"I... I will grab a torch to burn the wights that we felled here... The shrewsketeer said, not even dreaming of dragging the bodies to the burning pile: that would simply take too long. So he turning around and began running, his little boots quickly moving against the snowy ground, crunching it softly against the almost negligible weight, leaving footprints behind him.

Eventually, he would come to one of the warriors, extending one gloved hand towards them. "Quick... g-give me one of the torches!" Hopefully receiving one of the torches, Itsy would run back to where he was previously with KaMara and Varius with same quickness, being careful to not drop the torch.

"H-here... now we can... burn them." He said, holding the warm, burning torch.

Yumi moved the instant she saw the wight commander draw its sword, sprinting for all she was worth. When she got close enough, she launched forward, her body twisting into the arc of her swing. The scythe carved a clean, decisive line across the commander, her momentum carrying her into place between it and Yume. She settled into a ready stance, the curve of her blade eager for more.

Varius picked up dry dead wood close by that hadn't met snow yet, his sabatons crunching on the ground as he tossed it right onto the mound of corpses. "Toss the torch on the tinder, it'll give us the fire we need to burn dead to ash, we use the remaining as fuel. If we can get everyone over here!" Varius shouted above the carnage, focused on reducing the threat as much as possible, as he prepared himself afterwards for any further undead, his posture high as his hand gripped his gladius.

Actions 1 - Retrieving dead wood
Action 2 - scattering the deadwood

Moo hated the smell. Her pretty nose couldn't take much torture anymore! She crouched down to cover her nose up, for an instant. She saw the wolf moving ahead to fight whatever was next and she had to follow along. It was fun fighting alongside the beast. He used his teeth and claws while Moo punched and punched harder, it was amazing. Then the party was ruined.

A big cloud rained and destroyed everything around them. Moo could only shield her eyes and grit her teeth as she felt a slight burn on her skin. She recognized the attack. It was similar to what the girl with the funny ears had done before. Once the attack was over, the horned woman looked around for her new friend and the others.

Her amber eyes navigated the scene before the settled on the figure up ahead forming and standing up. A smirk creeped on Moo's face. That was the big boy she wanted to punch. Not only that, but it was focused on her big eared friend, Yume. Over Moo's not alive and completely dead boy would she allow that!

The moose girl lowered her head, stomped the ground with her right foot and then charged. She knew she wasn't close, yet. But if she could get that thing's attention away from her friend, who Moo was starting to think she was a humanoid rabbit because of her big white ears, that would be enough!

Yume

Yume felt her knees wobble as she clutched the staff like a support beam. The spell was the strongest thing she had, and it took everything out of her. Everything out of the forest too, which was the point. Beside her, she watched as a tree just… vaporized into radiant light, desperately trying to direct it so that no one living would be next.

Only when it was over did she sigh a breath of relief. "Phew…" Yume sighed. Given that they were both standing in a crater where a large patch of forest had been, she was feeling pretty confident the spell had done its job. That’s when the corpse stirred.

"N-no way… you’ve gotta be kidding, that’s disgusting!" She pointed a finger at the ghoulish zombie thing. The regret was immediate. It turned to her, and now, there were no trees to hide behind. She gulped.

"Yes yes, I’m amazing, now someone heeelllp!!!" Yume shouted, pointing the staff defensively at the thing. She knew she was out of juice, but maybe it didn’t know that. Alas, it didn’t seem to be swayed.

Then came the heroes! A gleaming strike of the scythe, a wall of muscle and fist, and… a fluffy boi! He was a little too late to strike first, but Yume immediately felt safer with the armored tanuki between her and that nasty thing.

So she collapsed into the snow, still clutching the staff, but content to finally rest. "I’ll leave the rest to you," she said to all three.

For a moment, Yume looked as though she was about to pass out in the snow, but then a certain thought crossed her mind. She glanced back at her mom. "Wait a second, did you just say you were watching me? When!? How!? For how long!? You have so much explaining to do!"

The newly made clearing erupted into motion.

Youko was the first up to bat. Rushing excitedly past Yume towards the strange entity. She struck out gleefully. Her claws met the beings arm, as it was brought up to block the attack. Then with a slight narrowing of its eyes, it thrust Youko back several feet with a brutal shove from its arm that she'd just wounded. Its head rolled to the side slightly, as if something had been knocked loose and it couldn't sit up straight anymore.

Next Yumi swung in for a sweep with her scythe. Her weapon met air as it ducked down with deceptive speed. Its torso and spine cracking as it bent in half to avoid being hit.

As Yumi landed from her attack, settling beside Yukan, with Yume standing behind her; it began to snap itself back together. A terrible cracking noise with several wet pops, ensued. Within seconds it was whole again and raising what appeared to be a frozen blade above its head as it charged towards Yumi.

However it was intercepted as the menace with antlers barreled into it. The commander was shoved a foot before it reached up and grabbed hold of her antlers. Shoving her to the side and letting her tumble. The wolf that had followed her leapt up at him, snarling as it raised its sword to try and slice at the prone Moo. Biting down on the hand that held the frostblade. The commander let out a grating screech, like two metal sheets scraping against each other. Then with a fling of its arm, Hiruqs large wolf body went sailing through the air.

From the village side, the battlefield changed.

The last of the fallen were burning now.

What had once been a scattered effort had become coordinated and complete. Torches pressed into unmoving forms, flames fed with gathered wood, bodies reduced before they could rise again. The screeches had lessened, then thinned, then stopped altogether in those places where the fire had done its work.

Smoke curled upward in dark ribbons, carrying with it the thick, cloying scent of burned rot.

Rextelian and Aya each moved with the soldiers to finish off the last of the undead staggering around and burn them. Before they started making their way towards the clearing that held the center of attention now.

Behind Yumi and Yukan, Yume stood next to Nemuru. The mother looked down at her daughter with an expression of guilt and consideration. As if she were deciding how best to explain her reasons. She sighed after a moment, glancing at the violent scene of those fighting before them.

"I promise...I've always wanted to be able to tell you...and be with you. I've always been so proud of you. But right now doesn't seem like the right time. Perhaps it would be better to finish this thing off...?"

┕━☽【❖】☾━┙

TLDR:

Youko landed a strike on the commanders arm, but got shoved back. Half a point of damage taken. (doesn't count as a full point of HP unless struck again) Yumis attack did not land. The commander tried to attack her but was intercepted by Moo. Who was then grabbed by the antlers and thrown down. Hiruq jumped up to bite the commanders hand so he couldn't attack Moo while she was prone. He got thrown.

The swarm of lesser wights is dwindling and basically gone and those that chose to burn the bodies have just about successfully done so.

Use this round to try and team up and finish the big bad off together. Feel free to plot and plan.

Or just go ham and everyone do your own thing. We'll make it work.

Youko roars angrily as she is hit and charges back in pouring all of her strength into hopefully doing as much damage as possible with her next strike. Her claws are fully extended ready to rend through anything in her way. Her body tenses and coils before launching forward with explosive power as she doesn't care about her own self right now only focused on her foe. Yes she's reckless but if this foe is defeated she knows innocent people will be safe so she's very willing to risk herself.

With the tremendous sky-borne blast thinning the wight herd down to a manageable level, KaMara felt the flow of combat ebb near her. Simultaneously, the ferocious cry of battle rang out across from her. The cat girl and moose lady charged into battle against a single enemy she couldn't quite see.
Not wanting to be left out, KaMara alerted Itsy that she was moving before turning to rush towards the new threat. She lamented the slow plod her piecemeal armor limited her to. Beggars couldn't be choosers and crap armor was better than none at all...
"It's evading direct hits. Try AoE attacks!” she called out on approach.

Seeing KaMara going after the undead commander, Itsy had no hope of catching up with them. Instead, the Shrewsketeer chose to finish the job he had gone after the torch for. Carefully, as careful as someone can be while being an arsonist anyway, he began setting fire to the corpses of the undead creatures. "There you go... now you all can r-rest in peace..." He murmured as the fire began crackling on the pile he had set alight.

Yukan Koyake

Yukan stared down the commander with a steely glint of conviction in his eyes. He saw it retaliate and heart one of his allies mention it had been trying to avoid direct attacks which seemed accurate from his perspective. He needed to it an end to this unnatural abomination and he had just the idea of how he could best go about it. While he wasn’t pleased to see his allies harmed he had to focus on the task at hand to stop others from getting hit or thrown.

He stayed within melee sight point range. He aimed his yari strike not at its most central mass but adjacent too if, attempting to try to get it to dodge when it’d actually be moving right into the line of his actual attack.

Yukan first feinted before he stabbed true, his strongest possible attack unleashed in a fiery ring of sacred fae fire. Making sure his selective was high enough so it’d fizzle out near allies harmlessly before continuing.

“<Across the Sanzu you’ll go again!>” He called out in beastial.

Yukan Action:
1. Feint
2.

Yukan attempts to stab his target up to 100 ft away with a great penetrating force ignoring up to 5 grades of opponent's defensively used item, dealing double damage if successfully strikes a weak spot.

Varius watched as the bodies lit up in a blaze, before turning his eyes towards where majority of the party was headed, towards the apparent cause of this mess or part of it at least. Varius on the other hand looked back at Itsy "Want a ride?" His tone was calm as if he didn't just brutally execute two undead corpses. Varius knelt down after turning away from Itsy offering his shoulders. Snow, and debris shifting at Varius' knees when he crouches down. Focused on aiding his small comrade than glory.

Moo tumbled to the ground, rolling away before jumping back on her feet, just in time to see Hiruq attack. The wolf was tossed away, but not far, as Moo jumped in the air to catch her furry friend. They both hit the ground, courtesy of catching a giant wolf. Moo moved her new friend off her and moved to her feet. She watched the others prepared their attacks.

"Moo tiiired’a dese… no’alai bu’ no’dead t’ings… actin’ weird, hittin’ Moo frens… If tha’ not-dead, not-alai t’ing wanna trah guess wha’ Moo du… den—"

Moo looked around and set her eyes on the girl with the scythe. "Moo surpriise wit’ DIS!!" The horned woman rushed towards Yumi. She grabbed her by the clothes on her back, swung around and threw her like a missile towards the enemy. "Geh! Sma’gir! Slii-slii-slii!!"

Moo wasn't going to let her new friend, hood girl, suffer alone. She rushed the enemy while swining her right arm in circles before spreading it open, ready to clothesline the crap out of it! "Eeh’ dis! Yoo no’alai-no’dead… uggli t’ing!!"

Yumi didn’t get a warning. One moment, she was on the ground, ready for the next attack.

The next, the world dropped out from under her.

"—EEP!"

The sound slipped out before she could stop it, small and sharp as she was suddenly airborne, her cloak snapping violently in the wind. A faint heat crept across her cheeks at the slip, brief and unwelcome, but she pushed it down just as quickly, her focus returning to the task at hand.

Instinct took over. Her body adjusted mid-flight, twisting with the momentum instead of fighting it. One hand slid along the haft of her scythe, guiding the weapon into position as her center shifted. Then she swung the weapon, causing her body to spin through the air in a tight rotation, the scythe following in a wide, whirling arc that carved through the space in front of her, directly at the wight commander's spine.

The clearing became chaos given form.

When Youko herself back into the fray, the impact of her fury driven swipes drove into already-damaged flesh, forcing the creature to give ground, if only a step or two, its posture shifting as it was pressed from the front.

KaMara’s voice cut across the battlefield as she closed the distance, her warning sharp and timely. The creature’s evasive movements were no longer subtle. It bent, twisted, and slipped around direct lines of attack with unnatural precision, its body moving in ways no living thing should.

But the space around it was shrinking.

Yumi came flying towards the commander. Driven forward with sudden force, her form cut through the air in a spinning arc of steel. Her scythe carved a wide, whirling path that the commander could not fully escape this time. Even as it twisted to avoid the worst of it, the edge bit close, forcing it to recoil and abandon its footing.

Only to be slammed by the unrelenting momentum of the angered Moose woman. The blow forced the commander further off balance, its stance breaking as it was driven sideways across the scorched ground.

When Yukan approached with his steely gaze, and feinted; the commander reacted to it, shifting its weight to avoid a strike that never came. Leaving it exposed to the one that did.

The yari drove forward with devastating force, a wide wall of fire and will that tore through the space the creature had just moved into. The impact landed clean, piercing through with a burst of sacred flame that erupted outward in a controlled ring.

The blaze surged across the clearing, sweeping over the scattered remains of the fallen wights. Every corpse that littered the ground; whether already smoldering and burning or not was caught in it. Burned down to ash before it could rise again. The fire curved harmlessly around allies, its path deliberate, its purpose absolute.

The commander staggered.

Its blade rose again, but slower now. Its body twisted, attempting to recover that unnatural flow, but it no longer had the space. No longer had the numbers. No longer had control.

Youko’s pressure held it forward.

Yumi’s presence denied it escape.

Moo’s relentless force kept it off balance.

Yukan’s strike had broken something vital.

And as KaMara closed in, ready to intercept whatever desperate retaliation it might attempt

there was nowhere left for it to go.

The final moments came quickly.

A series of strikes, too many to track individually, landed in rapid succession. Each one forced the creature further into collapse, its form failing to recover between impacts. The hollow blue light in its eyes flickered violently, dimming with each passing second.

Until finally, the body fell.

Silence followed, heavy. Earned. And then it was as if the clearing exhaled.

From the edge of the battlefield, Rextelian stepped forward, his blade lowering at last as his gaze swept across the fallen commander.

“…That’s it,” he said, voice steady, though quieter now. “It’s over.”

Aya moved beside him, her posture easing as she scanned the area one final time. Nothing stirred. Nothing remained.

“…Finally,” she muttered, a breath leaving her as tension slipped from her shoulders.

Behind them, the soldiers of Nan Gau began to gather, the weight of the battle lifting in visible waves. Some leaned on weapons. Others simply stood, staring at the place where the commander had fallen.

Then came the sound. Low at first, but slowly growing.

Relief turning into quiet cheers.

Hiruq let out a howl, before his form shifted in a brief flare of light as he returned to himself. He rolled his shoulders once, breath steadying, before stepping forward.

His hand came down firmly against Moo’s shoulder.

“Good fight,” he said, voice rough with exertion but carrying clear approval.

There was the faintest hint of a grin before he moved on.

He approached Yukan next, extending a hand without hesitation.

“Well struck,” he said. “That ended it.”

Nearby, where the commander had fallen, something remained.

Amidst the ash and broken remnants, a dagger lay half-buried.

Its blade burned with a faint blue flame that did not spread, did not consume. It flickered quietly, unnaturally, as though it belonged to something deeper than fire itself.

Along its surface was etched a symbol.

A seven-pointed star.

Encircled.

Bound.

By thorns.

Rextelian turned back to the gathered group, his expression firm, but no longer strained.

“You fought well,” he said, voice carrying across the clearing. “All of you.”

His gaze lingered, acknowledging each of them in turn.

“You held the line. You ended this.” He paused a moment, before looking to each of them and continuing.
“…You have my thanks.”

Aya gave a small nod beside him, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.

“Yeah,” she added. “Not bad.”

The fires burned low and snow fell softly through drifting ash.

And for the first time in a long time Nan-Li was free of the undead.
