact of the sin being out, and she wondered what else might be out if they were.

Connor nodded, and drew in a breath. He could do this, not simply because he had to.... but because Elizabeth was there. It didn't matter that he was coveted... for what was simply in his blood, it didn't matter that this was necessary... he would do it, because it would best benefit Elizabeth.

"You're right, lets go"

He said, going over and approaching the door, he knocked. When there wasn't an answer he knocked again, but something seemed strange, and Connor reached for the handle, turning it, finding the door locked... but something was wrong.

"I don't like this"

Excitement went down the drain pretty quickly. With no answer and Connor sensing something off, Elizabeth took a close look around, looking to see if there was anything to say if Marl was absent from his home. The other possibilities were worse, and she tensed for what it could mean. "...want me to listen for signs of life? Or find an alternate way in?" she asked quietly, at a hushed level. She may have been asking, but her senses naturally sharpened as there was a chance of them being in danger...a set up maybe? Ambush?

Connor didnt say he sensed anything, but maybe it could be delayed or even worse..the vampires could have gotten humans to do their dirty work.

Connor listened at the door, glancing to Elizabeth. "if there was a fight, there'd be some sign of it" he said softly, "Marl isn't exactly subtle with that" He said, and glancing about, he reached for a key to the door, the only thing about Marl that Connor could tease him about, from under a pot plant. Such an obvious place. He unlocked the door, wincing at the sound of a click, listening for any sign of someone coming to investigate.

No one did.

"Can you hear anything?" He whispered to Elizabeth, gently opening the door

She nodded a bit in thought as Connor explained about there being no signs of life. SHe couldn't help but smile a little inwardly. Indeed, Marl did come off as a tenacious guy. But foolish, it seems, as Elizabeth stared at the flowerpot his key was under.

Really, Marl? All those hunter skills, and you put the key to your house in the most obvious place?

SHe inwardly sighed, and blinked as the atmosphere regained its seriousness. SHe closed her eyes and gave a deep listening, tapping into as much of her hearing power as she could.

(sorry, passing it off back to you XP)

Cupping the key, Connor slipped it into his pocket, listening intently, although he trusted Elizabeth's senses more than his own. There would be nothing that Elizabeth could here, although there was a curious dead spot of sound, like there was something incredibly thick, in the basement.

Connor looked to Elizabeth, waiting for her judgement.

He glanced about them, keeping his senses aware for anything supernatural, although he didn't sense anything at all. Still, he didn't lower his guard. There wasn't something right here... in fact everything seemed incredibly wrong.

Elizabeth frowned as she listened, tuning her senses every which way. Something definitely felt wrong, but it took time to double, triple, and quadruple check that her senses kept saying the same thing.

"...it's...quiet. It's really strange...I don't hear anything wrong but...it's more like there's a lack of really any sort of normal sounds, especially...in the basement."

After a second of hesitation, she looked at Conner, and decided to be the first one in. She went to bop him aside and open the door.
