As a response to the blaster fire, the brown wolf ducks away then stands taller, snarling. His sharp wolf fangs are visible, but he does not attack. He has been ordered not to follow, but he wants to so badly, and it's clear in his stance. He steps forward, lowering his head as if to attack. His claws click on the tiled floor as he pads up the staircase to stand in front of Vishu. But he stops as a voice calls out.

"Brown! There you are!" It's Kissimi, with the white wolf standing beside her wearing a customized saddle bag perfect for shopping.

He looked up as he heard Kissimi's voice, expression that of anger and slight fear. "Get your dog under control!" He snapped, quickly hiding his blaster. He was aware she might have seen it, and he could only guess what the price for trying to shoot her pet would be. "I don't see why you keep such vial pets."

She glares, shaking her head.

"My friends are not pets," she takes a step forward, "Drop the blaster and we won't have a problem."

Both wolves fall into spots beside her, growling and occasionally barking at her.

He quickly set his weapon down, kicking it away and raising his hands. "I really am sorry, my friend. Though I don't see why you'd send your dog- erm, wolf- after me when you knew I'd be willing to help you if you needed it," he said quickly, taking a hesitant step back. He disliked how Kissimi had gone from reluctantly helping him to a cold and heartless girl in not even seconds. He hadn't known the wolves weren't pets!

The two wolves growl and take a step forward, moving in front of Kissimi slightly.

Vishu sighed. "This is about the bounty, isn't it?" He asked. "Look, I don't take you as a hunter, correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem like somebody who can negotiate. She's just a child, after all!" He knew his words weren't completely true. He knew that his sister had already managed to cross some extremely powerful people. But he would protect her with his life.

"Oh, Vishu. How very wrong you are," She picks up the blaster and turns it on its owner. "Now step aside."

Vishu's eyes widened but, despite his better judgment, he didn't step aside like she'd told him to. "No. You won't be hurting my sister." He hissed, his voice firm yet shaky.

Vishu hesitated, but decided against obeying her. He had no weapon, but he didn't want his sister getting hurt either. "No. She's done nothing wrong. You'll have to kill me before I let you lay a dirty hybrid hand on her!" He snarled, stepping forward, almost meeting the wolves. He knew if this came to a fight, he'd lose. But he didn't care.

She flicks her wrist, firing a warning shot into the wall behind Vishu.

"Perhaps I will," She hisses.

As if by silent command, the wolves skirt around Vishu and into the house. They are smart enough to know what Kissimi wants, and how to get it while doing as they please.

Vishu yelped and tried to shut the door, but he knew he was too late in his reaction, as the wolves had gotten inside already. He muttered a curse but slumped against the wall, defeated. "Please don't kill her. She's all I have-" His voice cracked.

Vishu sighed and pulled his knees to his chest. He didn't know what Kissimi would do to the child, and he didn't want to know. He shouldn't have given up his blaster, even if it meant getting attacked by wolves. He shouldn't have- no, he couldn't keep thinking like that. He stood and went inside, afraid of what he would see.

Inside, the wolves are searching in vain for the child, but to no avail. The white wolf sits outside the girl's bedroom door, silent and still. The brown wolf joins the other wolf, but barks and growls. The brown wolf is silenced by the white wolf's sharp bark.

Vishu saw this and was puzzled. Then he realized why... wolves can't open doors. He retreated around the corner, but he may have been quick about it as he tripped and fell flat on his behind.
