Adventure is out there!


Totally not a reference that could be anything else!


On a quaint little island floating in the middle of absolutely nothing 👀 stands a monumental big top surrounded by beautiful rounded mountains and luscious trees galore. With a sparkling digital lake and an exhilarating carnival by its side, the tent's inhabitants are surrounded by endless potential for fun and enjoyment! 😃 Let's meet the cast, shall we?

Here are the living quarters of our wonderful whacky characters, um- *pulls out a list* Patch...GanglePomniKinger...Clover...Riff, ZoobleandJax aaaaand Snix and that's it! No one is missing off that list! 🤪 I'd say it's about time everyone gets up and at them so they can get a head start on today's adorably exciting adventure! Let's give our friends *glances at watch* a few minutes to prepare themselves and then we will get started!!

With a pop, Patch finds herself standing in the main gathering area of the circus tent. She rubs an arm across her eyes and blinks. The others are here, too. Everyone seems to have been poofed out of their beds and onto their feet. She yawns, her head still fogged with sleep. She opens her mouth to protest, then closes it. What would be the point? They were here now.

But Caine wasn't. Patch assumes he's giving them space to wake up before presenting today's adventure. She bets they have no more than five minutes to get their bearings.

First it was dark, and now it is light! Kinger stands in a row of his peers. All nine of them! Wow, what a way to start the day! Kinger blinks against the light, then turns to face the group and waves. "Good morning, everyone!" he says gleefully.

Gangle appears and nearly stumbles forward, waving her thin, ribbony arms to try to maintain her balance while her upper body swings forward.
"Whoa, whoa, wo-" She let out as she tried in vain to keep her balance. A push to her back suddenly sent her flying face-first into the ground. A loud crack cut through the air when she hit the ground. Slowly, she got back up, but the mask on her face depicting a smile had shattered in half once more.
"Oh...." Gangle whimpered as she grabbed the pieces of her mask.

"Never gets old," came a voice from behind her. A tall purple bunny was grinning ear to ear, clearly delighted by the hurt in Gangle's voice. He kept his hands behind his back and looked around, trying his best to act like he didn't just shove her over.

Amongst them, Snix appears as well, already gripping his fist tight and quite literally boiling with rage.
"Are you serious! Can a man not get some privacy around here?" He practically shouted, keeping his voice just below the threshold of a yell as he had learned to do. Almost as soon as he appeared, he started to storm off, back towards his room.
"I ain't doing this today."

CLOVER

One moment Clover’s in his bed, the next he’s drifting towards the floor with the colourful roof of the main circus tent stretching far above him. Nearby, he can hear the ever-familiar bleep that came with someone cursing.

‘Caine! You seriously couldn’t wait for us to get here ourselves first?!’

Just another day of that sweet Circus life. He’d been in the middle of a nice dream, too. It had Chunky and... well, most of the dream is quickly fading from his digital mind, but he’d felt the fur, real fur in his real hands. He misses fingers.

Pomni leans over him.

‘You okay?’

‘Peachy.’ He keeps his eyes fixed on the ceiling. Not that it matters with his lack of pupils. ‘I’m fine staying on the floor.’

Her response to that is a raised eyebrow and a held-out hand. Clover sighs. Clasping a leaf around her glove, he lets her pull him up to his... leaves. Biology really doesn’t have any place here.

Seems like most everyone else is here already. Zooble is already upset with Caine – which must be a record considering they’ve all been out of their rooms for a grand total of two seconds – but they’re shifting their focus to Jax, glaring at him like they’ve caught him doing something without having even seen him do it. It’s then Clover spots Gangle’s broken mask.

Ah. The usual.

There’s Pomni, of course, and Kinger, and Patch, and... he’s almost sure that they’re missing a couple of people. Pomni seems to have noticed the same thing, but Snix storming off has her pivoting towards him.

‘Snix, hang on. Don’t you at least want to find out why we’re here in the first place?’ she says. ‘Caine’s just going to teleport you back here if you leave now.’

Sound logic. Snix seems to be in a mood, though, and Clover, not keen on being caught in the crossfire, shuffles over to Patch.

‘Hey,’ he says in quiet greeting.

with a groan, the form of Riff pulled themselves up. They had been asleep when they'd been summoned and had just been dropped onto the ground. Squinting their eyes at the sudden bright light and oversaturated colors of the circus proper, they were not a happy camper as they rubbed the bridge of their beak. "Ugh...for #$@# sake Cain..." THey grumbled as the came up beside the group. "It's to early for this $#!+...so what's up, anyone have any idea what is going on?"

Patch turns to look as Clover approaches her. "Hi," she says with a smile and a small wave. "Sleep okay?" With the commotion of her peers around her, Patch feels herself start to wake up. She glances at the others fondly for a brief moment and takes a deep breath. It's nice to actually feel awake.

"Oh! Gangle!" Kinger shuffles forward and bends over the whimpering pile of ribbons. He extends a hand toward her. He moves like he is about to speak again, but does not. He looks at Gangle as if waiting for a response.

Riff approaches and Patch steps back to include them. "It looks like Caine might have wanted us up bright and early for our next adventure," she says. "I wonder what it will be?" She speaks with genuine curiosity. Sure, they were rudely awakened without warning, but they also weren't exactly real. Might as well just see what's coming up next, right?

Looking up at Kinger, Gangle's teary eyes watched his face, expecting him first to try to help her with her mask, maybe help her up, then expecting him to maybe have remembered to tell her something. She looks to his hand, not quiet extended to her to try to help, but she accepts it as she stands up.

"um, yes?" Was all she managed to reply in her usual snively voice.

"I think Caine wanted to do a head count, and I guess he decided our favorite pin cushion doesn't count" Jax replied to Riff, throwing his hands behind his head and leaning back.
"or you know, we've got an adventure for today. Like we do everyday"

Pomni's logic was solid indeed, and it caused Snix to pause and momentarily seethe but he relented with a heavy breath, steam exuding from his pipe as he did. Reluctantly and stiffly, he returned to the group and sat down, leaning his face into his fast as he grumbled to himself. His fist remained clenched furiously.
"If he's going to teleport us here, he should be here," He finally muttered loud enough for the others to hear, his words oozing with disdain.

‘Sleep okay?’

Clover shrugs.

‘Would be nice if I was still asleep,’ he says. ‘But we can’t always get what we want.’

It is somewhat odd that Caine isn’t already around to greet the people he literally dragged out of bed to play with, but Clover isn’t one to question manic, peppy AIs with an unhealthy obsession with game design. He’s just here, the way he was here yesterday, and the day before that, and so on.

Zooble, on the other hand, takes the ringmaster’s absence with much more enthusiasm.

‘Works for me,’ they say in response to Snix’s grumbling. ‘I’m going before he comes back.’

They seem unconcerned with the threat of being dragged back here, but Clover supposes Zooble wouldn’t be Zooble if they didn’t try ducking out of an adventure at every opportunity. Pomni steps up and, for a brief moment, he thinks she’s about to convince Zooble to wait too.

‘If you’re heading back to the rooms, could you see if Ragatha’s okay?’ she says instead. ‘I don’t know why Caine would summon all of us except her.’

‘Maybe he just forgot,’ they say, shrugging. ‘But sure, I’ll check on her.’

As they wander off, Patch starts musing on the day’s adventure.

‘Whatever it is, it’s not going to be a smooth ride,’ says Clover. ‘I don’t think the guy understands the definition of “chill”.’

Riff sighed as he rubbed at his temples, eyes shut with a grimace. "Ugh...here's hoping the adventure today won't be to *Doink*ing brightly colored..." He grumbled, really wishing he was anywhere but this brightly colored room right now.

Hearing Jax, the bird just rolled his eyes. "Yeah, kinda figured. Been here almost as long as you, I know the routine. Just the dental nightmare is usually hear blowing whatever we have for ears out by now."

Patch laughs in response to Clover's comment. "No, I guess he doesn't," she says with a smile. "It is strange, though, that he-"

Patch is interrupted by a popping sound. She turns toward the noise to see Caine blocking Zooble's path. "Zooble, wait!" he cries, hovering directly in front of them with outstretched limbs. "Today's adventure won't--shouldn't--be too intense." He makes air quotes around the word "intense." "It's an in-house adventure! Please, stay!"

"Well, there he is," Patch says.

"Here I am!" Kinger looks up with a smile and waves in Patch's direction. She watches as he waves for a few seconds more, then seems to remember that he was doing something and helps Gangle up.

"Um, yes?" Gangle says in a small voice.

"Okay!" Kinger says, his eyes closed in a smile. Patch watches to see what Kinger agreed to, but turns back to Caine and Zooble after realizing that Kinger was, well, just being Kinger, apparently.

There was a confused look plastered on the Gangle's mask when they stared at Kinger. She didn't have anything more to say in this conversation; it was like talking to a brick wall. Nervously, she rubbed her elbow, or at least where an elbow would have been on her ribbon arms. Her gaze turned to Caine when he appeared, a mix of relief that something would change the subject and despair at being reminded of her digital warden washed over her as she gathered for the next adventure.

Jax chuckled at the Riff's reply.
"Dental nightmare, I'm stealing that..." he said, his ever-present grin growing all the wider when he said it.
Once Caine appeared, he rolled his eyes but motioned towards the ringleader of this big top.
"Well, speak, and he shall appear," He said, before letting his arms drop, waving them from side to side as his smile reversed into a tired frown. As he moved to join the party surrounding Caine, he made sure to go out of his way to push Gangle to the side.
"Alright, what's the deal this time?"

Snix, on the other hand did not move. He stayed planted, grumbling and seemingly seething. An in-house adventure meant an adventure he probably couldn't avoid. He tapped his hands impatiently on his leg, letting it rattle like a hollow tin can as he did, awaiting a further explanation.

stepping over, Riff managed to catch Gangle before she could fall over again when she got shoved by the purple @$#@#. "Here...sorry about the mask Gangle. I'll see if I can fix it later if you want, okay? I'm sure there's some crazy glue or something around here."

(don't mind me, just keeping chat going a little bit since it's been almost a week without a post.)

Caine’s sudden appearance has Zooble taking a step back, but that’s all the ground they give before they cross their arms. They've picked a claw-and-glove combo today. Clover can’t imagine voluntarily picking a hand that wasn’t much better than those rigged claw machines. He’s gotten used to the broad leaves that serve as his “mittens”, but he misses the dexterity separate fingers offered. To each their own, I guess.

‘That’s really not much better than a regular adventure,’ Zooble says. Their gaze flicks to Jax as he steps up next to them to poke at Caine, but otherwise didn’t acknowledge him. ‘And where’s Ragatha? Why’d you summon all of us, but not her?’

While they’re hounding Caine, Clover finds himself warming up to the idea of an in-house adventure. Whatever wacky plot Caine has in mind, at least he’ll be throwing it at them in a familiar environment. No surprises – or at least, not much more than usual.

‘You know, I don’t think I’ve actually seen you get your mask fixed,’ Pomni is saying to Gangle. ‘It’s always back to normal by the time we go on the next adventure. Does it reset by itself?’

Caine fixes it sometimes, Clover’s pretty sure, but the AI’s attention span is spotty at best and he’s already caught up with Zooble’s usual evasiveness. He debates joining Snix on the floor, but Caine’s here and they’ll probably be moving again in a minute or two. It isn’t worth the effort.

In the end, he sticks by Patch’s side and waits for the day’s shenanigans to begin.

"Ragatha?" Caine seems to ignore Zooble's first statement and scratches the top of his head (or the roof of his mouth?) in thought. "I don't think I know a 'Ragatha.'"

"Oh, I know Ragatha!" Kinger shuffles forward, holding up an index finger. "Such a sweet girl. You should invite her to come and play!"

"Look, I know you all love your NPCs, but I've got different ones for you today! Though, I suppose I could..." Caine scratches what would be his chin and looks up into nothingness, thinking some more. "I suppose I could give you a 'Ragatha.'" He speaks again in a quiet voice to himself. "Whatever that means..."

Patch looks over at Clover and leans in close, confusion tilting her eyes toward each other. "Am I missing something?" she whispers. "Isn't that ragdoll girl named Ragatha?"

Caine speaks again just after Patch finishes her question, but does not appear to have heard her. "How about this? I give you one 'Ragatha' and you complete my in-house adventure where you don't have to encounter a new environment?" Caine clasps his hands together, tilts his head, and makes his eyes grow big with long lashes growing from the top. "Pleeeaase?" he asks Zooble, blinking a few times in what appears to be an attempt at cute puppy-dog eyes.

‘What do you mean you don’t know a Ragatha?’

Zooble’s rising voice has Clover’s attention drifting back to the spot where Caine hovers. The arguments between them and the AI are nothing new, but it looks like Caine’s words are agitating them more than usual. Considering what Clover is hearing, that's understandable. If Caine's beginning to confuse them with NPCs, that was... bad. Really bad.

‘Yeah,’ he mutters back to Patch. ‘Not sure what he’s playing at here.’

Pomni is still over by Gangle and Riff’s sides, but that doesn’t stop her from staring at Caine with dawning horror. Clover is abruptly reminded of her second day here, how she tried to bring back that gummy crocodile NPC and lost him near immediately. He doesn’t want to imagine what she might be thinking right now.

Call it whimsy, call it impulsiveness – whatever spurs him to action, ultimately, is an effort to keep the situation from derailing any further. He’s seen enough arguments with Caine that he’s not expecting this to come out in anything other than a resentful stalemate (or the ringmaster getting his way, anyway).

‘That’s not even a–what the [%$!#] are you talking about?’ Zooble is sputtering now, in the wake of Caine's oblivious offer.

‘Caine,’ he says, stepping up to them. He nods apologetically at Zooble for interrupting before continuing in his indifferent tone. ‘Buddy, you’ve got the whole rest of us waiting here to play your adventure. That’s, what, a 90% success rate? No harm in letting Zooble sit this one out. Maybe they’ll get enough rest to join in on the next one.’

‘Clover!’

His only response to their snap is a look and a shrug. Zooble’s ire doesn't last long; probably because they know what he's trying to do. With a harsh sigh, they fold their mismatched arms and look away.

Gangle stared at her broken mask, even as the others came to comfort her. She eventually picked up the pieces and stood up, offering a teary eyed but wistful smile to Riff's kind offer.

"Cane usually fixes it..." She said, before looking to the crowd gathering around their captor. She let out a heavy sigh.
"But I don't want to bother him right now" she added.
"Could you hold onto this, Riff? Maybe we can find something to fix it in this adventure" she added, bringing the two pieces of the broken mask up towards her fluffy avian friend.

"No, no, I gotta see this" Jax said with his arms crossed and his smirk gleaming.
"I'll gladly join this adventure if there's a 'ragatha' in it" he made sure to make the apostrophes with his fingers, before waving off the notion.
"What a dumb name, right Caine?" Jax couldn't help but Chuckle when he said it.

Riff slipped the mask pieces away for later, huffing out a sigh and rolling his eyes at Caine and Jax's respective shenanigans. 'why in the hell did I used to be friends with that screwy rabbit again...?' he thought to himself, even though he already knew the answer.

He understood all to well why Zooble didn't like going on these adventures, and he'd been here a bit longer than them. "Yeah, don't worry I'll try my best to keep em safe. Though with how Caine runs things... forgive me if I'm not crossing my fingers we'll find some sort of wonder glue or some [kazoo wheeze]...but yeah Pom-pom, Caine normally has to fix it, theirs only been like.....five times I can think of where we found something in the adventure that could fix it... before the Hare-brain over there breaks it, and the item. Again."

Pulling himself back up into his normal slouching stance, he looked up to Caine. "Everyone that's gonna be here is here Caine, now hurry up with telling us about whatever crazy [Twitter notification] you decide to throw us into today."

"Right you are, Jax!" Caine says, again blatantly ignoring Zooble’s distress. Then, he turns to Clover. ”Actually, it’s an 88.888888…” Caine glitches as he speaks the repeating decimal, getting faster until he snaps back to normal. ”-percent accuracy, Clover! But, you’re right.” Caine sighs, looking defeated. ”Zooble, you can join us next time.”

”Aww, feel better soon, Zooble!” Kinger says with a sympathic wave.

”Alright, alright,” Caine says after Riff chimes in. He pretends to roll up his sleeves, then snaps his fingers.

”But what about-“ Patch was about to ask about Ragatha, but her sudden transformation takes her off guard. She rapidly begins to shrink along with her peers. The world around her gets bigger and bigger until she is no taller than a sewing needle. “Cool!” she exclaims, examining her hands. She seems to have kept the same proportions. Then she looks back up at Caine, who is hovering over them with his face close to the floor. He is squinting. They must be difficult to see, Patch assumes.

”Today’s adventure is: Itsy Bitsy Hider! Your objective: get big again!” Caine says gleefully. ”Have fun, my teeny tiny turtles, and don’t get smooshed!”

The sound of distant, booming footsteps and childlike giggling pulls Patch’s attention from Caine. She looks for the source of the sound and, upon not finding anything, looks back to find that Caine has disappeared.

"thanks," Gangle said with a tiny smile, though Riff's lack of faith quickly made them quickly revert to their usual forlorn moue. Once they began to shrink Gangle looked up towards Caine.

"Before we start the adventure, co-" unfortunately that was one step too late. Caine disappeared before she could finish her request. She then looked to the others, seeing they where all just as small. The thunderous steps caused them to whip their head around though, placing her hands over her mouth anxiously.
"What was that?"

Jax seems enthused by the ongoing conversation, until he notices the world around him shrinking. Quickly his cheeky grin flips into a furious glower.
"What the heck Caine! A little warning before you turn us into Pikmin, please?" He exclaims, placing a hand on his hip as his other hand flails about to express his distaste. Unfortunately, Caine didn't stick around long enough to contest his response.

When the giggling came forth, questions inevitably came with them.
"I'm willing to bet that's our 'ragatha', oh joy" he says, rolling his eyes at the notion before he starts to walk off briskly.
"But I'm not sticking around to find out. So long, slow pokes!"
And with that, he gave a little salute before running off in a random direction.

Meanwhile Snix has finally stood up, and is currently staring back at where Zooble is, or at least was before they shrank. Given she wasn't in the adventure it stood to reason she might still be tall.
"Yo, Zoobs, mind giving me a lift back to my room? I'm sitting this one out too"
