𝒮𝒽𝒶𝓇𝒹𝓈 𝒪𝒻 𝐸𝒸𝓁𝒾𝓅𝓈𝒾𝒶

Long before Light and Darkness shaped the fate of worlds, only one heart existed. This heart, called Eclipsia, was known as the Primordial Heart. It contained every emotion—courage, fear, love, sorrow, joy, hope—all held together in perfect balance. As Eclipsia dreamed, its dreams took shape and became the first worlds, giving rise to life and the emotions that fueled it. For a time, harmony defined the universe.

However, harmony is fragile. Although the exact cause remains unknown, scholars believe a corruption surfaced within one of Eclipsia’s own dreams. Whether this corruption was born from the worlds themselves or from an outside influence remains a mystery. What is known is that this disturbance caused Eclipsia to shatter. The event became known as The Fracturing.

Eclipsia’s broken fragments, now called Eclipse Shards, scattered to every corner of existence. Each shard represented a single emotion once held within the Primordial Heart. Seeking protection, they embedded themselves within the hearts of individuals who strongly embodied their specific emotional nature. There, they fell dormant, waiting for the moment their hosts would be pushed to awaken the power sleeping inside them.

When a shard awakens, it manifests as a Keyblade—an emotion-born weapon—and the person becomes one of the first Heartbinders, individuals chosen by fate to carry Eclipsia’s legacy. Their awakening brings hope that the Primordial Heart might one day be restored. Unfortunately, the shards’ power has also drawn out new threats.

Creatures called Wraithless, formed from the darkness of hearts drained of emotion, have begun to appear. Mirrorkin, distorted reflections of Heartbinders twisted by their opposing emotional extremes, hunt their originals in an effort to corrupt them. And a newly emerged faction known as the Eclipse Order believes that Heartbinders are too flawed to repair Eclipsia. Their solution is to take the shards—and the hearts that hold them—by force. Their belief is absolute: “The perfect heart must not belong to flawed beings.”

Recently, in the twilight world of Astrae Vale, the first sightings of Wraithless have shaken the peace. Over the past few weeks, citizens witnessed strange streaks of light across the sky, assuming them to be meteor showers or shooting stars. In truth, they were Eclipse Shards falling in search of new hosts. Now, during Astrae Vale’s annual Twilight Festival, the Wraithless have begun to attack, and those marked by the shards must face a harsh realization:

'If the Eclipse Shards are not recovered and balanced, all worlds will fade into an emotionless void.'

The Heartbinders must rise—before everything that makes hearts worth saving is lost.

I have a question. Does the keyblade have to manifest as a sword?

No. Keyblades will not HAVE to manifest as swords like they do from the games.

I was half tempted to pitch one for Sorrow even if its not a role and just make it a Roland Expy who only ever sprouts his speech of 'O Sorrow'
Something of it just amuses me

Unfortunately Sorrow would not be able to work mostly due to one of the many worlds we are going to visit is completely powered by sorrow as a negative altogether emotion.
If you want something like Fear, sorrow can be the negative aspect of it while the ability to overcome Fear(cant think of the emotional name for it) would be the positive aspect.
Just because your character may embody the shard of an emotion, your character has to surround that specific emotion and that has to be how your character acts all the time.
