Great. Could you tell me when you plan on converting my surroundings into an open-air foundry the next time, please ?

Balthazar had not the slightest idea whether this orb could actually read his thoughts, or if it would be willing to start some sort of silent chit-chat with him, but the mental complaint was directed at nothing as much as it was at the magic thing anyway

The demon looked around: The bike was trash! The cruiser was trash! Frankly speaking, the city could put this whole part of the damn street onto the schedule for reconstruction. That also was a pretty good argument for hauling his ass away from here, right ? Right! And Balthazar had already figured where to go next. If he had to stay below the radar, then at least he could make some good use of that time as well. The demon knew where to go, but he had to try the less populated streets as far as possible. Public transport likely was stopped due to the assault.

The library customer card clashed gently against the scratched plastic surface of the RFID reader, a beep quick to confirm that its owner's request for elevated privileges had been acknowledged. The elevator in the Artificer's Library got moving. Superficially, this was a rather small library and book store specializing on all kinds of technical and technological topics, a geek's little heaven so to speak and there certainly were enough people fulfilling the cliché around. Yet there also was an entire level not open to the general public, but only to those who wouldn't freak out upon learning that some of the magical stuff was entirely true. This part's collection maybe was not the most exquisite one, but more than good enough for a start.

The challenge only was how to mount a search if one didn't even know what to look for except 'magical orb that talks and loves fire'. Maybe it was worth plugging in just that straight into this fancy A.I. search ? Balthazar's butt was already placed firmly on the poor stool and his fingers hovering above the keyboard ready to start typing, but then a brainwave hit him: First grabbing a potentially very precious thing that could have come from a high ranking bloodsucker that just died in a bomb blast, then surviving a pair of headhunters and then doing nothing better than providing a computer connected to a network with the information that he had the thing maybe was not the best idea!

He started the prompt anyway. If more police cruisers would show up within minutes, then at least he would have sort of a proof that his previous encounter had not been a coincidence and that he was indeed part of a manhunt due to that thing. The first results that showed up on the screen at least looked like the troopers would have plenty of time: Why did so many alleged artifacts throughout history have to be spherical ?

How about you just identify yourself, please. What or who are you, where do you come from and whose pocket did the blast rip you out off ?! Balthazar muttered to himself.

The half finished prompt flickerd then warped as the pixels rearranged themselves into a new search. Magical devices, spheres, able to communicate, picked up by Balthazar after the bombing of the Tem Gala.

Brazen Head - A brazen head (also called a brass head) is a legendary talking mechanical or magical head made of brass that was said to be able to answer any question—especially about the future. Some traditions regarding brazen heads name them as demons which have been bound into mechanical from. In these cases the demons involved are bound against their will to serve as arbiters for mundane and magical contracts. In some cases the heads are encased in shrouds so that they appear spherical until opened by smearing ones blood onto the metal.

The computer screen flickered as various pixels died and burned, leaving the screen grainy and unusable and putting a faint shimmer of static electricity in the air which prickled across the computuer. The lights in the library dimmed for a moment, then returned to their previous level, though the hue seemed slightly off and a faint scent of sulfur seemed to linger.
