The situation was quite comical, the girl introduced herself as Lauren and her attempt to pronounce Castelobruxo was quite cute and funny too. Catalina blushed still ashamed by such a silly accident.

"Y-Yes, Castelobruxo" The blonde confirmed giving the name of her school a portuguese accent. "I am Catalina, nice to meet you, and I´m sorry, again. " she added, this time shifting to an american english accent. Just then she realized the girl had the Slytherin emblem on her clothes just like Hye-Jin , it was quite a surprise to see these two were quite firendly, nothing like the bad things she was told about Styltherin students.

Once the little accident was solved Catalina looked at the door of the DADA's classroom. "I wonder what the professor has in mind for us" the Ravenclaw muttered to the two Sytherin girls, and as if the door heard what she said it opened to let the students walk in.

Inside awaited a woman, beautiful, but with a severe expression on her face that Catalina had to admit: it was quite scary.

"I am Babette Augsburg, I'll be your Defense Against the Dark arts professor. Take your seats, we will start right away" The woman stared at every student as if she was about to tear out their eyes with her fingers.

Catalina had in mind to sit at the front of the class, but after taking a quick look to the professor she changed her mind and ended up sitting on one of the last desks.

Hye-Jin had looked ahead as they moved up the stairs, keeping an eye on Catalina as she listened to the girl explain where she was from. She was thinking about what she knew of caiporas when she noticed the small group ahead of them but was too late to say anything as Catalina walked into someone she quickly recognised as Lauren. Which meant it wouldn't be too much of an argument.

"Hello" Hye-Jin said to Lauren, a nod in her direction after Catalina explained and apologised again "ready for lessons? It will be harder this year and I don't think some others are ready."

She made sure to enter after the other two, keeping her neutral expression as she saw how the teacher was staring at everyone. Her eyes only narrowing slightly, and she paused to see where Catalina went first before deciding to also sit somewhere near the back. It was her favourite class but she didn't need to sit right at the front and make others look bad as she normally did.

"Oh, no worries. At least you weren't an asshole about it" she smiled, noticing that the girl was surprised by having a pair of Slytherins be nice to her. Well, her parents did teach her that there was quite some power in having good friends, so she made a point of trying to be nice and friendly to everyone. Unless you really deserved rudeness, then you better be ready to suffer it all.

"Of course I'm ready" she responded to her housemate. "I'm only worried about the professor. She doesn't look like a bad teacher but... she looks like a strong one. I think this year will be hard, but in a good way" she said, already walking to try and get a seat right in the middle. She didn't like sitting in the first row, not liking the attention, but all the way to the back could be even worse: everyone knew that professor's kept an eye there too. She found a seat right in front of the other two girls, a good place, and judging by the professor's eyes... better to be far from her.

She got her book and things ready, not wanting to give the woman any reason to pay attention to the ginger, and waited patiently until they started. She was just a little turned in her seat, able to easily look back at the exchange students, but still able to keep complete attention on the class

Either the Professor was really scary or Catalina was easy to scare, maybe both. She looked around the gloomy room, the curtains had been drawn over the windows, and was lit by candlelight. Pictures adorned the walls, many of them showing people who appeared to be in pain, sporting grisly injuries or strangely contorted body parts. Nobody spoke as they settled down, looking around at the shadowy, gruesome pictures.
The most notable things were an iron chandelier hung from the ceiling, as well as a dragon's skeleton, the uruguayan hoped it would not return to life with some sort of dark magic.

"Listen up, since I am sure the vacations have caused your brains to rot I shall refresh your memories with some excersises you have been through in previous years."
The Professor explained as she a proached her desk there there was someing covered under a cloth, when the woman removed it everyone could see it was a cage filled with Cornish Pixies. Before any of the students even had time to prepare their wands the Professor opened the cage and the class became a chaos immediately.

Hye-Jin had taken her books out as others filled in, two of them in English and one in Chinese, and she opened the Chinese one that had a notebook inside it as the teacher spoke. There was a small frown when the term exercises was mentioned, not sure what was planned. She then noticed the covered up cage on the desk. Practical test the girl thought to herself. It was the first day though, so surely it would be something simple like a Wampus that they'd have to snare, or a Fwooper. A Boggart would be cruel on the first day back, so what else...

Pixies. It had to be pixies. The worst kind of first day creatures. Hye-Jin immediately knew she was going to dislike this professor. instantly books were being thrown around, pixies were making beelines for other students, and that included Hye-Jin and Catalina near her. Hye-Jin reacted immediately as two came flying directly at them, throwing her right hand out in front of her and saying "Imubulluse" firmly. The two pixies froze in place right above her, clearly caught in a freezing charm, even if the words were Korean instead of Latin. She only realised she hadn't used her wand after that, but it was too late now, as wandless magic required more of a focus and didn't have as wide a reach it only snared the two and not the others in the class.

Day one of new year and I'll already be in trouble she thought grimly to herself.

"Oh, God, not these things again!" she complained as soon as the cloth was removed. She didn't have time to complain more, soon the cage was opening and the pixies were flying around, making a huge chaos and attacking everyone. Lauren sighed, standing up to better see her surroundings, and moving just enough to only have the wall at her back.

Seeing a group of the creatures going in her direction and to the other two girls, she tried a strategy that would allow her to get the complete group. "Ventus!" she casted, trapping the pixies in a very small version of a hurricane. It would only last a few seconds, but they were now grouped together, making it easier to attack all of them at once. "Depulso!" she completed, sending them to the other side of the room.

She could plan something fancier, maybe better to get rid of all of the pixies in the room, but she didn't want to get too much attention on the first day or try something complex to fail, mess it up and get laughed at by everyone. Instead, she kept with that simple way of going, sending the pixies out of harming range, grouping them when necessary, immobilising others, and casting a shield if needed. All basic spells, nothing too complex, but still good enough.

In less than a minute the entire classroom was a mess, some students were sharp enough to not fall under the pressure but most panicked and the Pixies sure took advantage of it. Catalina was quite surprised of how strong this little creatures were and it only took three of them to lift up a female students who could not do anything but screaming, the naughty creatures were about to hang her from the chandelier.

Catalina reacted before the girl was too high and casted a spell with her hand "Immobulus!", one of the pixies fell to the floor, the other two lost balance and their strenght as now they had it more difficult to lift the girl. She casted the spell again and anoter pixie fell. The last pixie dropped the girl and Catalina caught the girl in her arms, the scared student hugged Catalina's neck like a baby.

"That was close!" She told the girl before letting her stand properly.

The Professor was with her arms closed, looking at the students with complete disappointment as most of the coud not handle such an easy enemy.

The chaos was calming down a little, with others starting to push back against the pixies meaning she could take the chance to take her wand and a quick strong "Depulso" hard pushing another group back into the same spot. She gave a firm look to some of the other students who had been cowering and with a few more casts gave them the hint to do the same. With that not so subtle hint given to the ones not helping she turned back to where the pixies were being pushed to.

She waited for as many pixies to be pushed into one spot as possible, and with a flick of her wand cast a firm "Immobulus" to freeze the large pushed together group above the cage. She hoped someone would get the hint and know to lift the cage.

The Professor watched the students with a face of total dissaproval, she did not try to hide her disappointment at all and simply sighed when the Pixies were finally under control.
"I can no beliee that you, empty skulls, are in your last year at Hogwarts and you are are not even able to handle a few Pixies" She sighed again, her words were like a bucket of cold water falling on the students and most of them didn't even dare to look at her to the eyes, ashamed of their own pitiful performance "I will have to go very on you if you expect to at least pass the exams..."

With a single movement of her fingers the caged got tightly locked wit magic and covered by the cloth again, You are dismissed for today" the woman said with a cold voice and the students were finally able to take a breath.



Oh god, talking about exams and on their first day already, and to make it worse things would get much more complicated since most of the students seemed to have forgotten how to cast simple spells like Immobulus, that gave Catalina the idea that the level of this 7th years was quite low, but there was always room for improvement.
As the students strted to walk out of the room the blonde approached Hye-Jin and Lauren.

"Well, that was...Fun? I guess. The Professor was not pleased at all..."

Well, what a mess in just a few minutes. Lauren hated pixies, and couldn't understand why the professor would use them just again. It had very few things to do with really being able to defend themselves. Though seeing the state of some of her classmates, maybe it was better than nothing.

As the class was dismissed, the ginger brushed off some of the dust on her clothes, and gathered her things with a sigh. She looked up, the exchange student approaching her. "Well, not so sure about fun. But yeah, the professor didn't look happy" she complained, shouldering her bag and moving to leave the desk and get closer to the entrance. "But seeing that we have a different DADA professor every year, it's understandable that we may be in for some work. I really hope we are able to get to a better level before exams."

Before walking to the door, she thought for a moment. "Oh, also, I have potions now, which class do you have next? Maybe I should walk you there, the castle is the worst to move around if you are not familiar" Lauren offered, knowing fully well how annoying it was to try and look for the classes in the beginning.

Hye-Jin couldn't hide her annoyance as the teacher had to rescue half the class. Even worse she'd ended lessons earlier! Although hearing that the teacher would go harder made up for a little, the girl wanted to be tested more. She didn't think the teacher would go as far as the teacher that brought a Dragon to a class in Fenghuang but she could hope, that would be an exciting challenge.

Still, class was over, and more in a huff than anything the Korean girl waved her wand at her books and bag, murmuring to herself as they packed themselves up. It was potions next after all, her second least favourite class after herbology, so she didn't want to hurry. Once her bag had dropped itself packed in front of her she picked it up and turned to the door, hearing the comment made by the two.

"I am not happy either" the girl added to the conversation "I hoped we would start final year of school better. Why does nobody else take this serious? This is one of most important classes." She paused, then sighed and added "now it is potions though. Hope the teacher did not change for that too."

Catalina was just about to answer Lauren's question, what a coincidence they had signed up for the same class. However the Korean girl, Hye-Jin stepped in, noticeably angry about what happened at the class. The uruguayan didn't say anything about it but she was also a bit disappointed to see how easily the Hogwarts students panicked with just some Pixies, if they had been Caiporas like Castelobruxo'then someone could have ended up dead.

In any case the exchange student smiled, a bit nervous by the korean's anger. "I do hope so, I love potions class and wouldn't like to start hating it because of some bad Professor" or idiotic students that might cause the cauldrons to blow up.

"Since we are together for the next class, mind showing the way? I heard the dungeons are creepy..."

Lauren frowned, the anger of her housemate making reason, but the ginger didn't see it useful for them to get angry at that. Only to try and do what they could, studying on their own. And even if their classmates were basically useless, she trusted her own abilities and her work to do everything.

"Yeah, it's a mess, but too late to really solve it" Lauren said, trying to sound peaceful. It was better not to keep discussing something that didn't have a real solution. "We'll see how it goes"

"And you are in for a ride, then" she answered the exchange student, an image of professor Blackwell in her mind. "Our potions professor is competent, and actually pretty good in what he does, but..." she stopped, trying to think of a softer way to say what she thought of him "he is not really nice. Usually, it's better to keep out of his sight, just in case. He is quick to give away punishments and take points" she admitted.

She started walking and going down the stairs, getting to the dungeons as soon as possible, not really wanting to be late. Lauren led the way, soon finding the classroom and, thankfully, finding it almost completely empty. Very few students were there, sitting, some of them in unusual seats for them. She started walking to a bench, before a voice she didn't expect stopped her completely. "Where are you going, Miss Austen? The summer made you forget how to read?" the tall and dark figure that was their professor appeared in one of the side doors, arms crossed and his usual frown in place. "Take a look at the blackboard"

The ginger muttered a "Yes professor Blackwell" before going to the front of the class to check the board, seeing that their names were written in a map of the class seating places. Well, just perfect.

Hye-Jin had fallen into silence as she followed the other two. Silently fuming about the end of her favourite class still, but by the time they got to the door of the potions class she had mostly calmed down. She had however stopped at the door, being a bit more perceptive and noticing the board. It was too late for her to say anything and she watched Lauren walk into the lions den and get roared at.

She gave Catalina a quick look and a whispered "be quiet and pay attention to the board" before she entered. Noting that she had been put at the end of a row just behind the front row. She suspected why; separating her from the students who were more likely to try and copy her work and instead near the students who need the least help. Taking out her books and her notepad and saying nothing.

Catalina followed Lauren all the way to the dungeons, the ginger seemed to be in quite a hurry and because of such a fast walk the blonde couldn't even talk, she was already having it difficult to catch her breath. Was the Potions Professor the cause of such hurry? The girl remembered the Slytherin Prefect saying the man was not nice, but how bad could it be?

When they arrived the first to get scolded was in deed Lauren, poor girl, she looked like the kind of student that tried to do everything with perfection and was now being mocked for a stupid blackboard.
Oh man, the DADA Professor looked difficult to deal with but this man looked dangerous, the blonde felt chills down her spine but said nothing.
Then Hye-Jin mentioned the board and she noticed they were assigned together, good, at least the Korean looked competent in this subject. The last they needed was someone making the cauldron explode.

The uruguayan got close to the Korean, so at least they could whisper each other.
"Poor Lauren, to be placed at the front of the class with that freak..."
