The Setting (the Wildlands on the PHB map)

The center of civilized life in the game is Skenrith Keep, which is literally a keep. The road from the south-west ends in the keep, from there to east and north there are only paths, if at all. There are only few villages: Woodhaven is south-east of Skenrith Keep, Alwick is north from it, Gravestone (mining 'town') is a little more north from Alwick.

The known factions: (all based in the keep)
- Skenrith Keep, focused on protecting the keep

- Eastwatch Rangers, focused on protecting the common folk

- Adventurers' Guild, focused on gathering gold and reputation

The whispered factions:
- rebels hiding in the east, plotting to occupy the keep
- shady witch hunter(s), hunting magic users and artifacts
- Elven tribe far to the east, protecting the forest
- a hidden heir of Sentra gathering support
- beastmen (orcs?) gathering in the north
- dark creatures led by ghostly horsemen

Thanks for having me. Here's the answer to that question you asked in the interest check:

He's been there for the better part of seven years, a little over a third of his life so far. Since both of his parents travel a lot as well, Allan grew up moving from place to place on a regular basis. With both of his parents' homes being a common destination. Sometimes he'd be living in his mother's tribe, other times he'd be living with his father's family, occasionally he'd go off with one or both of his parents to other places as well.

I added stuff to the 0th post: images and summaries of people in the keep.

If that's ok for you, the story starts in the early summer when the weather is usually fine but not searing hot.

Would you like
- some instant action (e.g. you're on the path to ... when suddenly ...)
- some instant job in a settlement, but time to prepare
- to just interact with people in the keep and find some jobs from them while talking?

Did Allan take the offered key from Torok?

Hey, Silent Feather,

This is specifically a 1x1 game, with one player and GM. In the future, I might start a group game, but don't count on it soon.

Whoops. I knew I was forgetting something. Yes, yes he did.

Also, would Allan need to roll something to know that the Eastwatch Rangers are hunting werewolves, or can he know without a roll if I want him to?

The werewolf-silver connection is probably obvious for him, being a curious and well-travelled person.

Oh, alright.

Thank you for telling me.

No problem.

Would Allan need to roll anything to accurately estimate how much coin he would need to purchase the necessary amount of silver?

Also, how long would the journey from the Keep to Gravestone be?

Above a hundred Gp, 1000+ in Sp, off the top of his head. You can roll for a more accurate guess, but it still highly depends on the artistic quality of the items and how attached the owner is.

20-30 miles between Skenrith Keep and Gravestone town.

I'll make a post soon, just wanted to explain how I see this negotiation: the rangers are not rich folks, they can't swing around 1000+ Sp any time they want to. So, they'll pay Allan, of course, but not the amount to buy the silver directly. What they are looking for is agreeing on some service in return for the items, and that's where a silver-tongued merchant comes in.

Allan has advantage on Guile checks (Silver Tongue), so you can roll twice with d20 and keep the higher one.

Oh yeah. I did that. Worry not. My lower roll was a 20.

When the farmers say forest folk, are they talking about elves?

It's a good guess, but none of them said it directly. Like the silver-werewolf connection.

Sorry to keep you waiting so long, I've had a very busy and stressing period in life.

I might post this night, but more likely tomorrow morning.
