Penny pondered the golden beings' query as glanced down at her inviting hand. Her eyes shifted towards the doll for a moment as it behaved like a living being. Even with the uneasiness of the behavior of the wooden doll Penny didn’t feel threatened by the golden being or the doll. What she felt instead was a sense of trust and warmth which wasn’t what she thought she would have felt in a situation like this. Maybe having cleaned many of the dolls prior had given her some grace with it, it may have even established a friendly feeling towards Penny.

She started to suspect that the pulsing Heartstone may have something to do with that feeling. It didn't seem like it was a coincidence that it's pulsing glow had grown brighter with her level of calmness growing. “What exactly does becoming its instrument and its voice entail…will it allow me to clean and organize better? I don’t have much need for other abilities that don’t serve to further my qualifications when it comes to being a chief maid, if it allows me to turn chaos into organized harmony I may consider it….” Mulling over the offer that had been presented to her. She didn’t understand what it all meant. But the part about it sharing her purpose in bringing order to chaos had been enough to pique her interest.

Glancing towards her own right hand she made sure it was clean of debris before slowly extending it towards the Golden Eyed being. It wouldn't be right if she offered her a filthy hand in a gesture of friendship. That just wouldn't be the respectable thing to do and went against her code of cleanliness honor. The offer sounded reasonable enough, and free of anything worrisome or greedy as it seemed they both had something to benefit from a mutual agreement. She didn’t know what to expect but she wouldn’t ever find out if she didn’t at least try to work with the golden entity before her.

Vetreus’s muscles strained as he held the debris up long enough for his companion to get out. Out of the two of them, he was the more resilient one. If harm were to come to the little dragon. All the tribulations would be for nothing.

Seeing the little one skitter off sent a bit of relief washing over the draconian. Now comes another problem. Feeling the strain on his lungs become unbearable. Vetreus would release a strained cough, with it a plume of spores would be extended from his breath.

Dammit

His sharper senses were at a disadvantage here, luckily the weight threatening to crush him would disappear.

Feeling the weight of the debris relieved, Vetreus would stand up to his full height. Still coughing, the draconian looked around frantically for the little dragon. Finding Griselda next to Esther, the tenseness in his shoulders would release.

Now it was only a matter of time for the spores to be gone from his system. The inflammation in his lungs were already disappearing. Approaching the cohort, Vetreus looked at Esther with an incredulous look.

“Didn’t take you for a mother. Who is the poor sap of a father?” Vetreus looked down at the child with a pensive glare.

Babies were so ugly.

Suddenly, an air of familiarity would waft his nose. His glare sharpened, bringing his nose closer. Inhaling deeply before leaning back.[Heightened Senses:Smell E]

“Is that the maid? Make sure you support her head.” Vetreus folded his arms sternly as he examined Esther’s form.

Meanwhile, Griselda would take advantage of the distraction. Slithering away towards the carcass from earlier. A devilish grin on her face.

“Bone smacklebeef!”She muttered to herself before indulging herself.

In the chaotic aftermath of the explosion, as the dust begins to settle over the ruined shack, a new sound cuts through the air. It is not the groan of splintering wood or the thrum of the forest, but a crisp, magical chime, emanating simultaneously from the Scrying Orbs that still hover silently beside each party member.

The voice of Proctor Valeriana issues from each orb, her tone as sterile and devoid of emotion as it was in the briefing room, completely detached from the violent reality of the situation on the ground.

"Contractors. The Scrying Orbs have registered a massive discharge of chaotic life energy, followed by the cessation of the primary anomaly's signature. Your primary objective—to reach the epicenter and analyze the source of the disturbance—is now complete."
There is a brief, clinical pause.

"The data retrieved is sufficient. Your contract is fulfilled. Return to the extraction point at once to receive your payment. The Luminary is not responsible for any personnel lost or assets expended beyond the completion of the primary objective. Valeriana out."

The chime sounds again, and the orbs go silent. Their recording lights extinguish, leaving the party in the eerie, pulsing gloom of the Verdant Heart.

- The characters were hired by the Ethereal Luminary to take Scrying Orbs to the hearth of a phenomenon, which was said had a primordial creature appear, deep in a forest named 'The Verdant Heart'. They delved into this twisted forest, fighting its corrupted inhabitants. Eventually, they found a shack in a clearing. Inside of it was a crystal that, upon touch, burst with energy of the Verdant Heart itself. The group then is contacted by the Proctor Valeriana from the Ethereal Luminary, being notified that their job is complete, and they should return, however, Penny is missing.
