Hey there! After a long hiatus from role-playing, I am thirsting for character and world building and having some fun with new partners. I haven't RPed in a few years so my writing may be a bit rusty, but I have made characters galore in between now and then that are just waiting to be used.
Below are things about me and things I'm interested in, but I'm really craving an RP in the ASoIaF universe or some other medieval fantasy setting of our own creation. Feel free to message me with your ideas, but please do read everything below to get to know me and my preferences a bit!
Also, I'm totally willing [and would love] to build a plot around my existing characters and/or your existing characters. Message me about it and we can figure something out!
You can call me Al
I'm in my mid 20s
I have a double BA in European and American history and am currently getting my MA in museum studies
I love chatting with my partners
I'm huge into reading (duh), MotoGP, true crime, and all things history-related
Been RPing for over a decade now and I've been on the Guild since 2011 (yes, I was around for Guildfall!)
rules of engagement
must be above 18
main characters must be above 18
I really prefer to play with anyone who is not a cis man... sorry, fellas
I do not do smut-driven plots
I prefer fade-to-black
I can type anywhere from a paragraph to a few pages, though I average at around 3-5 paragraphs... but this was years ago, so my writing length may have changed due to me becoming more experienced with lengthy writing through my BA and MA programs
I prefer quality over quantity in posts
I like posts with good detail, action, and dialogue
there will be certain instances where myself or my partner can only get out a few sentences, which is completely understandable
I'm busy, so I can't respond every single day. I'm going to aim for at least once or twice a week
I only RP over PMs or Google Docs
I like to build up friendships with my partners OOC, so feel free to message me whenever
it's easiest to reach me through Discord, xok (if for some reason this doesn't work to add me, message me here and I'll try to problem solve)
please do not use an anime character as a reference image/face claim. I quite literally can't visualize the scenes with an anime character as a reference image/face claim. if you can't find any representative art, a description is more than fine!
be willing to double/multiple up on main and side characters
ditch-friendly
I love love love plotting and world-biilding
LGBTQ+ friendly and encouraging, meaning I will absolutely encourage queer characters and relationships in our RP
plots
The queen has just inherited the throne after her family's sudden deaths. Everyone believes she is young, inexperienced, and easy to manipulate - except her spymaster, who knows exactly how dangerous she can become. Together, they begin quietly dismantling the factions trying to control her reign, but the closer they work, the harder it becomes to tell where duty ends and devotion begins.
The queen and spymaster grew up together at court, but they were never friends. She was the royal heir; they were the child of a disgraced noble house, servant, assassin, or political prisoner. Years later, the queen appoints them as spymaster because they know how to survive betrayal better than anyone. Their relationship begins with distrust and sharp words, but slowly becomes a terrifyingly effective partnership.
The queen begins receiving visits from the Outsider in her dreams. He offers no orders, only possibilities: the name of a traitor, the location of a hidden bastard heir, the image of her spymaster dying in her arms. When she wakes, the mark is on her hand. Her spymaster notices before anyone else. Now they must help her hide powers that would get her executed by the Abbey, while deciding whether the mark makes her a danger to the realm — or the only person strong enough to rule it. (This could be Outsider x Queen or Spymaster x Queen)
One OC is the future ruler of a fae court. The other is their best friend and sworn blade, sometimes mockingly called the queen’s hound by courtiers who believe they are beneath her. They grew up together, fought together, and know each other’s worst impulses. The hound has killed for her. Lied for her. Stayed when everyone else wanted something from her. When the queen takes the throne, she must appear untouchable. Fae monarchs do not love openly. Love is leverage. So their friendship becomes colder in public and more desperate in private, until a rival court realizes the “hound” is not her servant. They are her weakness. And her most dangerous weapon.
Two best friends grew up in a dying fae court where beauty is used to hide decay. The flowers bloom too brightly. The music never stops. The nobles pretend not to notice the roots growing through the ballroom floors. One friend is heir to the court. The other is the only person willing to say the court is rotting. To save their people, they must descend into the old roots beneath the palace and find the original bargain that created the court. The deeper they go, the more memories they uncover - including evidence that their souls have found each other over and over across many lives. They were not always best friends. Sometimes they were enemies. Sometimes lovers. Sometimes one killed the other. This time, they want to choose differently.
There are two courts: one centered on nature magic and the other on trickster or darker magic, such as illusion, transmutation, and blood magic. Both courts can use simpler forms of magic, including enchantments and conjuration.
Within each court, clans specialize in specific types of magic. They may share knowledge, but each clan usually focuses on one magical field and its subtypes. For example, the Nature Court might have a water clan that also practices ice and storm magic.
The Nature Court is likely more unified and perhaps even democratic, while the Trickster Court is more cunning and cutthroat, with power concentrated among those strong enough to hold it. Their divide comes not only from their magic, but from their beliefs and how each court functions.
The main plot could center on an external threat that forces the two courts into a complete truce, possibly for the first time in their history. This alliance would throw characters from both sides together who otherwise never would have met. As part of the truce, important figures from each court could be sent as wards to the opposite court, while two chosen leaders are appointed to guide the alliance.
