Caty decided to take the night off from patrolling and the Young Avengers Tower. She loved her friends and loved being around them and Karolina, but Nightmare's attack was still weighing heavily on her spirit. She wasn't scared they'd get attacked there again. She was more worried about herself. Could she possibly hurt Karolina? She thought about how her superhero career started. She started it by giving one thief a concussion and another the death penalty after he killed her father. She couldn't imagine Karolina doing anything to push her to hurting her, but she was so confused. His words implying that he was showing them visions or possible realities and not their own fears kept her in a sea of fear. In a way, Nightmare did win that night. He shook all of them to their core, well maybe not all of them. Some did take their time in there better than others. She never expected she'd be the one most rattled.

"What am I going to do, Jumper? I'm being silly, aren't I? There's no way I'd hurt Karrie... Right?" Caty asked looking at the tiny spider sitting on her chest.

Jumper blinked for a moment, unsure of how to answer the question. She wouldn't physically hurt her, but emotionally was possible.

"Wow. Since when did you become so judgey? I don't like Hobie like that. Plus, Karolina's not worried about that anymore. So if she's not worried why should I be? Good talk."

The comm on Caty's nightstand beeped to life transmitting Danny's message. She reached over to pick it up so she could listen better and her eyes widened at what she was hearing. The Jackal was back and not only did he have her cousins it sounded like he still had another clone up his sleeve with some interesting tricks. He messed up not coming for her and Danny first. Now they know what to expect. She jumped out of bed with Jumper clinging on for dear life, but that thought of life stopped her in her tracks. She remembered the last time she fought Jackal. It wasn't a fight. He tossed her around like a ragdoll and now he has another clone of her. Clone of her... What if this electric clone isn't the only new clone? What if her clone was going to hurt Karolina? She decided not to call Karolina to keep her safe and instead got dressed in her Spider-Costume.

Just as she was about to jump out of the window her mother came into the room dressed in a catsuit similar to hers with a SHIELD emblem. Around her waist was a gun belt with two blaster pistols hanging at her sides. Caty couldn't believe it. Karolina was right. Her mom was an Agent of SHIELD. "This isn't the way I wanted us to trust each other with our identities, but considering you're in your costume I assume you already know about your cousins."

"Yes, ma'am. But I don't know where they are, do you?"

"No. The Jackal changed his base of operations after the girls became free agents and something shut down the trackers in their suits."

"You don't have a tracker on my suit, do you?"

The silence was loud. "That's not important right now."

"Oh my God, you do. My super spy mom tracks Danny and I."

"I just want to make sure you two are safe, but now is not the time for this."

Before Caty could tell her mother that she was right her phone started ringing. It was Hobie. She reluctantly answered it. "Hey, sorry to call your mainline with a spider problem, but I just saw some spider-guy bring an unconscious spider-girl into a seemingly abandoned warehouse."

"You're a lifesaver Hobie. Literally. Send me the details so I can send it to Danny and we'll be on the way. We could probably use your help if you're on the prowl tonight."

"I'm always on the prowl. I'll see you when you get here." Hobie hung up and texted Caty his location and she texted it to Danny.

She turned to her mom. "You ready? Danny's going to flip when he sees you."

As soon as Danny got the text, he swung towards the location. There, he found Prowler already waiting on the roof.

Danny gave Prowler a salute, then clung to the edge of the roof, peeking over the side. He scanned the area. The warehouse was old, brick walls covered in graffiti and the windows long since shattered. Rusted metal doors hung slightly open, and the occasional creak of settling steel echoed through the night. He adjusted his position, to get a better view. He could see a few old security cameras, but they were either smashed or powered down. He counted at least three possible entry points: a broken skylight, a loading dock door that had been forced open, and a fire escape ladder leading to a side door.

He adjusted his position, crawling to a nearby skylight that had long since lost its glass. He caught a glimpse of Dani webbed up in a cocoon alongside their cousins. Nearby, the guy that had taken them was pacing back and forth, his fists crackling with blue electricity.

But the thing that took Danny off guard… He saw more familar figures marching around the warehouse. More clones. “God damn it. I thought we were done with the clone nonsense.” Danny muttered to himself. He knew he had to get them out of there, but he also knew he couldn’t just rush in. This guy had already kicked his ass once. They needed a plan.

Come on, Caty. Danny thought, clenching his fists tighter. Hurry up. We don’t have much time.

The Prowler paced back and forth wondering what he should do. He shouldn't leave Spider-Man in there alone, but someone needs to wait for Caty. Just as he was about to act and follow Spider-Man inside he heard the sound of someone landing behind him. He turned around, prepared to strike just in case it was the clone, but thankfully it was just Spider-Woman and some older unmasked woman. She actually looked a lot like Caty. Could she be…

“Hey, Prowler. Thanks for calling. I'm guessing Spider-Man is already inside. And oh yeah, this is… Agent Davis of SHIELD.” Spider-Woman said, introducing them. She didn't know why she didn't introduce her as her mom. She already let it slip that he knows her identity.

The Prowler took off his clawed gauntlet and extended his hand to shake Agent Davis's. He was right. She was. “It’s an honor, ma'am. I always wanted to work for SHIELD.”

“Well, considering the work you've put into your suit and the love and care you provide for your community, I'd say you're well on your way. The honor is all mine. Your help here is very much appreciated. Those are my girls inside that warehouse.”

Hobie nodded and said, “Thank you, ma'am. We'll get them back.” He pointed to the skylight Danny crawled into. “Spider-Man went in there a little while ago. We can catch up with him before he engages.”

The trio swung and grappled over to the warehouse, following Spider-Man's trail.

Meanwhile Inside the warehouse, Danny crouched silently on an overhead beam. His suit blended in the dim lighting better than it really should have. Below, he counted six clones, all moving like soldiers on patrol.

Near the back wall, he could see Dani and the others strung up, their bodies wrapped in webbing and suspended from support beams like spider-cocoons. Guarding them was the knockoff male Caty clone.

Danny took a breath. “Ok, it should be easy. Disable the clones, free the girls, and take out Sparky over there… Simple, easy… But terrible odds.” Backup couldn’t get here fast enough.

The trio reached the skylight and Hobie offered Agent Davis his back so they could drop down a bit more stealthily. He used a rope with a small but cohesive suction cup at the end and placed it on the bottom of the skylight. The two descended down to an overhead beam where they noticed Danny was hiding. Once they touched the beam they adjusted themselves to get in a comfortable position and crawled over to Danny. “The cavalry has arrived.” Hobie whispered to Danny as he approached him from behind. “Spider-Woman's coming down next.” Hobie turned his head to the skylight in the ceiling and saw that Caty wasn't there and his suction rope was cut at the top. Something was wrong. Someone knew they were here.

Hobie thought about turning back to check on her, but if he did her cocooned clone cousins down there would likely be done for. The Spider-Clone pacing around the area didn't seem like the patient type at all. He was worried about Caty, but she was the strongest person he knew. She could and would handle whatever came her way. They'd just have to finish up here fast so they could find and help her. “Nevermind. It seems like whoever's party we're crashing decided to give her a tour instead. But that means our element of surprise is gone. If we don't act now we'll risk losing everyone.”

Danny let out a breath of relief. “Took you long enough.”

But that relief did not last long when Caty did not come down with them. “Are you kidding? After all this trouble trying to be stealthy, and they know we’re here. Great.”

Dani and the other clones were still strung up like trophies. The electric imposter was still pacing with sharp, jagged movements. The other clones had taken up more alert positions, clearly reacting to something. Maybe they heard them. Maybe they smelled them. “We don’t have time. If I go back and look for her. Else we risk losing everyone down there.”

Of course he said that, but Agent Davis knew her son better. He was scared for Caty, and worse, he was blaming himself. She put her hand on Danny’s shoulder. “Caty can handle herself. She’s tough.”

And it was then that Danny had a reaction to his mother being there. “Mom?! How did you…? When did you…?”

“Agent of SHIELD. It’s a long story. We’ll talk about this later.”

Danny blinked. “You’re wearing a catsuit.”

“And you’re wearing spandex. Let’s focus, sweetheart.”

Hobie had to stop himself from laughing at the familial display of love. He missed his parents and thought about how nice it'd be to have a family of crime fighters. He was surprised they kept the secret from each other so long. “I'll swing down and distract him while you two free your cousins. You'd need their help to take on the others.”

Hobie fired a grapple claw to another overhead beam and swung from it hoping to catch the Spider-Clone off-guard. He knew it was likely he had that Spider-Sense thing Caty was telling him about, but he was still counting on his surprise attack landing. The clone still needed to find where the attack was coming from.

The Spider-Clone's Spider-Sense went off just as the Prowler predicted. The surprise of the matter shocked the clone more than anything. He knew that neither Caty or Danny would be able to set it off. Who was dumb enough to attack him? He got his answer with a kick to the chest as he turned around to see the Prowler launching into him from the sky.

The Prowler retracted his claw as he landed and ran forward to begin his fight with Caty's son, cousin? He didn't know.

Danny hated this. Every instinct in him screamed to go help Hobie. That clone had beaten the crap out of him, and his cousins. They all had powers. Hobie didn’t even have spider-sense. Just guts and cool gadgets. Danny clenched his jaw, trying not to imagine Hobie getting beaten up like he had.

“I shouldn’t let him go alone,” Danny muttered. His fingers itched to shoot a web and swing after him. “He’s going to get himself hurt…”

Agent Davis touched his arm. “He volunteered. He’s buying you time. Don’t waste it.”

Danny nodded. “Right… Let’s make this quick…” He shot a web, swinging down to the large steel beam that held his clone-cousins captive. Dani was still groggy, but her head snapped toward him at the sound of webbing. “Danny?” she whispered.

“It’s me,” he said quickly, yanking at the restraints with all his strength. “Hobie’s fighting the electric one. I need you and the others up… now.”

“I can’t feel my legs.”

“You will. Just breathe.”

Agent Davis pulled out a SHIELD-grade combat knife from a sheath at her hip. She didn’t hesitate. She sliced through the webbing holding her like it was cheese.

“Danny!”

He was already there. With a burst of webbing from his wrists, he slowed her fall, then caught her in his arms. She was limp and sticky with residual silk, but breathing. Her eyes fluttered open just as he landed.

“I got you,” he said softly.

Dani blinked in confusion. “You’re… really bad at staying out of trouble.”

“You too,” he whispered, easing her behind a steel column for cover. “Hang in there.”

Agent Davis was already moving. “Next one!”

They repeated this for the others.

Meanwhile Hobie was fighting the hardest battle of his life for his life. He knew the Spider-Twins were insanely strong and that this clone didn't have any qualms about holding back that strength, especially against someone he didn't even know. The Prowler's suit afforded him some protection against a lot, but he hasn't tested it against a Spider-Punch yet and he didn't think this was the time to do that experiment.

The Prowler shot a dart from his gauntlet, which the Spider-Clone expertly dodged by bending backwards, but that was part of Hobie's plan. He followed up the dart with a compressed burst of air that hit the clone directly in the face when he came back up, sending him flying backwards. [color=7f0faf]“Wow. That actually worked.”[color=7f0faf] Hobie said, surprising himself.

The Prowler decided to charge forward, not wanting to give his opponent the time to recover and turn the tides.

Camilla was cut loose first and after gathering her bearings helped with Liz.

Liz woke up feeling groggy. She couldn't believe they all got taken down and captured so easily. They were definitely going to get an earful from SHIELD. Liz looked around and didn't see Caty anywhere. “Where's Caty?” She whispered?

Agent Davis cut loose Cassie next and pointed to the open skylight. “She was taken as we came in here to rescue you.”

Cassie's eyes widened as she awoke to the sound of Caty in danger. If it weren't for her she wouldn't be alive, have a family, or even have a name. Without hesitation or acknowledgement to anyone she shot a web to the skylight and launched herself up. She wasn't going to leave her to face the Jackal herself.

Camilla sighed. “I guess that leaves us to handle the clones. Who's that fighting down there?”

“He's a friend of Caty's.” Agent Davis answered. “The Prowler, but he doesn't have any powers. Liz, can you help him?”

Liz nodded in response. “Yes, ma'am.” She kissed Camilla on the cheek. “Give them Hell.” She then jumped down and fired off a blast of her bio-electricity at Caty's electric clone. “Let’s see how you like it.”

Danny crouched beside Dani once more, eyes darting between her and the fight unfolding below.

“You up for round two?” he asked, already knowing the answer.

Dani groaned as she stretched her arms and flexed her fingers. “My legs still feel like jelly, but I’m good enough to punch a clone in the face.”

“That’s the spirit.” Danny smirked and helped her to her feet.

“Let’s go remind these cheap knockoffs why they’ll never be the real thing.”

Danny offered his hand. “Together?”

She took it without hesitation. “Always.”

The two of them dropped down together from the beam, landing hard amidst the chaos. As Liz unleashed her bio-electric blast at the electric clone, Danny and Dani flanked the remaining spider-clones on either side, cutting off their formation.

One of the clones turned to face them. “You two again?”

Danny cracked his knuckles. “Yeah. And this time, we brought backup.”

Dani gave a sharp whistle, signaling to her sisters. “Let’s show these fakes what a real family looks like.”

Caty was sent flying into another building across the street by her nemesis, the Jackal. "Ow." She said as she grabbed her head and tried to get out from under the fallen rubble all around her. "No hi, no I haven't seen you since Christmas, just straight to fighting. Did anyone tell you you have poor conversational skills?"

"I like to let my fists do the talking." The Jackal said as he landed a few feet in front of her.

"See, that's the problem." Caty said finally getting up. "I don't even know why you're so obsessed with me. I don't even know you. It's kinda creepy. I know I'm called Spider-Woman, but I'm not even eighteen yet and I have a girlfriend."

"You do know me, Caty. And I don't want to be with you. I want to end you for destroying my niece's life." The Jackal transformed into Miles Warren as he said the last sentence.

Caty couldn't believe her eyes. It was Gwen's uncle. "Dr. Warren? That's why you attacked me after I left your house on New Year's Eve. But I'm still confused. Why try to kill me? Why create clones of me and Danny? Why not bring back Gwen's dad like you did Liz?"

"I tried. He was my first clone. Unfortunately his DNA at the time was corrupted. But I later found samples at his home that proved perfect for the cloning process. He's in that lab. But I want you and your brother dead before I bring him home to Gwen. I don't want you two leading to his deaths again or someone coming after her personally."

"You can't blame me for that. The Hobgoblin's insane. His problem was with Norman Osborn. He attacked me thinking Gwen and Harry were Spider-Man and Spider-Woman."

Miles paused for a moment. "Norman..." His conviction was starting to slip, but the inner monster, his inner Jackal was getting louder and louder. He wanted blood and it was starting to consume his rational thought. "I'll just have to kill him next." He transformed back into the Jackal and charged forward to slam Spider-Woman into the building.

Caty realized she wasn't going to get through to him with her words so maybe communicating with her fists was the best option. She used his momentum against him and slid in between his legs before quickly turning around and shooting webs at the still intact part of the wall before pulling with all of her might to bring it down on top of him. It worked, but not to the extent that she hoped. It didn't slow him down at all. She stood up and dashed forward before he had the chance to fully recover. She jumped and spun in the air leading to a double kick straight to his face that sent him flying into the building.

Spider-Woman fell to the floor and rubbed her feet to console them. "Felt like I was kicking a mountain. What's this guy made of?" She said before struggling to her feet. She swung inside the building to give her feet some rest, but couldn't find the Jackal once she entered. Her spider-sense activated to warn her about the incoming Jackal dropping down from above. She shot another web just in time to avoid him as he crashed into the floor below. When it came to brute strength and durability it was obvious that the Jackal had her beat. She had to figure out a way around it. She had him slightly edged out with speed and had more range with her webs, but she knew that there wasn't much they could do against him. She also had her ability to control spiders, but didn't want to torture the guy like he had been torturing her and her family. She dropped to the ground and turned to face him. She beckoned him forward with her right hand and waited for him to charge like the bull he was.

When the Jackal was close enough to her, Spider-Woman shot webs into his eyes. He roared in annoyance causing her to web his mouth shut as well. She took the opportunity to then give him a five-piece combo that started with a right hook to his cheek, followed by a left hook, right jab, right uppercut, and finished it off with a double fisted hammer punch knocking him towards the ground. He recovered and finally ripped the webs from his eyes to reveal the fury inside of them.

He grabbed her arm as she went for another punch and flung her across the room. He removed the webs covering his mouth as he approached her ready to finish what he started so long ago.

Spider-Woman couldn't believe even that wasn't enough to give him pause. She threw her all into those punches and he was eating them. Probably would have literally ate them if she didn't close his mouth. Then a twinkle of hope glistened in her masked eyes as she noticed a familiar silhouette above the Jackal.

Cassie jumped down from the ceiling and clung onto the Jackal's bag like a spider-monkey and stabbed him in his eyes with her fingers. He roared out in genuine pain and anger at being blinded by one of his insufferable creations. She didn't let up just there. She slammed two fists into the sides of his head to rattle his brain. She wanted to go further. She wanted to kill him for all that he had done to them.

It was strange, but watching this kind of made Caty feel bad for the guy. He was now effectively blind and beating on him just didn't feel right. She stood up and shook her head. "That's enough, Cass."

"He hurt sister." Speaking her first words to Caty.

Caty's eyes widened underneath and on her mask. "Your first words. You used Santa's gift. But it's okay. He's in pain. He's doing it all for Gwen. I don't blame him. I blame the monster inside him. And I don't want to be responsible for Gwen losing someone else. And although he's misguided in all of his ways he's still technically your father."

Cassie hadn't considered that. He was technically their father, but she knew that as long as he was conscious he would do anything to finish what he started. She cupped her hands together and slammed them into the back of his head causing him to fall over and revert from his Jackal transformation before webbing him up so he wouldn't escape. They'd call the police later and have him picked him.

Spider-Woman winced as she watched the Jackal fall to the floor. She forgot exactly how strong Cassandra was. She was glad she never used all of that strength against her when they first met. "Thank you, Cass. Let's go join the others."
