Hello there! I'm glad to have found this corner of the net and better yet to see it so active, it's so refreshing to see an RP community that isn't rife with toxicity LOL.

A lil 'bout me
I'm 25, been RPing since my early teens and got my start on Google+, at least that's where I recall having a lot of my early RP experiences. I was huge on MLP back then and mainly did RPs in that setting when I first started out, a lot of slice of life stuff - scenes and scenarios of the domestic 'a day in the life' deal. I think it was around the time that I was 14 or so that I grew out of MLP and began RPing in other genres, I recall really enjoying Post-Apocalyptic survival RP with light dice mechanics sprinkled in, as well as Sci-Fi rps with open universes where often I took the mantle of a bounty hunter (to this day, remains one of my favorite archetype of character to play - Thanks Jango Fett for being so cool) who starts off as a cold killer looking to make a fistfull of credits and later grows a heart and consciousness.

Undeniably though, NRP is a genre that definitely left it's mark on me and it was around the time that I was really getting into history, military stuff, and making fictional world maps (which I believe is kindof the stereotype for NRPers LOL!), I recall spending a LOT of time, from like 2015 to 2021 in G+ and later Discord, around NRP focused communities. But I did grow out of it, simply because the groups I did it with evolved (or devolved i should say fahaha) from making interesting space operas with compelling characters and fleshed out POIs, to a hypercompetitive text-based version of Stellaris in essence. You may already know how that story goes; just constant powergaming by the mods who wield more social capital in the server, and no real plan or exploration for what happens after the Not-Imperium of Man conquers the whole of the known universe.

In more recent years, I've become more of a worldbuilder and have come to enjoy smaller scale RPs. I do most of my roleplay over on Discord with a small group of friends that have stuck with me over the years, often within a setting we've crafted throughout maybe the last two or three years. That's not to say I don't enjoy a massive military campaign (as a matter of fact I love muh massive space wars), but often I'd rather be a character within that context, a lowly grunt on the frontlines, a mech pilot who protects the infantry and destroys the enemy armor, etc. I've come here simply because I'd like to do some RPs with fresh faces, maybe even see how new blood interacts with my own settings and factions!

Fantasy or Sci-Fi?
I've roleplayed in a lot of different settings, Fantasy is one that I can appreciate and get invested into. Often I enjoy playing a magician or alchemist who goes about expanding their knowledge and power, or the typical anime-Adventurer guildsman who takes up contracts and slays monsters. Undeniably though, my strongest catagory for RP is Sci-Fi - More Science Fantasy than hard-SciFi, I'd say. While I can appreciate IPs like say, The Expanse, I often find it more restrictive than anything - Though, I often say a big reason for this is because the latter years of my NRP time left a bad taste in my mouth for Hard-SciFi, since I recall having to always have a calculator during my battles to reason out my attacks with my pseudo-understanding of physics LOL (I recall for example, warfare being reduced to just slinging Relativistic Weapons at each other till one side or the other just literally didn't have any more planets or POIs to attack, removing any interesting semblance of battle for the sake of dreaded realism :L). I simply enjoy my massive unrealistic space battleships blasting at each other with huge laser beams and railguns, fast-paced Mechs that can make utterly ridiculous maneuvers who's G-forces would turn any pilot into paste but don't, etc. All that to say, I can do RP in basically any genre or setting but in most they tend to be one-shot rps, while within SciFi, I love sticking through story arcs and making a whole opera out of it fahaha.

IPs and things I'm into
I definitely don't interact with much media or video games anymore, at least not as much as I used to, but here's a list of some of my favorite video games and shows I've enjoyed, maybe it can give you a good gauge of what someone can expect from me!

- Armored Core/Gundam/Titanfall/Mecha in general - My favorite type of mech is definitely the humanoid bipedal type, while walkers are cool, I tend to prefer the more mobile fighting machines that stand a few stories tall. Whether these machines are treated as just another piece of military hardware or are the trump-card of the setting, I enjoy either way it's presented!

- Star Wars - Specifically the Clone Wars Era as it's what I grew up with as a wee lil fox. I would go so far as to say that Star Wars is the biggest factor in why I enjoy sci fi so much, and many of it's themes are reflected in my own current setting; Space wizards, laser guns and epic infantry battles, battles between huge battlecruisers and battleships!

- Dark Souls - I attribute the Souls franchise for getting me into Fantasy more than anything else, prior to Dark Souls 3, I hadn't watched or engaged with IPs like the Lord of the Rings, Narnia, or Harry Potter, and it was only till after I beat the Soul of Cinder that I jumped into fantasy.

- Mass Effect - I utterly love this IP, well, the trilogy anyways fahaha. Much like Star Wars, Mass Effect elevated the sci fi genre for me, I would say it was one of the reasons I really started delving into world building.

- Signalis/Dead Space - Normally, I'm not into the action-horror genre, but something about throwing in that Sci-Fi flavoring really presses my buttons. Maybe it's the isolation, or seeing all this advanced tech fail and crumble against an apex species of viral space fungus that really sells it for me.

- Warhammer 40k - I'll be the first to say that I'm a casual enjoyer of the 40k franchise, I've never painted minis or participated in the table top aspect, but the lore sucked me right in. I recall watching those multi-hour long Luetin09 lore videos when I was younger, and played some of the games, like DOW1 (which remains my favorite RTS to this day) and Space Marine 1/2. I can't deny the influence it's had on my setting and factions! The aspect that captures me the most about the Imperium of Man is the factionalism, how despite being united against the horrors of chaos and the xenos, the many factions of the Imperium still retain their own interests and traditions, their own goals, which result in disregard for one another or infighting, a facet which I've totally taken in for my own space-empire.

- Attack On Titan/Code Geass/Anime - Anime used to be a huge part of my life when I was younger and I still love the aesthetic; Adventurer guilds, the Shonen protagonist who possesses great potential and over the course of the show grows stronger and unlocks more of that potential, etc. Attack on Titan is one of my favorites that I'll occasionally do a rewatch of now and then. These days I don't watch much anime, I just think it's oversaturated with Isekai but the classics remain in my heart forevermore.

- Furry/Anthros - I evolved from a brony to a Furry LOL! It was really Zootopia that struck the final nail in the metaphorical coffin for me, but I've always enjoyed anthro characters, naturally growing up in an era where movies like Bolt, Kung fu Panda, and Ice Age were huge. That being said, I don't really participate or interact with the furry community at large, and ironically enough, I don't have any furry friends. It's just an aesthetic and style I personally really love, and I really enjoy playing an anthro character of some sort. I don't mind playing a human, especially for those one-off RPs - but to really allow me to get invested in a character I play for a long term arc, I have to be an anthro, methinks.

My Style of RP
Despite my time with RP, I think i fit snugly into the casual roleplayer category. Length-wise, I'm able to do a few paragraphs, maybe more depending on what I'm working with, I definitely think my length reflects my partner's enthusiasm naturally lol. I'm the type that abides by the rule of cool in most instances, that's not to say I don't adhere to logic or dislike a coherent narrative of course, just that my suspension of disbelief is high, and usually requires a decent level of it when my partner engages with my own settings - Kindof like i mentioned earlier, Sure, In a universe where FTL travel is possible, It makes more sense to just sling RKVs at a planet rather than dropping an entire Army Corps on a planet, but is that satisfying to me? Not really... All that to say that I almost always prefer to indulge in a chance to have interesting things happen over adhering to rigid realism in RP.

As a GM, I like to think I'm very accommodating of your wants! Say you want to play in my setting and be a knight-pilot of a Noble House that peaks your interest, or a space witch who travels to distant star systems in search of great power, I'd be more than happy to accommodate that and take you through the drama and battle that pertains to that context! I personally don't tend to utilize mechanics like stats or dice, and may only use something like it for something huge, and even then it's only if you would want that. Again, quite accommodating methinks - I'm here to have a good time and let you have a great time with me!

I tend to do most RP 1x1, and while I am comfortable doing groups, I tend to hesitate doing groups because It's just difficult lining up chances to RP in our little adult lives fahaha. I would also like to put a disclaimer here saying that this is my first time actually using a Forum to chat and rp so, bare with me if my posting/formatting is strange! I'll definitely try to adapt!

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read all that, I hope to meet some new friends here!

Ah, the generation that had a 50/50 chance of seeing the Star-Wars movies starting from episode I and working up through the original trilogy after finishing clone-wars.

@Foster
I consider myself fortunate to have been able to experience Star Wars like that, I know it made going into the originals a lot more enjoyable knowing who Anakin was before he became Vader!

@Imperial Fox Yeah, us old-fart got the Merlin-timeline, knowing how his story ended the entire time. Although to be fair, I'm pretty sure it's hinted that the perception of time gets a lil funky with the force-sensitives like Yoda. Fan theory is if Yoda/Grogu is in mortal danger they basically time-travel/teleport and can basically be the same person living in an inverse time-loop.

Otoh, we also had the 90s. Some of it has held-up better than others.

Old theory. Predates actually seeing how he survived Order 66. But it was sorta an explanation on how he was seemingly clairvoyant and had a weirdly disjointed word-order. Aside from the more mundane possibilities. Basically he had to fight every urge to say "told you so" in the council-chambers.

The other of course was if Jar-Jar was a sith lord.

Kinda funny how Clone-Wars softly borrowed choreography from Starship Troopers (that or was softly giving a nod in their direction).

But then again: "I said put your hand on that wall!" had to get its inspiration from somewhere.
-My next-door neighbor pointed out that when he was put on the transport-plane to be dropped off behind enemy lines without a parachute into razorgrass up to his head was when he realized just how expendable he was. 32-128th Reg.

@Imperial Fox welcome. You have quite a resume. I feel like I have a medieval fantasy isekai community rp you'd be into. Can include some of the scifi aspects you may prefer but its not a space opera involving multiple worlds at once for now. Supports 1x1 and groups. Let me know if its of interest to you.
