TL;DR: Casual fantasy RP based around socialization at an inn.

The trading town of Evondell is a much-needed neutral spot at the edge of the Kingdom of Omicria. Within the town lies a large inn which serves members of all of the nearby races, including humans, halflings, orcs, goblins, kobolds, and a few others. Somewhat ironically, it's named "The Monster's Den", due to the attitude often held by most humans towards the less developed groups outside of Omicria's borders. Although this is a casual RP, the worldbuilding will be somewhat minimalistic, as most of the action will take place in and around the inn.

This is mostly a social RP, not one with much violence or "epic" adventuring, although we can certainly have characters about to go off on an adventure, stop over while on an adventure, or play host to them after returning from an adventure. The inn has heated pools from natural springs and a spa section, but as this is public, it is not an explicit RP; take that to PM and obey the rules of the forum. That said, PG-13 romance is definitely allowed.

There's no defined plot in mind atm, and we can make things up as we go along. I've posted a few guidelines below for the common races, their appearance, and a bit about their culture, but these are more like suggestions than anything hard and definite:

- Humans: Can be of any appearance found IRL. Most Omicrian humans work as farmers, artisans, or traders. They tend to dress in a manner common for England in the Middle Ages. Nothing too odd. Humans are the richest species in the area and make up a majority in the town of Evondell. Omicria's culture can be defined in-game as we go along.

- Orcs: Larger and stronger than humans, with gray or green skin. Males have tusks. Hair can be any color, but black is most common. Most males are warriors, hunters, or craftsmen. Clothing varies, but male orc clothes tends to be utilitarian, female clothing is often more ornamental. Furs and animal hides are common materials for their clothes.

- Goblins: Small, usually green-skinned, rarely other colors. Female goblins have hair, males sometimes do. Most are hunters, foragers, or engage in very primitive agriculture. Clothing tends to be minimal, and often includes loincloths, footwraps sometimes, and chestwraps in the case of the females.

- Kobolds: Small reptilian humanoids who can be any color but are most commonly a shade of red or a rusty orange. They usually work as miners, but have hunting parties as well. Depending on the species, the females may or may not need to cover their chests. They've never even considered using footwear. Clothing otherwise is often limited to the bare minimum needed to remain modest.

- Halflings: Small humanoid people who dress like humans save for the footwear who may or may not have an abundance of hair on their feet. They make excellent farmers, brewers, vintners, shepherds, and other jobs expected in a bucolic village.

I've kept this simple in order to take in as much input as possible. I may play the person who runs the inn, but everyone here can play as many characters as they think they can handle. With all that said, any takers? We can flesh this out more once there's some interest.

Hey, I am super new, so if you don't mind me blundering about a bit while I learn, I would love to join. I think I'd like to make a goblin character. It would be cool for him to be a shepherd, if that wouldn't be too odd, a forager if not, I suppose.

That works. A shepherd is perfectly fine.

Sweet! Should I start working on a character sheet or wait for some more people to join and see where things are going?

At this point, it's probably best to wait until 1 or 2 more people express interest, then we can really get to work on it. No point in wasting our time if it's just 2 people here.

So far I was thinking maybe a brother/sister adventurer pair. Humans, most likely. Maybe they could just show up at the inn every now and then and drop some information about the wider world.

Sounds good. As for me, I might have two characters. One's a female orc, and the other, I'm still working on, but he'll own the tavern and be a male.
