Kimberly started the van.

"Right."

A beat.

"Not haunted."

She pulled back onto the road.

"We found random body parts in woods, emergency services won't stay connected, and everyone in this van is concerning in unique and creative ways."

A pause.

"Completely normal town."

She glanced at Colt in the mirror.

"I feel much better now."

"Well now, we don't know that it's necessarily 'old and rotting'." Colt said, and shrugged off the comments about the ghosts. He didn't believe ghosts existed anyway, so it made no difference to him whether they liked him or not.
He looked back at Kimberly in the mirror. "There's reasonable, non-paranormal explanations for everything. That guy probably encountered a bear or mountain lion. And service out here is extremely spotty."
Then, he went back to scrolling through social media on his phone.

"Uh-huh."

She kept her eyes on the road.

"Bear. Mountain lion. Spotty service."

A beat.

"See? This is why I bring you."

She pointed at Colt through the mirror.

"When we find detached arm in woods, you immediately come up with normal explanation."

Another pause.

"Meanwhile Liza is probably naming the ghost already."

Kimberly shook her head.

"I need balance in my life."

"I'm only here because I want to be." Colt quickly said, glancing up from his phone, sounding a little annoyed. He didn't want anyone to think that they were becoming friends of the sort. That was too dangerous.
He looked at Liza. "And why would a werewolf - if they even exist - leave 'perfectly good meat'?"
He listened, trying hear the banging that Liza was asking about, but he was starting to think that it was a poor attempt at a prank to try and scare them. Well, Kimberly.
"I don't hear it. Maybe it's just you being overexcited."

"Yeah, yeah," Colt muttered, "ghosts don't exist so it makes no difference whether they supposedly like me or not."
He scoffed. "Whatever will I do, not being up to a ghost's standards?" he asked, sarcastically.
The sooner they got into Black Hollow and were parked up, the better. Maybe he'd get a chance to have a look around by himself, even just to film some b-roll.

Colt raised an eyebrow at Liza, who seemed to be getting more unsettled. Perhaps... not as excited as she had been acting the entire journey?
"Unfortunately, you're stuck with me too. We'll find out what is going on." His tone was cold, as usual, and while he wasn't particularly nice, he wasn't unkind or cruel.
